☤ “Diagnostic tests? On me?” The android blinked, the expression one of surprise- perhaps a little less enthusiastic than a normal human would be. But he was trying. Learning. It was a process that took an ample amount of time. (It did not help things that Baymax was learning about emoting from human dramas- he took them very seriously).
“I have done self diagnostics this morning. Everything is functioning at optimum efficiency. This seems unnecessary.” There was a moment of silence as the robot seemed to realize that open dissent against his human creator was against his nature.
“Forgive me, I will gladly assist in any testing you may need.”
“I completely understand your apprehension.” Tadashi smiled. “And for that I apologize, I should’ve gotten your consent first before dropping this on you.” He bowed.
If Tadashi were to learn human emotions then he need to treat Baymax like any other human being, and that includes asking for consent, no matter how ridiculous in the eyes of others that may be.
“I’m glad your emotional programming is still functioning in the right places. Wouldn’t have you acting happy when you’re not.” He smiled as he began to boot his computer.
☤ “Technically, I don’t believe I feel happiness or sadness. I am simply reacting the way that is expected of me because of my new appearance.” He obediently walked to the side of his creator, his movements still somewhat robotic. He had yet to master the fluidity of a human. But again, this was fairly new.
“But if you wish to do a diagnostic test I will oblige. There is no need to ask my permission.” As Tadashi predicted, Baymax found the concept of ‘asking’ to be absurd. He was too polite to go into more detail about why this was unnecessary, but perhaps Tadashi would be able to understand without him having to explain.
He pushed his glasses up his nose looking expectantly at the young man. “What do you need me to do? I can give you access to my chip, my internal wiring, what part of me will you be analyzing?”
