Journalism, Social Media and International Affairs.
The major part of people who inhabit our planet are connected with each other very closely. Even person from Boston, USA is in the stone’s throw from a person in Vladivostok, Russia. This all thanks to the globalization, or better say internet.
If any shaheed blows himself up in the market place in Hong Kong, you will know about it in 5 minutes. All this because news and mass media are everywhere. Your father wakes up in the morning and turns on the TV to hear the latest news. Mass media is everywhere at anytime as soon as you contact with people. Even if you try to abstract from any news or mass media, you will not succeed in it, because any important news which are related to international or integral security and its violation or to the everyday’s life of you and your friend’s circle will anyway permeate into your life.
Now you can ask a question: Why do i have to abstract from any mass media, or specifically from news? - Because every article, every interview, any information that spreads throughout the mass media is passed through the vision prism of its editor, and we do not know, who this publisher (magazine, newspaper) works for. So, almost in all cases we receive not objective or even truthful information.
For example let’s take a recent situation with a Russian jet shot down by Turkey. Open the news from “Russian Today” and any Turkish news portal - you will see completely different information. This is not astonishing or surprising information, such practice has been taking place for a long time. Because every state cares about growing in the minds of their people a certain feeling that their country and it’s government are “the ones smart and beautiful standing in a white coat” and that they commit right decisions.
So, lets make a little conclusion: You cannot trust anything. Any information that goes into your ears and eyes must be criticized and you must have your own thought and opinion on any subject in order not to be buried under the mountain of informational trash.
Think critically.
