Zim has crowd based phobias and he gets extremely nervous when all eyes are on him or when attention is drawn to him.

And this goes pretty far beyond him worrying about the humans discovering him if they pay him too much attention.

You think it would be the opposite since Zim’s a little ego maniac gremlin who revels in any attention he gets.

But when you remember that every time that he was re-encoded and most, if not all of his traumatic experiences that he suppresses took place in front of LARGE crowds of many irken eyes…..

Zim just can’t handle people staring at him if the attention isn’t positive. Even if it’s neutral…. or indifference… All eyes on him just trigger his anxiety….
