When writing Zenance fanfiction I discovered something new about me...I think I really like the situation where these two are gender swapped but nothing can replace the original dynamics

And while we're on the topic of Nya being denied her trauma by canon. Isn't it crazy how little her relationship to Skybound is discussed in canon text. Like yeah there's the obvious part of her being forced into a marriage and being effectively sexually assaulted, but I kinda do get why future seasons didn't wanna dwell on that too much given yk. Kids show. But also like. When you think about it Nya played a huge role in Skybound going down as it did. Remember one of Nadakhan's biggest driving forces is the downfall of Djinnjago, which happened because its sister realm got destroyed, which was caused DIRECTLY BY NYA when she killed the Preeminent. Like just think about that - her True Potential moment, the moment she let go of her perfectionism and (supposedly) became a better version of herself, destroyed not one but TWO entire realms along with possibly thousands of innocent inhabitants in them. (Even if you argue all cursed spirits are evil you can't say the same abt djinn.) Like that has to affect her emotionally, right? Doesn't she feel responsible, guilty even, for her greatest moment to be the cause of so many innocent deaths? Even if Skybound itself got erased from the timeline, the consequences of Nya's actions didn't, and thanks to DR we know this for an undeniable FACT.

There's that moment in DR where we first meet Arrakore where Nya is explaining to Sora that "Djinnjago got destroyed bc its sister realm was destroyed" and I remember seeing that moment and thinking to myself, jokingly, "wow Nya. Excellent use of the passive voice there. Way to dodge the truth huh". Except it never gets revealed that technically she's the reason for Arrakore's grief. We get to see Arrakore mourn his losses and then slowly regain his hope by rebuilding bit by bit the world he's lost and at NO point, EVER, does ANYONE point out that Nya is the one responsible for all of this. We don't get to see how Arrakore feels about having met the person who caused the downfall of Djinnjago, how he feels knowing that it was unintentional and impossible to avoid from the ninjas' persective, but it still happened. Even more importantly we don't get to see how NYA feels about all this. Sure she's seen Nadakhan and the shit he pulled upon learning his home was gone but this time it's just Some Dude whose heartbreak is not overshadowed by his own shitty attitude. She's seeing directly the consequences of her actions and we get... absolutely nothing from her about it.

And like, why? Skybound rarely gets talked about, which again, I get why, but whenever it's brought up Jay always gets to have his "umm, what if we talked about something else haha?" trauma moment. Skybound might no longer be part of the timeline but Nya's actions and their consequences ARE and yet we get NOTHING on how she feels about that fact. Zero acknowledgement it ever happened. (And before anyone comes with the "it's a reboot they don't have to bring up every niche thing that happened previously" excuse, if they could bring back the Tomorrow's Tea shit for Lloyd, I'm sure they could bring up Nya's literal True Potential moment too.)

Anyway. Can you guys imagine how much more interesting the Arrakore plot would've been if Nya was allowed to like. Acknowledge Skybound and the ending of Possession in literally any way shape or form

I really cannot explain how much I love the "Jay, Cole, and Kai trying to deal with the chaos monster without Lloyd knowing" scene. It genuinely feels like they're trying to hide the mess from Master Wu.

This plus Lloyd being the chosen delegate of Ninjago for the Summit and Percival saying that Lloyd is " the most well known and trusted citizen".

Having just been above the intended age range for this show when it came out; you can technically say I grew up with the ninja. I remember Little Shit Lloyd™ and the trouble he used to cause. I dunno if it's just me, or the writers did a very well job, but I felt a definite change in his character after the Ritual of Uprooting (even tho he traditionally failed). Like after all Lloyd has been through; the final puzzle had finally been placed.

Lloyd is my comfort character. And I can't feel nothing but pride seeing how far he's come ( tho I do wish he kept a part of his prankster ways even if a little bit).

till one day, around shintaro borders,

after the commotion died, vania curiously approached the serpentine ninja.

vania: "i'm vania.... so, do you come here by yourself? i know the ninja always travel in packs"

vania offered her palace for place to rest to the young ninja

some part of her wanted to ask frak if cole is still alive but she doubt frak would know cole

it's been so long since she heard any stories of the ninja

last she heard, the ninja got separated after the merge quakes

i like to think cole followed the trio along

cuz it has been a while since he visited his mother down in the temple of the earth

and also, there was a certain someone he must meet

a princess with golden hair and blue eyes

cole snuck inside the palace, only to be detained by hailmarr and his men since his disguise made him look like a beggar

cole begged to see the queen

cole then used his powers to prove he's the elemental master of earth

the guards let him go

cole then stumbled upon vania and chompy in the palace gardens

vania: "who's there? show yourself?"

cole: "vania... it's me"

vania: "cole?"

her eyes couldn't believe, the elemental master of earth in the flesh

except he looked older and more rugged than she remembered

she hugged cole as tight as she could
