What's your skincare routine?
Slather myself with prescription Retin-A cream and retinol moisturizer. It’s why I never age. Among other reasons.
Retina-A is the prescription brand name for tretinoin cream. Tretinoin is actually pretty incredible from a demetological standpont. It’s a bit of a miracle in that it
prevents wrinkles
actually erases them
is fantastic for most types of acne acne
fades scars and age spots
brings all sorts of hard-to-get-to things to a surface
Pretty much any person’s skin would benefit from a tretinoin product of some kind. You can get a prescription from your primary care doctor.
Retinol creams are different but similar, both chemically and how they work. They’re available over-the counter! Search ‘retinol moisturizer’ on Amazon (or somewhere else b/c fuck Jeff Bozos). It does most of the same things tretinoin does, but more slowly. It’s also gentler on the skin and can be used more often. Whereas tretinoin is more for spot treatment, retinol can be applied in a all-around-the-face moisturizer. It also comes in body lotion options, and prevents hand wrinkles!
Just make sure to wear SPF moisturizer (which is a good idea to do anyway) during the day, because all these products make your skin more vulnerable to sun damage.
I don’t want to post this without also acknowledging the dark history behind Retin-A, which is infamous and can be read about in the book “Acres of Skin” (I haven’t read it). Trigger warning for unethical human medical experimentation, abuse, medical racism and discussion of wounds.
