How do you feel about changelings

"Why don't you have a face?" He deadpanned. "on a more serious note, it's because Koz is just a short form of the sound the sh in Kosh'mari makes. It's a hard zh when pronounced."

What do Batitaros eat, like, are they specifically blood suckers? and where do they come from? Are they trolls?
"Calm yourself." Koz laughed a bit, his rumble deep in his chest. "Not trolls, no. Something just as ancient though. We hail from the krubera caves. originally... we evolved alongside the deep trolls. stole life from their very veins with our fangs. Hemavores. We drink blood." He frowned, adjusting his stance and repositioning his wings' knuckles on the dusty ground. "Not specifically bloodsuckers, no. We eat flesh as well, but blood is what gives us our vitality. uniquely designed to digest and thrive on the life force of others. We still prefer large prey, but will lower ourselves to hunt goblins or younglings if food is scarce."
Kos'mari is awake. Hungry. And awake. Rumbling to himself he glanced out over the cavernous darklands, sniffing the breeze. He wasn't going to feed from the changeling fauns he guarded, not today. He was hungry for something larger. With more flesh. Nyarlagroth were nesting nearby. More than enough for him to feed on at his leisure if he could corner it. Slowly creeping down the hardened stone walls and cliffs from his lair's hidden entrance.
Stricklander rubbed two fingers as if rubbing away an invisible smudge of dirt. Yet it was clear his disgust was not for the vampyric troll before him, but rather, the presence of the raw meat.
"Let's just say 'the fire has been contained.' He peered at his fingers for a moment, as if suddenly aware of the gesture. Clearing his throat, he continued, "I need to know...if you've ever seen one come back from this, when it's this bad."
He didn't need to specify what 'This' was in reference to Rob. His aggression. His mania. His ferality.
Koz's eyes sharpened at the notion the fire was contained. He growled looming closer. "Explain. he's half helheeti, he can not lose his flame. I assume you are speaking through half truths." his fur bristled slightly, a warning. He would not strike the queen of the darklands, but he was less than thrilled to suspect an individual he had tried to pull under his wing was in trouble.
Stricklander's eyes flick briefly to Batitaros fangs as he plucked absently at a cowl blade.
"Have you heard of...something that I can only describe as 'deeply unhallowed.' A child resulting from a what I can only assume was a deeply troubled Polymorph and a helheet union?"
"the fire borne impure." He spoke pretty confident he knew of whom Stricklander spoke of. "I know of it, Why." he fixed Stricklander with a wary glare unsure as of yet on how much information to disclose.
"Batitarous" Queen Stricklander has returned with another offering of meat, his tribunal cloak signifying he considered this a diplomatic visit. The meat is a watery white bird flesh in tightly wrapped packages. "I had hoped you'd have a moment to speak with me, on the matter of a changeling."
Kos'mari glanced over standing up from where he rested to approach Stricklander warily. "Speak your question." changelings peered from the darkness well protected by the massive creature that stood as warden. He stretched out a claw to take the offered flesh.

He frowned, chittering softly in his native tongue, worry clear in his tone. "right... you don't have to worry." He slowly lifted the small changeling, making sure she wasn't going to squirm, before starting to climb up the wall of the buildings. he knew where one medic was that might know how to treat a changeling. He just hoped the little creature wouldn't react poorly to what it was.
That was one of the things that Alex was arguably best at, worrying - except the times when she was distracted by other factors. In this case, she was doing her damnedest not to wriggle. It would inflame body ever further, drawing more suffering to already suffering form.
Groaning softly in the back of throat as the strange winged troll began it's ascent across bricked surfaces, what parts of Alex that could tuck themselves close to her body did so. It lessened the pain, however marginally, and in turn made her easier to hold amidst broad claws.
The primary act she really wanted to perform was to find somewhere to sleep and wait for the worst to pass - but that was something that would have to be postponed for the future.
The only thing the female could do now was endure.
Koz frowned, worried for the little changeling. he moved quickly enough, taking routes across buildings and through alleys before slipping into forgotten subway tunnels. The pitchblack did little to slow him down as he moved. Soon enough, he came to a stop, the familiar thrumming glow of crystals surrounding them as he entered an alcove torn from the walls of the decommissioned tunnels. odd nets suspended herbs and bottles overhead as he set Alex on one of the cots. "Don't move. the medic is trustworthy despite his looks." Over his shoulder, a large humanoid spider slipped from the roof, landing on the ground before slowly approaching. Already pulling on sterile gloves. "Let's see what the issue is."
"Careful which challenge you speak into existence."
"easy. Breathe. find your second wind." He rumbled, reaching out to steady her again. "can you move on your own or do you need help?" Large claws held protectively as one might do to shield a small flame. Ready to catch the changeling if she fell.
To her credit, the female did try to do as the creature bid her.
Deep breaths were taken, an incomprehensible murmur passing lips in response to questioning between them, as weight shifted to try and hold herself up without aid. It was difficult with limbs that were warped somewhere on a sliding scale between her two natures - but she was able to manage. For a minute at least. Exhaustion leeched most of her strength.
It didn't take much longer for the most contorted limb of hers to buckle.
Body, surprisingly light compared to what most of her kind would be, fell into waiting talons. At the impact her teeth reflexively grit, stifling most escaping noise and turning it instead to a drawn out sss.
'...I need the help.' She was a stranger to painful times once again, too many years had passed. She was weak. Yet, Alex wanted to get back to those she called family - and she was not so proud as to not ask for assistance. 'Please.'

Koz stretched out like a feline on a stone cavern floor, yawning, his wings splaying open. it's hot. but inside the cave, the stone floors were cool to the touch and a good way to cool off. he's gonna nap here. at least until sundown and hunger drives him back to the surface.

I cannot stomach your kin's blood they say. Well. That was a minor relief; yet the ensuing contact of talons to flesh, working around her own limbs to get better grip, had Alex's heart leap frightfully up into her throat. Even if they couldn't eat her they could still-- ah fuck that hurt!
Crying out wordlessly as the stranger hefted her up to stand, the searing pain of multiple injuries at once makes the changeling's vision swim with stars. Nausea too battles for dominance in her stomach. By some sheer force of willpower, however, the woman manages to not retch. Instead she'll sway unsteadily once great paws of the bat-troll-thing release her; she just... needed a moment to gather herself.
'Uh-huh-' A distracted agreement. Once again hands find themselves pressing around the worst of wounds to staunch agitated weeping. 'More might show up...'

[@batitaros] "... I had assumed one of my own kin were feeding with so much blood in the wind..." A low rumbling baritone sounded from overhead. A large mass moving along the side of the building, making it's way to the ground well outside of Alex's reach. "That said... you look like you could use a hand."
She doesn't know how long sleep had claimed her from her pain. All the changeling knows is that one minute she was struggling with maintaining consciousness, and then the next her mind was being dragged wake by a stranger's voice that worked its way through mental haze with its weight.
Tired eyes cracking to fixate on the shape creeping its way towards her... it does not take long before a fresh spike of adrenalin stabs itself into chest. It was large. Almost as large as some trolls he knew. Multi-limbed with an uncanny appearance of a bat in it's visage and to top it all off it was winged. Danger stacked on danger that she could do little about with her wounds in present form. Shuffling to curl in upon herself, hands bloodied by previous strife move to cover vulnerabilities from view as pointed ears pinned back.
'A friendly hand, I hope.' Comes soft rasp, a gentle hiss following words as speaking agitated throat. 'You have hungry eyes...'
"Hungry yes. But you may rest without worry. I can not stomach your kin's blood." He moved slowly, violent red glowing brighter to better announce his presence. Large claws, deceptively gentle, wrapped around her, hoisting her carefully to her feet. "Stand. it is not safe for a change-skin to remain here." He had been hungry, but seeing another brought to near ruin by humans stirred something within his chest. vandetta, maybe, or pity. Either way, he would offer help if she'd accept it.
