“Why do you beat yourself up so much over little mistakes?”
This is such a good illustration of emotional abuse
This is why you shouldn’t make fun of people for over-apologizing.
I will always remember after I moved in with husband for the first time, and I dropped a mug and it shattered. I went into a terrified panic, waiting for a rebuke that never came. And in some ways that was worse because it felt like I was being ignored and that was something else I dreaded too, because my god, you spend your life dancing on a knife edge between dreading attention and craving it, cutting your feet to ribbons to keep up with a tune you’re not allowed to learn because it’s always changing.
It took a very long time for me to trust that his affection wasn’t a weapon in disguise, that no, it really didn’t matter. Because a broken mug is just a broken mug and not a sign of my inherent lack of worth.
Can relate to this. And done spamming the dash this morning

Weird dream logging
Any dream I remember usually involves me running from something that’s out to get me. And Is normally a black viscous mass that often change it’s shape and form to better reach me. This time the ‘dream me’ that still seemed to have some memory of my previous running dreams was metropolitan city with few sky rises. We walked around and had come with a few people but seemed to walk in different directions. Looking for something. I followed a group that made the tunnels and subterranean area’s like subways their home, a friend off mine who left in a different direction found some people in a factory setting, and we were suppose to meet up after some time. When it came time to meet up we were suspects in some bombing and went to look for what happened. The ‘me’ in the dream went up to the street surface talking to someone and the police came to only be put off by some impersonating police officer. After a quick scuffle I handed someone a dark green box and kept walking and they went back into the tunnels. I had to guide a few people to some mall that was a tower. People split up to look faster and that ended in running with people trying to kill us. Now the dream ended with the version of me in the dream guiding everyone in some tunnel. And around us were torn down tree’s and a simple park. Near a town that had no damages what so ever. It felt like waking up twice. Once in the dream to come back to it’s own reality and then again to actually wake up in real life. First dream in months that I can recall. But not the weirdest I’ve had.
Allowing himself to glance at his side, at Miqo, he sighed rather heavily as he did consider the consequences of helping someone he did not know. It was out of character for Estinien to help anyone but himself and Aymeric, but something in the back of his mind told him this would be a good idea. If it did, perhaps, turn sour then at least he knew he would be able to turn his spear quickly to Bargreth’s heart.
“Best not ever. I am helping you, because there is mutual gain from this arrangement, but do not forget that I am not afraid to turn my weapon on civilians if you so much make me suspicious.” Estinien said with his usual monotone drawl. Hand reaching to his back and tapping his lance a few times in a show of his power.
As they walked, Estinien couldn’t help the feeling that he should tell someone where they were going, but even he knew that that would make him appear weak in the eyes of some. "Yes, yes, we have a deal.“ He responded, waving a hand dismissively. "Now all that is left is to tell me if there is a specific type of dragon that is needed to be slain and we can head on our way.”
His eyes became slightly unfocused as he let his mind wander for a minute before setting foot back into reality. “Also, there needs to be some rules laid out– I have agreed to help you, but do not think for a moment that means I will risk my life for yours. If you are unable to protect yourself than it falls on you and you alone, are we clear?” Estinien said with a sneer, eyeing the smaller man with as much disdain one would give towards a bug rather than another person.
The alchemist shook his head a little as his black ears twitched at the last remark. Using his left hand to tap the staff that remained on his back before returning a cold gaze to the helmeted Estinien. Part of him thought about flinging a spell his way. A few scorch marks might make his point. But no. Doing so would only alienate his already annoyed assistant.
He started to walk past the armored Elezen before briefly saying “We head to Falcon’s Nest first.” He knew that there were an abundance of some wyrmbloods there. More on the northern end of that region but enough for a starting point to the materials he wanted to get.
A small chill did run up his spine as the cold finally seemed to worm it’s way through his clothes. No. Definitely not his favorite place to work in. But he figured he would get use to it. Or start lighting fires. There wasn’t too much to say at this point until their destination was reached. But his senses were honed on the Elezen from the point they started to move to when they reached their first destination.
“Eventually, I will need to hunt a larger dragon. I hope this will not be a problem for you?” He asked, keeping his gaze forward as part of his mind was now reeling over thoughts on traps, potential area’s to strike. Plans forming in his mind as the cold air danced along his cheeks from the wind.
George Takei was so excited to do this shirtless episode. He spent all his free time doing push-ups for a week before they shot this.
they were going to give him a katana and have him be a samurai, but he didn’t want to be stereotypical, so he told the execs that he could fence and they wrote in references to the three musketeers instead
he could not, in fact, fence
he spent the weekend before shooting learning how
Not only that, but he found he liked fencing, kept it up, and became a master fencer.
When I had the privilege to hear him talk at AwesomeCon 2015, he informed us he is a master fencer. It was a very clear implication that he is still fencing at his advanced age. No wonder he’s so healthy.
He had far too much fun with this episode and it shows.

George takei is amazing.
If he were being entirely truthful, he was quite enjoying this little escapade so far and it had yet to begin. The young man before him appeared to take no one as a prisoner, letting his sharp, silver tongue do most of the work. Arching an eyebrow slightly, he grasps the paper in his armored claws and gave a once over on it. He didn’t care much for what it said so long as he would have the ability to take down more dragons, bleaching his gleaming sapphire armor the color of rubies.
“Bargreth…” He murmured to himself absentmindedly, committing the name to memory as best as he could. Recalling names was never something he excelled at, especially the names of those who had yet to prove themselves to him. “Hmm, perhaps divulge some details about your theories. Though it is not my duty to protect Ishgard from heretics, I would rather your ‘research’ being used for something nefarious.” The annoyance was clear in his voice, rolling his eyes beneath his helm as though he had been taught to say those words to any asking favors.
Estinien barked with laughter, doubling over and only earning the eyes of the people near them. Here this man was– coming into the Congregation with poison on his lips and seeking not only a Dragoon, but the Azure. He had been looking for him and yet, he did not know his name. “Estinien Wyrmblood.” He said plainly as he carefully regained his composure. “Take this advice, little kit-” His voice was enough to cut steel, using the nickname to put them on completely opposing hemispheres. “-know the names of those you search for help from before you meet them.”
With that, he shoved the paper back into Bargreth’s hands and walked towards the doors. “We had best leave before we die of old age, yes?”It was impossible to tell, but surely Estinien’s eyes bore mischief in them as he trudged out into the cold, hardly waiting for his new companion to follow.
While it was true that he was not aware of the Azure’s name, introductions were still important to build any sort of working relationship. no matter how brief. He took the paper back and folded it back into his sack before his eyes would watch the dragoon storm away towards the door. Turning slowly before walking and carefully moving to match his pace. “Nothing nefarious. At least perhaps not yet.” He decided to throw that last bit to see what kind of reaction he would get. He could feel the amount of sarcasm from his previous dribble. His gaze would go from left to right and notice that the towns folk or the guards that seemed to pay the Azure attention. And in passing, maybe catch a glance afterwards.
He knew a general bit to the city of Ishgaard. Trying to steer away from it’s politics and it’s religion as those things alone never sat well with alchemy. Especially if they were able to push the lines as even his own teacher was able to do.
“And as for names, anyone can claim to be whoever you seek. And after the mistake is made, you can find yourself at the wrong end of a knife or some stiletto aimed towards your neck. Actions are what speaks better then searching for a name. Besides..” He waved his right hand, as if to try and whisk away some snow and a thought. “No..now’s not the time. For now I just need to kill some dragons. Extract their materials. We can move to the next step after we begin.. So do we have a deal?”
slayerofnidhogg:
Estinien stood in place, arms folded across his chest as he listened to the man rant and rave about this and that. Certainly were it any other day, under any other circumstances then he would have lashed out at him and told him to leave. It was none of the dragoons’ concerns whether or not he had what he needed. Their jobs were to kill dragons, not to act as an escort. Were it any other day…
However, today was not an ordinary day.
“If someone exceeded my own skill set than they would be the Azure, not I.” Estinien replied with a rather cat-ish smirk spreading far across his lips. This man was interesting to say the least. No one with an ounce of self-preservation would ever speak in such a way to the Azure Dragoon, especially not Estinien Wyrmblood, but he would suspect that the Miqo did not care much for that. It was interesting, refreshing, and he found himself oddly curious to find out more about him.
Finally, he made a move; grabbing his helm that had been tucked away and placing it over his head, pushing the visor down as he did so. “You have won me over.” Perhaps he should have put up more of a fight, but he always did enjoy the company of those who do not simply roll onto their back and beg. “Tell me your name and what you want. We can go from there.” Estinien hoped that he was not making a mistake putting even an inch of trust in this man.
His gaze didn’t divert from the Elezen as he put his helmet back on. His left hand reaching into his bag and pulled out a small parchment. Handing it to the man infront of him as he gave a slight sigh. Making sure that the dragoon would hold the small list firmly before he would relinquish it to him. “The name’s Bargreth Kreyole. A roaming alchemist and researcher. Of sorts. Currently I need to test some theories and I need a number of materials from dragons. And sadly, I need a lot of them. And since Dragoons are, as you said, known and well versed in fighting dragons, this should be a walk in the park for you. And no, I’m not expecting you to do all of the work.” He kept his right hand along his hip as his red eyes were peering to where the Elezen’s eye should have been, through the helmet. He still didn’t have this person’s name, but it was customary to give his own name first. “What would your name be, by the way?”
Have you played any RPG games in your life and if so what do you think of the genre and do you have a favorite?
I like RPGs, but I really don’t care for the turn-based variety since they feel far too restricting. I’d rather have a hack n’ slash game with RPG elements, or anything that gives me more freedom. (Kingdom Hearts, Dust, Nioh, etc.)
My only exceptions are Final Fantasy VII / VIII / XII, Breath of Fire II, Dragon Quest VIII, and the incredibly underrated Legend of Legaia.
God how I miss Legend of Legaia. Time to emulate this sum bitch.
“I should gather some extract from these dragons.” muttered the alchemist as he was sorting through his small pouch that carried various reagents and solvents. Storing them in a lock box in his bag was the safest way he could keep his materials safe while out in the field. Roaming through the streets of Isgaard and heading towards the forgotten Knight for a quick drink. Something to warm him up for the journey as he ran through a list of things he needed. Dragonblood and perhaps something more potent. But normal knights or errant wouldn’t be of use for how deep he wanted to go. An experienced slayer would definitely be in his best interest to employ. But now it was a matter of screening them and discerning who could help escort him.
“There’s always that Azure Dragoon..” His encounter’s with this one in particular was sparse at best. In passing maybe but nothing actually personal. Perhaps now was a good time for him to introduce himself. Should the reputation go far, he could definitely look into trying a longer term partnership. But for now he just changed directions to enter the Congregation of Our Most Heavenly Knights, as it was called. It was right next to the Forgotten Knight so he figured after introductions, then a drink, and the journey can begin.
Exhausted as he was from a previous engagement, Estinien did not have the time ( nor the will ) to allow himself even a moment of rest. In his point of view, he had done very little that day to deserve sleep– a few more dragons under his boot would certainly do the trick, but the sun was already gradually setting. Snow continued to fall as it always did, signalling perhaps a storm was on it’s way, but the sky watchers had spoken little of anything dangerous. A few more dragons should do….
He hardly had the time to finish adorning himself with his armor before a slightly flustered dragoon came staggering towards him, eyes staring around a tad wildly. “Sir, there is someone who says he is in search for someone to help him…” The dragoon said before turning and pacing back where he had appeared from.
With a sigh, Estinien tucked his helm beneath his arm and walked near to the door of the Congregation, scowl already present on his face. It was there that he encountered a Miqo, appearing very bookish in his stature, and that only furthered his stormy mood. “I have been told you are looking for a dragoon to assist you in whatever endeavors.” His monotone voice hastily turned into something dripping with poison. “Listen here, and listen well; dragoons are not sellswords. Speak what you want and best make it quick.”
Each word was like acid from the dragoons tongue. Normally he would have brushed it aside as the usual disgruntled veteran, expecting proper respect. But today he was not in the mood. “You listen here, and you listen well. You dragoons are known for being able to hunt dragons and fend them off, and since I need extracts from said dragons I came to the one who is suppose to be the best in the field. And I only want the best. And before you scoff it off, I can and will carry my own weight. But the last thing I will do is take that kind of crap. Now are you the right one for the job or should I keep looking for someone that may be more talented?”
He narrowed his eyes as his right hand was resting on his hip. Meeting the Elezen tit for tat, sort of speak. His own words almost coming out as a hiss in tone. “If I were treating specialists like your kind as sellswords, I would have just tossed a bag of coins and see who’d be stupid enough to pick each other off for it. But no, I want results. And for results you go to the top. Am I wrong?”
Within the back of his mind, he was trying to tell himself to step back a bit and not instigate a fight. But it just set him off. Perhaps after a moment moods will change.
