Ah, book signings, some of her favorite times. While she enjoyed them, that didn’t mean she wasn’t prone to being late to them. They were often scheduled so early in the morning, the publishing company she worked with now having no Shiono to understand the odd hours of Takatsuki Sen.
Showing up twenty minutes late to the bookstore was no way to kick things off, but when she bowed with a loud apology, those waiting seemed to relax in their seats.
“Aaah, I’m so terribly sorry! I got stuck on the subway!”
How easy it would be for someone of her height to have issues with public transportation; it was only reasonable.
The proceedings went on as they always did -- Takatsuki met with everyone, signed many books with her name on them, and enthusiastically chatted with each fan. The timeslot for this particular event was meant to last for around ninety minutes, though because of her antics, it lasted over two hours. The representative from the publishing company was clearly exasperated, but Eto paid him no mind. She didn’t like him, and Takatsuki’s shenanigans were proof.
Yet, all things must come to an end, so as the event was wrapping up, Eto moved to leave as well. A sudden woman ran in, another late one apparently. Takatsuki turned and smiled, perfectly fine with greeting another fan, despite the event having ended just moments prior. However, the woman moved too quickly than a tiny author ought to be able to react in tandem to; perhaps it was the woman’s nerves, or it was the heels she was wearing, but the sudden and accidental collision left Eto no choice with colliding quite harshly with the bookstore floor.
So, that was how carpet tasted. You learned something new every day.
