Hunger for Adam? Maybe he hasn't eaten for a couple days bc he's engrossed in a case, and Kev notices how in pain he is and gets him some food?
Adam felt his stomach clench, cramping painfully, and he instantly regretted that last coffee. He let out a slow breath, sitting back in his chair for a moment to rub at his eyes. His head was throbbing, something he hadnāt actively noticed while he was so engrossed in the CCTV footage heād been watching for, if the clock was to be believed, 14 hours straight.
Just as his stomach chose to grumble loudly, a plate was placed beside him with a perfectly made sandwich on it. He glanced up, offering Kevin a smile.
āIām not hungry,ā he said quietly, leaning into Kevinās touch as his hand fell to his shoulder.
āYour stomach might disagree. Eat.ā
Adam sighed as his stomach grumbled again. He knew he was hungry under the pain and the bubbling nausea. He knew both things were likely because he hadnāt eaten in over 24 hours. Still, heād reached a point where food didnāt seem appetising at all.
āEat, and then Iām taking you home.ā
āNo,ā Adam protested, pulling away from Kevinās hand that had worked its way into his hair, fingers scraping idly against his scalp in a way that threatened to lull him to sleep. āThereās still at least ten more hours of this to sift through.ā
āAnd it will be there tomorrow,ā Kevin said firmly, pulling up a chair beside Adam. āIf you donāt look after yourself, how can you expect to save her?ā
Adam had to swallow the lump that rose suddenly in his throat, blinking as a heat spread across his cheeks, eyes stinging.
āI know this one means a lot to you,ā Kevin said softly, taking Adamās hand in his. āBut you gotta make sure youāre operating at 100%.ā
Adam nodded, ducking his head as he sniffed heavily. āYeah. Yeah, I know, youāre right.ā
To prove he was listening, he took a bite of the sandwich, and the moment he swallowed hunger flooded him, his body desperate for more.
āThank you,ā he whispered, offering Kevin a smile.
āSāwhat Iām here for,ā Kevin said with a grin, giving Adamās hand a squeeze. āSomeoneās gotta look after your stupid ass.ā
Adam laughed, shaking his head. He knew it was true, but it still seemed ridiculous to him that Kevin even found him worth looking after. In lieu of a response, he leaned in to press a kiss to Kevinās lips, soft and chaste and warm, and just that simple act gave him a renewed sense of energy.
āThank you,ā he said again, a little more firmly before returning to his sandwich.
