some simple rules:

i'm mutuals-only so i can easily curate my dash. i get easily overwhelmed. i'm more likely to follow manga and gameverse folks and characters from older games. i'm not up to date with any games past xy, sorry. ^^;

i'm slow!! i have school and a part-time job so i'm not online a lot. my activity will be low and sporadic.

i'll write anything from one-liners to multi-para replies. anything longer tends to exhaust me but i'll consider it if the thread calls for it.

while my portrayal of red is as canon-compliant as i can be (i just... love him and think he's a very well-written character, okay?), i may occasionally fill in the gaps with headcanons.

my portrayal is mangaverse, but i'm willing to adapt so i can write with gameverse folks since the mangaverse side of the rpc seems to be dead. my dms are open!

i'm multiship over here, though red is sort of a dummy when it comes to romance. romantic shipping is not my priority but i'm willing to write it if our characters ever hit it off that way.

red is literally the quintessential hero and an insanely skilled trainer who solves things with violence and the power of friendship. don't expect him to go down easily. :)

please respect your fellow rpers, myself included! i'll extend you the same courtesy. just here to write, have fun, and occasionally scream over my favorite lil guy.

this has been living in my head rent-free all day but OF COURSE red's love language is basically acts of service, dude sucks at words and will disappear for months at a time but he will also drop everything and/or fight anyone the moment someone needs his help

doing things for them without being asked to

you're observant and you know your loved ones so well, you know when to do things for them without having to ask (or be asked) what they need. they don't always know how much you do for them; there's no need to point it out, you're just happy to help.

you do things simply to make others feel better and lighten their burdens, and expect nothing in return: their happiness is enough for you, even if they don't always know you're the one who caused it. still, as good as it might feel to give and give and keep on giving, please allow them to do things for you in return. people feel better when they're being helpful (you should know this, more than anyone) and no matter how hard it might feel for you to accept help from someone, you should take it when they readily give it to you.

you deserve to be loved in the way you love them, too. you won't be a burden -- and remember: a real friend will love you even when you're not constantly being useful, because your company is more than enough.

Misty smiles sweetly at him when he relents to her and she claps her hands in front of her. ❝ You will? Then let's go suit shopping! We have time to go right now, right? ❞ She chats animatedly for a few seconds to tease him a little before stepping back, her easygoing smile returning to its gentle state.

The idea of seeing Red around everyone again strangely makes Misty happy. Them all together and catching up like no time had passed. So, of course she tricked him.

She laughs as his hands drag down the sides of his face, nudging him playfully. ❝ It won't be that bad, they're always more fun with friends around. ❞

"w-wait, right now?" he's not in the business of stuttering, he's really starting to become annoyed with himself. nevertheless, he doesn't really have anything else that he needs to do pressingly, at this very moment...

only belatedly does he realize that she might be messing(?) with him, which does disappoint him a little. can he really be trusted to pick a suit all by himself?? he doesn't know the first thing about dressing fancy.

he sighs again, hiding a ruddy blush beneath a gloved hand. why does she have to be cute like that?

"you're right, though. i wouldn't really consider goin' to one of these things if none of my friends were going. still, you gotta admit i'll be so out of place at this thing." he's just a country bumpkin who happens to be really good at battling, misty, what do you want from him?

Misty blanches and almost immediately begins to bloom into the colour of a Tamato Berry at the question. She doesn't run for she cannot lie anyway and so averts her eyes shyly.

❝ Y-yeah... ❞ she admits. ❝ For science. ❞

No one judge her. Can she go drown herself now?

"Camping... yes, just like old times!" She laughs, wondering when they had ever camped together---at least without a world-ending threat hanging over their heads. She wonders how boring that would be: just a bunch of grown up child-heroes without the added spice of adrenaline. Should she try calling Silver? Not that her brother could salvage this camping trip, but at least she'd have someone there to talk to.

And if this little conversation was a preview of what it would be like on their camping get-together, she's going to need someone there. Already, she doesn't know what to say. Was this really how distant they've gotten over the years? Then again, they had never been the kind of friends who poured their hearts out to each other despite whatever they've been through in the past.

"Red..." She sighs, her shoulders dropping slightly. "Is it just me or..." No, she can't tell him her biggest fear, he can't know that she thinks they had nothing connecting them if not for the battles they had to face as children.

"...Is it just me or have you grown so much taller? I swear you're supposed to be shorter than me. Even with the hair spike.."

it's... much harder to talk to blue than he had hoped. an unpleasant feeling coils in the pit of his stomach like a seviper as he realizes that one of his greatest fears might have become reality when it comes to the two of them.

they've drifted apart.

talking to green was certainly easier. they always had something or other to discuss about the international battle scene, or each other's travels. even talking to yellow the scarce times that they did still felt more natural, especially because the viridian healer was always so eager to open up to him.

blue, though... he suspects she has her shields up again, expertly maneuvering the conversation away from herself. what happened to make things this way?

he's curious but not willing to push his luck. at this rate, he's desperate to keep the conversation going so he leans into her comment about his height.

"hnn yeah, a little," he acknowledges, brows arched above inquisitive crimson eyes. he's grown over half a foot since they first met, and he now stands at a very average five feet and eight inches of height. blue, meanwhile, barely reaches the top of his shoulders.

idly, a hand comes to rest on the top of his head, flattening his aforementioned spiky hair. twenty-two years of life and he still hasn't figured out how to tame it. "you haven't changed at all, though. dare i say... you're still pocket-sized."

he offers her a sheepish grin.

One of those faces...

Cue the small tinge of suspicion from the delivery girl. Though it wasn't the distrusting kind. More that his choice of words didn't quite match. Then again, she always did have trouble with her memory. It was a miracle she could even get her packages to their intended destination. Speaking of which, beside her was a shopping bag filled with styrofoam boxes of various takeout meals, her hand clutching around the thin plastic handle.

"I guess so, but if you were really that ordinary than you would have blended in more with the crowd," and thus even missing more of his opportunity to score the delicious musabi snack.

At least she was right that Red was visiting Alola. The island did get a lot of tourist. Indeed the question was asked "Oh? Then where are you from anyways?" There, that should help her get more hints on who he was. Even the sound of his voice was slightly familiar. Perhaps one she heard in passing somewhere. The radio? TV? The ones in the Pokecenter café often would record and play stuff from other regions.

Though it wasn't so much his appearance rather than his outburst that caught her attention. Especially one relating to food.

Speaking of which...

"Ehhhh...are you sure??"

Oh no, the food from the stalls did smell so good. Maybe she should really take a break. She pensively stared down the street trying to ignore the fact her own stomach was starting to growl lightly. She breathed out a sigh knowing very well her own body was betraying her will to finish her job. The deliveries could wait a bit longer, right?

"Actually..yeaah that sounds really good. How about you pick something out to surprise me, too? I think that would be a fair trade, no?"

"it's my hair, sticks out..." red mutters, ready to abandon the topic, though her follow-up question makes it all but impossible. he rubs the back of his head sheepishly and then angles himself toward the stalls. "c'mon, let's walk 'n talk. i'll pick stuff as we go."

despite the crowds, the streets of konikoni city are wide enough that they can make their way without much issue. red eyes each of the stalls caredully as they pass them.

"i'm from kanto originally. spent most of my life there, though i've been traveling to other regions recently." a particularly scrumptious-smelling stall catches his eye and he signals for lynn to stop so he can check out the menu.

"mana... pua?" he sounds out the name of the local specialty, which looks very much like a steamed bun. the aroma of sweet cooked pork makes his gut do somersaults.

"excuse me, can we have a couple of those, please?" he flags the vendor and then reaches for his wallet; it's a worn leather case that's clearly seen better days.

as soon as the exchange of food and coins takes place, he holds out a bun to lynn. "you a local?"
