The Voice
The Timeless debate Between hard work and fate Has been in my hands as of late. I pondered my take On if the artist creates His harvest from hate Or if they clean their plate from the Darkest memories their life has made. this argument haunts me late at night because I tend to relate to both sides of the coin I see the essence of myself in each picture on one side I am who they hate. on the other my darkest days pushed me further so I can’t pick one to rise above the other I was made to walk a fine line my brother and through all my days I never meant to throw shade or degrade the work of my peers. I’ve made a habit shattering expectations these past couple years but as for how I view my words and dedication I view myself as the voice of a nation that forgot how to speak when brought to the feet of a giant. I view myself as David taking on the tyrants. Because The people don’t need a yes man they need defiance they need someone hot enough to withstand the climate.
Hard Work to keep
From the balcony I can see it now, it’s concrete. I never had an excuse to shift in my seat because despite the fact I look down on you now, you still look up to me. that tells me your eager to grow up into what we’re gonna be, Just like me we’re two of a kind, we like to speak from our hearts so pay our words no mind because impulsively we might flee but we will never throw away our destiny’s key. together we complete the recipe, and oh it’s bitter sweet how Happily ever afters hard work to keep.
This time I swear🤘🏼...
Trying something new with writing.. hope yal like it.
Silence and Irony.
By: Bay Wright
Wait, are we just gonna sit In silence
While they burn our land?
While they burn our names?
They’re snatching food out of our hands
While shoveling shame
Into the conscience of every man
Who doesn’t look the same
As their brothers or their friends,
They’re segregating unicorns
Just to get the upper hand.
What’s happened to society?
I don’t understand.
You say you know the truth
Because of your people’s past
But they aren’t you
And I didn’t ask
For the opinion of a stranger.
Follow the North Star
Back to your parked car.
I don’t need any wise men
In my manger.
Your ancestors wore shackles
And still had enough hope to dream.
Don’t let your attitude tackle
You from discovering
Who you are meant to be.
Greatness has always been hovering
Around you and me.
It’s been barely out of grasp,
too far away to see.
Nobody cares about yesterday
It’s sad but true, one day you’ll see.
Bring up the past enough
And it will haunt all that you do.
Stop clinging on to excuses
And cut the noose
Before you kill your self
Trying to light a bomb
Without a fuse.
Clean slate
By: Bay Wright
I numb myself to freeze the pain, But it stays Tormenting me inside my brain. I can taste, The way you looked the other way on that day, I took a shot at a love that ran away.
Now the sunshine is cold like freezing rainAnd my eyes are stained by the beauty of her face. Looking back I wouldn’t take it any other way, I’d rather see her go than love me for a day.
What else can I say, I’m a lover who falls for leavers, the seasons may change but my heart stays blue. I always fall way to fast for girls like you.
Girls that look like Carolina hills on a spring day, girls that stain my mind like Georgia clay, Girls that coast through life like California waves, have always been the quickest to push me away.
You would think by now I would’ve learned but I haven’t changed. To me hiding how I feel is like swallowing pain. Rejection fucking hurts but atleast I can say, I put my love on a scale for her to weigh.
I’d rather swallow rejection than regret never confessing, my affection toward a girl who changed my hearts direction. I know Beauty is in perception and I’m slowly learning lessons, About how our imperfections can be blessings everyday.
So what you lose some, who cares if they don’t feel the same way, one day I’m going to find a girl that was worth the wait. I’m going to find me a lover to clean my slate.
Land of the free
By: Bay Wright
Marxist people have Marxist intentions
Don’t let them persuade you any other way.
Protests aren’t peaceful behind flames,
Without order chaos reigns.
You can’t sensor one side of the table
Just because you think a different way.
Breaking laws to enforce justice
Pushes justice farther away.
Think for yourself, it’s important today
To have fresh voices speaking over
Old poisons. The definition of insanity
Is never learning from your bad choices.
Problems are out there for those who look
I’m not saying there not.
I’m just saying we don’t have to set fire
To everything that we have
because we have a lot.
Listen, Bad apples fall under every tree.
Life’s not perfect, so don’t make it out to be.
Finding yourself helps, take it from me
Im still discovering who I am and how I fit
Into this society. Lying to yourself
Just means that you will lie to me.
Please don’t slander who I am
Just because our eyes never meet.
I’ve never been one to damn a man
For what he believes.
Character is all that really matters to me.
Unless you cling to radical beliefs.
I don’t know about you but I happen
to like this life that I see.
America’s always catered to the masses
Not to the few who think differently.
To be honest that’s the definition of a democracy.
We don’t all want the world to burn
So speak up before it becomes our reality.
If you don’t like something be the change,
Do it right, good things happen gradually.
You can’t build a house in one night,
It takes time to change a society.
So let’s change tonight starting with you
and me. Let’s be proud to live
in the land of the free,
Let’s take charge of our lives and morph
Them into how we’d like them to be.
Let’s keep America the home of the brave
And the land of the free.
Beautiful Affliction
By: Bay Wright
A fact turned fiction
Due to inabilities to listen
Blew the pistons
Of our love’s precision
Different visions
Caged our hearts
In separate prisons
Constant contradiction
Killed my beautiful affliction.
Keep In Mind
By: Bay Wright
Active fists aren’t activists
common sense sheds light to this.
Who we’ll become after this
Depends on how we mend the fence.
Let’s not talk in past tense about problems
When the future presents
A light to guide us away from the darkness
We are dwelling in.
Don’t ride the fence,
Speak your mind,
The truth will come out give it time.
Who we’ll become after this
Depends on our state of mind.
My life’s not yours
Your life’s not mine.
What your parents did
Is not your crime.
Who my people were
Does not define
The man I am
Keep that in mind.
Mary Goes ‘Round
By:Bay Wright
She may be from the country
But she belongs to the streets.
She’s a detective under covers
Of every guy she meets.
Don’t fall for her my brother
You will only last a week.
She’s a one and done kind of lover
Who doesn’t belong on a leash.
So you might as well set her free.
Because it’s hard to be sweet
To a girl who only wants you
Like a dog does a treat.
She’s a silver tongued reak
Who lies through her teeth
Just ignore her when she speaks.
She’s a Ferris wheel
Goin around and around
And around and around.
Bringing people up
Just to take them down.
She’s a virus
Passed around and around
And around and around.
Every boy with a pick up
In this damned ole town.
Can’t you see
Mary goes ‘round.
Believe me
Mary goes ‘round.
Goodbye Ring
By: Bay Wright
It was a July sunset
Under a northwest Georgia sky.
The setting was perfect
The ceiling was high.
I knew everything about her
Aside from how she said goodbye
When my knee hit the pasture
I saw the ending in her eye.
She said you’re too sweet boy
Far too sweet for me.
You deserve an angel
Not a rotten apple from a tree.
I didn’t understand her angle
Or why she was spilling
Her Secrets to me.
Until I realized
she read My intentions
And she didn’t want
to commit to a boy like me
Will you marry me?
Are Four words I never asked.
All I got from that day
Was a broken heart
And pants stained by grass.
Was happily ever after
Too much to ask?
Now she hits the town
And I fill my flask.
I should have read the signs
I thought we felt the same.
She had goodbye on her eyes
When I tried to change her name.
L(only) One
By: Bay Wright
The mirror reflects a lonely one.
The mirror reflects the only one.
The heart holds all the damage done.
The mind runs from the setting sun
As A father looks down upon his son
Regret fills his house from damage done.
An angels mouth with a serpents tongue
Spits sin out like a loaded gun.
He wonders if he’s the only one.
The mirror reflects a lonely one.
Life to him is a setting sun.
With the heat on his back he’s on the run.
Wearing the blame, the prodigal son.
The trigger pulling boy known for fun.
But who supplied the bullets for the gun?
The father passed his sins to his only son.
The father watches the fire leave his eyes
As clouds fill the sky, angels cry.
He wouldn’t feel shame for any other guy.
the boy sits alone asking who am I.
The father screams down you are mine.
Thunder shakes the ground
As Lightning strikes.
Evils all around, it’s about to storm
All the boy can do now is hold on tight.
The mirror reflects a lonely one.
The mirror reflects the only one.
The heart holds all the damage done.
The mind runs from the setting sun
This is all for you father!
The boy shouts from his room.
All for you father!
For this you can’t excuse.
A sinful tune father!
Is what I play for you
To listen too father.
Have I payed my dues?
It only takes One man to hold a gun
But everyone can see the damage done.
Love Tonight
By: Bay Wright
The way you look tonight
Is almost more than I can handle.
Im fiending like a vandal
To embrace your loving eyes.
I know people like to fight,
But not us we don’t bite.
You’re like a lantern in the night
The way you turn dark to light.
So just be who you are
And I’ll be who I am.
We can cruise down
the boulevard
In my fathers beat up
old trans am.
Just like Bonnie and Clyde
Tonight Let’s take a ride.
The world may turn to smoke
From the fire in our eyes.
But that will be alright
As long as we find
love tonight.
Every tattoo, every scar.
Made us who we are.
Every minute, every mile
Brought tears and smiles.
People ask what it’s like
To have a love see past tomorrow.
I say it’s like a rainbow in the night
Too bright for the dark to swallow.
Sin Eater
By: Bay Wright
You’re the doubt that’s killing me
Cut me open, watch me bleed.
Be the problem I don’t need
Tear me down, plant the seed.
Fill my hands full of greed
Kill my passion, steal my deeds.
Wash my brain til I believe
The sins you’ve raised Belong to me.
I hope it will make you feel better.
You can’t deal with your emotions
That’s why we’re not together.
Because Im not your sin eater,
I don’t have burlap skin.
I’m not You’re sin eater
I know you’re drinking again
And if you’ve had one shot
You’ve had too many.
I can’t watch over you
Like the heavens sent me.
I’m not your sin eater
Do you understand me?
Kiss me (if you’re with me..)
By: Bay Wright
Let’s not ruin a good thing
Oh no,
Let’s just make it better.
It’s time to tell the world
What we do when we’re together.
I’ll admit at first
keeping secrets made it better
But even you know
We can’t guard our hearts forever.
.
So kiss me if you’re with me
Let me go if it’s a no.
I can’t take it slow forever
While my heart aches for more.
I don’t want to be your low key
Like under the mat beside the door
I want to be your only
I want to be your something more.
I don’t mean to put you on the spot
But every shooter knows their shot
And when I look down my sights
You’re the only woman I’ve got
That makes my head spin.
My heartbeat race,
They say love is a marathon
And I think I’ve found my pace.
So Don’t tell me that these feelings
Are completely one sided.
You have to let love in
And stay open minded
So tell me what’s prying
On your heart strings,
Tell me what you’ve decided.
I deserve to know the truth
Even if it hurts i won’t mind it.
So kiss me if you’re with me
Let me go if it’s a no.
I can’t take it slow forever
While my heart is aching for more.
I don’t want to be your low key
Like under the mat beside the door
I want to be your only
I want to be your something more.
