Sigh... the way mediocre skaters/teams are still given not deserved high scores is so disappointing. When will FS be fixed for real?
Just makes fans like it less and less ...
Hope you enjoy this little improvised edit 😊 Just feeling inspired ❤️✨
beautiful 😊💕
Tessa and Scott’s 5th Symphony program is them deliberately showing off, without being showoffs. It blows the mind… The control, dance-literacy and deftness you have to have to nail this choreography… 10 years on and it’s still such a high-level piece.
At one point, as the strings ascend in the main theme, they stop for a good two seconds in the middle of the rink, right when the music feels like it’s unveiling some great mystery…
They have like 4 minutes to show the judges what they can do and they chose to show them this… because they’re in complete control and this needed to be said… ART
And then at another point, right as the strings !swell! there’s a gorgeous lift, and they continue to move from one critical lift position to the next..
… only to land her gently on the descending chords.
It’s a proper showcase of their expert skating abilities, musicality and emotivity [is that a word]. Talent jumped!
I literally cant! And neither can any of y’all other ice dance faves!

@martha0206 Thank You so much!! it was hard to put things into words. 💕💜💕💜
I will start with how I found them...
(2013 searching for who I might see at the 2014 Olympics)
I still remember watching Vancouver’s Mahler for the first time. I still remember thinking it was the most beautiful interpretation of music I had ever seen. They looked ethereal...I remember forgetting they were even competing and when the performance was over I thought “there’s no way they didn’t win this.” I was mesmerized and blown away.
Dance has always been my first love, and although I no longer take classes or perform, it will always be a big part of me. Art in general is a big part of me and what I saw in Tessa and Scott was pure artistry.
I was immediately captivated by their performance bc it had so much soul in it. It was beyond their technical abilities and their storytelling, it was an expression of themselves. They have carried that with them since they were little. They have that special and rare factor that allows them to connect with people no matter their background and make them feel like they’re part of something. It is a rare gift and especially rare in their case because it is held by two people.
I wouldn’t say that I believe in destiny but they make it hard not to. I think that as complex...tumultuous...use whatever word to describe their relationship can seem to the public eye. I do still believe there will always be a special connection between them, you don’t achieve what they have in their 20 yr old career or 22 yr old partnership without it.
Tessa and Scott are simply...legendary. I feel lucky I witnessed and even got to follow a segment of their journey as it was happening. I saw them slay dragons, I saw them shut nonbelievers up, I saw them completely take control of their journey and beat up a system in order to defend what they had started so many years ago and was so special to them.
When you hear someone get emotional over them, how can they not?! it is literally impossible not to. They represent hope in a sense. I’m not trying to overly glorify them but just giving justice to what their career represents. I fell in love with their craft bc it constantly reminded me that achieving what seems unreachable ...is possible.
I could list all the reasons they’re amazing...their lines, their edges, their lifts that defy gravity, their musicality, their speed, expression, chemistry ...yada yada yada
But it’s in a small amount of words, their pursuit of excellence. It is never giving up...never being satisfied...always bringing something new to the table...it’s hard not to be inspired. They’re not perfect but that’s what makes them great. Despite obstacles they achieved their status as the most decorated figure skaters in history.
It is unfortunate that I didn’t get to enjoy their last performances watching them with fellow fans that I got to get close to and enjoy their skating with. I didn’t get to say goodbye in company. But I needed to write this small gesture of a goodbye. They will never read it but I know they know their career is admired by many. And the fact they felt supported during their last games or last performances is good enough for me.
Who knows for how long I will blog this time, but I will continue to enjoy reminiscing different parts of their journey bc they brought a lot of joy (and also stress lol) into my life.
So thank you, Tessa and Scott, for giving us 22 years worth pretty much of timeless programs.
(Loved how I found them through Mahler and Fix You ended with the Mahler ending pose...so when I say I ugly cried during this...not lying lol)
