Modern AU- Forebode The Storm- Theon+Addison

Her voice sounded so soft and small amongst all the noises all around them. He had never realized all the noises of the town before. Not until now. Everything was always so crowded and loud, always so busy. Nothing ever slowed down. Even this town that always seemed to have a slow pace seemed to have moved on since he left. Everything moved on, it seemed, everything and everyone. Except him.

“Just right here.” he said, leading the way. A small town doctor. He hoped that he could provide for her the care she needed. He thought he should have gotten her to a hospital. But he hadn’t really been thinking straight, had he? His mind had been cluttered and busy like everything else around him. He hadn’t considered how serious her injuries might be. But she seemed to be walking alright on her own, talking alright. She was hurt but she seemed alright as she could possibly be. Alright except when he looked at her in her soft eyes. All he saw there was broken and fragile, a thousand different sufferings playing in their color, all her broken pieces lost somewhere in the gentle gleam of her eyes. He hated the look of it, wanted to help her escape it although he wasn’t even sure why. But the first step was the doctor, getting her checked, hoping she’d be okay. He turned to look at her again. “Just a town doctor.” he said with a small shrug. “You want something to eat?” he asked. “Once you finish up in there? We’d have to go back to my place….my dads place. I don’t have money on me. Well, if you’re hungry.” he said, knowing he was talking too fast. But he didn’t want to see her off into that office and never get to see her again.

Addison followed him over to the building, frowning slightly when they stopped in front if it. She had assumed he would be coming in with her, but if he didn't want to, then she wouldn't make him. Then he spoke and the corners of her lips tilted up slightly in a smile. "I would like that," she said softly, looking at him. "Would you... would you come in with me?" she asked quietly, so much so that she was worried he would not hear her. She was worried of his answer, worried it would be no.

As she waited for her answer, she took in the surroundings. The town seemed small, more so than whatever city she'd been in. Ross had been good to her a few times, taking her out to some of the nice restaurants. Of course, it had always been for business deals. She was a pretty thing and he used that to full advantage. That's why when he beat her, he avoided her face. She could cover everything else up, but not her face.

She looked back as Theon, surprised at how kind he was being to her. He barely knew her and yet he was helping her out and offering a meal and a shelter--at least for the time being--to her. She was grateful and she hoped he would be there for her inside.

Loras glanced at his sister as they walked, one eyebrow arched lightly though in a way that was more curious than anything. He hadn’t expected such an answer, but it was not especially surprising either. Addison may only be five and ten, he reminded himself, but I was younger still when I left. And he had managed alright, hadn’t he? But then again, he had Renly’s help. Whether he wanted it or not, it had always been there. Though at first this was a fact that had irritated him, as a boy of barely ten years, but over the days and weeks and months and years to follow he realized just how grateful he always was to Renly—for everything.

And such would be the case with Addison, whether she wished it or not. “I am your brother, Addison,” he said, taking hold of her shoulder lightly and turning her to face him. “I will always offer my help—though it is up to you whether you choose to accept it or not.”

Catching her gaze, he slid his hand to link with hers instead. “You’ll come back.” he said, following her line of sight to the castle; the glimmer of moonlight on white stone walls broken only by the vines and ivy that trailed over it. “You’ll come back.”

Addison smiled at her brother, wrapping her arms around him tightly. "You always seem to know what to say to me," she said as she pulled away and kissed his cheek. "You're always there for me and that's why I love you," she added and gave his hand a squeeze.

They resumed walking, entering the castle. She would spend only a few more nights here. It was odd, the way the castle looked with her knowing this was the last time she would see it for a very long time. It seemed bigger, more beautiful, magnificent. She smiled slightly as they arrived at her room. "Thank you," she said as her turned to him, the smile not only on her face but in her eyes. "You're the best brother a girl could ask for," she said and kissed his cheek once more. "Goodnight, brother."

A slight frown drew Loras’ brows together as he tipped his head to the side, confusion clear on his face. Who even was this girl, and what reason could she have for inquiring as to his father’s name? Surely there was no ill will here, but even so…it was a questionable request, but not one Loras refused to answer. “Mace Tyrell,” he replied, shifting his stance in order to cross his arms over his chest. He could feel the plastic of his nametag pressed against his chest through the shirt, and he wondered vaguely if she had a habit of going into places of work and asking employees about their fathers.

“Why?” Loras asked, giving a slight shake of his head. “Why do you ask, I mean. Does that mean anything to you, any of this?” He took a slight step back; not to get away but simply to alleviate the awkwardness a little. “Does any of this mean anything to you?”

The breath left her lungs at his reply. It was her brother, the one she had said what she thought was a final goodbye so long ago. And yet here he was, standing in front of her. He seemed well. Healthy and happy. And he deserved it. He'd always been so good to her and she was glad that he had found happiness.

"You don't remember me, do you?" she asked after she regained her breath. Her eyes stayed on his. "Addison. Addison Rose," she added, hoping that maybe her name would help him to remember her. But if he didn't remember, she supposed she could come up with some sort of lie to avoid the awkwardness that would follow suit.
