Hi! I just recently reread Mamo for the third time and was reminded of how deeply I love it. The colors, line work, nature and backgrounds, everything is so so beautiful! (And honestly, this might be weird but my clothing and hair style was pretty heavily influenced by Jo’s after I read it for the first time lol). Is there ever any chance of you making more work with those characters/in that world? Either way, thank you for making it!!
Hello! This is such a sweet message, thank you so much. Not weird at all! Especially given I was essentially dressing Orla how I dress much of the time. Love a layer.
I wouldn't rule out doing anything with Mamo again, but I certainly don't have any plans. After it came out a few people asked me about a sequel and my instinct was and remains "what they're up to is their business". It's an intentionally open-ended story, not because I necessarily have more to say, but because what Orla and Jo have in common throughout the book is a feeling that their lives are on a set path — Orla in a kind of fatalistic, miserable way, and Jo in a 'I've never really imagined anything else' way. The ending is open because they are open! And I kind of like letting them have that. But! Never say never. Here's a smooch for you.

We report: it got very windy during the afternoon, sudden gusts that had us looking up every few minutes. The sound of the rush of air in the dry brush is sharp, and loud, arresting in the way things out of our control can be. We still hear it as we are trying to fall asleep.
