Okay so I’ve been talking about making a long ass post about why Terra shouldn’t get as much shit as he does by the fandom and it’s finally here. This post is just kind of like an analysis of Terra’s story and his behavior, along with the behavior of those around him, and the point of it is to explain why Terra isn’t an “idiot” or “gullible”, and he shouldn’t get all of this shit for “fucking up the entire series”. There’s seven different sections to it and I honestly hope a lot of you can give it a read because I’m tired of seeing all these posts criticizing Terra, whether they’re jokes or not.

This post makes me want to cry. Whenever I see people that criticize and blame Terra for his actions I, as silly as it may seem, can’t help but see them doing it in a way that validates what Xehanort did to him; as if he was so stupid that he deserved it. Nobody deserves it. 

Like you said, Terra is manipulated and abused by Xehanort, emotionally blackmailed into using darkness so Xehanort can steal his freaking body. There’s some really sinister implications in literally taking over and controlling another person’s body - overpowering them - and Nort breaks Terra down to do it, to make him vulnerable. Terra doesn’t willingly give into it the way Riku does in kh1. 

Terra isn’t even ‘seduced’ by the dark side like characters such as Riku or Anakin Skywalker (Which I’ve seen him compared to) He’s manipulated and forced into a position where he has no other choice, and even then he’s doing it for the right reasons; not jealous or spiteful ones like Riku in kh1. 

When people blame or pick of terra for what he goes through in BBS, they’re blaming him for the things Xehanort did to him; for situations outside his control. 

Terra doesn’t need redemption. 

What Terra really needs is saving, empathy, he needs his friends- he needs to be told it wasn’t his fault. Because it wasn’t.

What makes me sad is that the main feature that Xehanort manipulated all of them was their goodness.

What did Terra do? 

Trusted what another person told him. Good. (Xehanort’s story)

Believed about giving second chances after making mistakes. Good. (Like Eraqus did to Xehanort)

Valued honesty. Good. (Feeling betrayed by Aqua spying on him)

Are we really that jaded that we can’t even see that trusting others with a mindset of other people being good too isn’t a fault, but abusing that trust is?
