Greyâs Anatomy Series Finale Idea
Imagine the last episodeâŚcutting to 25 years in the future and Meredith has developed Alzheimerâs. She has been in Roseridge for a couple years. Zola, Bailey, and Ellis visit her all the time. In this moment, Zola is seen holding a journal and reading it to Meredith. In this moment, we realize that Greyâs has been the retelling of the stories that were jotted down by Meredith. We realize that Meredith has had the disease all along. We also acknowledge that she wrote in journals like her mother did because she feared forgetting and wanted to remember everything.Â
Meredith eventually won the harper avery, found love again, and had a monumental career.Â
Meredith is then visited by Alex and Miranda. They talk to her and try to get her to remember who she is and who they are. Alex talks about how he never thought that he would be the last one. He talks about how he appreciated never giving up on him. Miranda then talks about how through the good and the bad, she became a brilliant surgeon and was proud of her. She also talks about how her kids will be taken care of when she is gone.Â
There is a knock on the door, and Callie and Arizona come in. They come in and talk to her and tell her about everything that has gone on. Penny and Callie broke up and Callie got back together with Arizona after they got coffee while meeting to exchange Sofia for the summer. Meredith is still unaware of who exactly they are but she has a feeling that she knows these people.Â
There is one more knock. Yang opens the door and Meredithâs face instantly lights up. She knows who she is and she immediately goes back to the time she was at Seattle Grace/Seattle Grace Mercy West/ Grey Sloan. This triggers the lucid moment in time. She recognizes everyone around her. She doesnât know why she isnât at home. She breaks down. Her health is poor and she begins to arrest.Â
We see people come in to the room to try and save her. (Flash to Meredith in the hospital walkingâŚlooking distinguished and old). The people start to do CPR and her friends and family are devastated. (Meredith is walking down the halls of the hospital). They begin to bag her to get air into her lungs. (Meredith walks through the OR and remembers the familiar area). They put gel on the paddles and yell clear, inaudibly. (Meredith walks down the lobby stairs). They shock Meredith. (She walks to the elevator and presses the up button). They go for another round. (Meredith gets in the elevator). They have done everything that they could. (The doors open up revealing the young Meredith that we saw in the showâŚas Chasing Cars begins to play.)
Meredith is now dead and everyone around her is distraught and sad. They are crying and you can see the anger and anguish on their faces. (Meredith steps off the elevator to see Derek and Mark talkingâŚDerek turns around and the smile on his face shows that they were meant to be. Lexie runs to Mark and they are staring at Meredith and Derek embracing. Richard has died, and is now reunited with Adele and they are in the presence of Mark and Lexie and Meredith and Derek. We see George and Doc appear, and we see that Meredith is with the people she loved. Lastly we see Ellis Grey walk up to Meredith and hug her. She is clearly proud of her daughterâŚthe camera pans out to Meredith taking in her surrounds and being with her people.Â
The screen goes black and âGreyâs Anatomyâ appears for the very last timeÂ
