I'm increasingly jaded with a lot of KoH fandom content, particularly when it comes to Baldwin. So much discussion seems to reduce him to an idealized figure and an object of reverence. The vast majority of the time, the fans' conversation revolves around how beautiful, noble, or perfect he is. The constant fangirling, the corny AI slop content of their OCs in romantic scenarios with Baldwin, and the intensely parasocial policing of jokes about him make the fandom feel like a shallow place.
It doesn't frustrates me that people appreciate him, but how narrow that appreciation often is. Many portrayals center almost entirely on his appearance, perceived attractiveness, or the novelty of finding a disfigured man appealing. The "I like a leper, I'm so quirky" narrative feels especially reductive because it still treats his condition as the defining feature around which admiration must revolve.
