The Nameless Arcane

“No one triumphs over Death, he is the last to die…” This is my take on the Death card which is one of the major arcana in divinatory Tarot. Maybe I’ll do the others sometime. I didn’t want to represent him in a traditional manner, such as the Grim Reaper, so I did quite a bit of research on the personification of death and the deities of the underworld in many cultures. In the end I had waaayy to much material to work with so I kept it simple. Death is often associated with fertility and rebirth and a Celtic god, Cernunnos, symbolizes that with antlers which I thought was cool as they also represent strength and invincibility, both also characteristics of Death.
