Her hands were clenched into fist at her sides as she paced the floor. Her tail whipped behind her in agitation. Tsu'tey was crouched on the floor, grabbing his bow before securing his dagger in its sheath. The two hardly spoke a single word to each other after their fight the previous night. Tsu'tey kept Rina in his sight all through the night but that was the extent of it.
"It is final, Rina." Tsu'tey mutters, rising to his full height.
Rina unclenches her fingers as her pacing comes to a stop. She feels the familiar tightness in her chest return as she speaks.
"Who are you to decide that? Over-over what...me breaking a rule based on good judgement."
"Wrong." He turns back around, grabbing his arrows before stepping around Rina-his shoulder brushing hers. "You never have good judgment when it comes to them."
Rina spins around, preparing to defend herself but Tsu'tey continues.
"You are to stay here; take you lessons with Mo'at."
"Lessons?" She echoed, mouth turned down. "So, I could do what? Watch you wed Neytiri, while I tell you the will of Eywa?"
Both Tsu'tey and Rina freeze the moment the words leave her mouth. She pulls at a few strands of her hair before walking out of the alcove.Β

"The will of Eywa Rina...really?" Rina hisses through gritted teeth as she yanks her bow from the ground. "You πππ₯ππ€ππ." She grabs a handful of arrows, clutching the hard material in her fist.
Rina had a mouth when she was angry, she'll admit it. Only few could take her...outburst. Tsu'tey had learned to manage it, helped her even during them. She had them under control until the incident years ago and now it felt like her world had been unraveling since.
She slides the bow over her torso-the anger flaring in her chest once more at the thought of Tsu'tey. He was out hunting, and he expected her to what-play Tsahik. She bites back a hiss as she makes her way down the spiral.
"Your lessons...Rina..." A voice calls out behind her.
Rinas steps falter as she turns slightly. Mo'at stood gracefully-a knowing gaze coating her eyes. She touches her forehead with her fingers before lowering them. Rina could feel herself breathe in sharply when Mo'at steps closer.
"You skipped your lessons last time..." Mo'at murmurs, hands clasped together in front of her. "Surely, you aren't thinking of skipping again?"
Rina shifts her weight between her legs, hand clenching then relaxing. She keeps her gaze drawn to her feet.
"I must meet Neytiri out by the waterfall." She tries to reason.
"Ah-my daughter bringing you along for her trouble I see."
Rina nods, her lips drawn into a tight-lipped smile. Mo'at simply stares at her, amusement now taking over her features. Rina was fully prepared for the Tsahik to drag her off, but she simply just gave a wave of her hand toward Rina to leave. And of course, Rina wasn't going to question it.

Yards away from the hometree, a sharp-echoing call pulls Rina to a brief halt. Her gaze lands on Neytiri when she cranes her head to the towering branch. Neytiri jerks her head to the side where the growing sounds of footsteps begin to emerge. Rina adjusts her bow before climbing the neighboring tree to Neytiri. Her leg still felt stiff whenever she placed too much weight onto it, but Mo'ats herbs thankfully had took most of the pain away.
A figure emerges just below, carrying a poorly crafted spear. Rina presses her back against the tree, the leaves caressing her skin. Her tail wrapped around her leg as she cranes her neck to see. Rinas lips part in surprise when she recognizes the dreamwalker from the RDA camp. Her eyes immediately dart around for her Mother.
The dreamwalkers head turns trying to locate what Rina was sure was Neytiri and herself. Why was he this close to the clan? Why wasn't he with her Mother?
Rina glances at Neytiri before silently moving her bow. She positions her arrow, finger grazing the tip as she pulls her arm back.
She begins to remember the interaction between him and her mother and she tilts her head quickly, trying to shake off the uneasy feeling. This was the enemy. They were responsible for the bloodshed.
Rina glances at Neytiri as the older pulls back her arm quickly preparing to release the arrow but before she could an atokirina (woodsprite) floats down gently, resting on the tip of Neytiri's arrow.
Rina stares in disbelief, her own bow still in position aiming at the dreamwalker. When Neytiri moves her arrow from its mark, Rina prepares to shoot her own but falters when she feels another settle on her hand. She lowers her hand as it floats away. Rina doesn't tear her gaze away until it disappears.
Movement flickers in her peripheral and Rina spots Neytiri gesturing for her to meet her on the ground.
Rina looks over her shoulder to where the dreamwalker disappeared before climbing down the tree. She slides her bow back over her torso as she walks up to Neytiri.
"Why were you late?" Neytiri murmurs, glancing down at Rinas leg.
"Tsu'tey...and then your mother." Rina whispers, pushing her hair back over her shoulder.
"Another argument? What this time?"
Rina waves her off before she glances over her shoulder as if expecting the dreamwalker or her mother to appear.
Rina turns back towards Neytiri, "Why do you think he's this close to the clan?"
Neytiri shrugs, "Does it matter? We shouldn't have let him get away."
"Maybe it's a good thing we did. The atokirina, remember?"
Neytiri narrows her eyes onto Rina, "What good does a dreamwalker alive bring, Rina?"
"So, why didn't you shoot?" Rina retorts.
Neytiri simply grunts while yanking Rina in the direction of the dreamwalker.
a/n: I didnβt like chapter 2 as much but hopefully I can write chapter 3 better! This was written weeks ago so thatβs probably why. Anyways! I hope youβre enjoying!
"This is our first...wait Mother what's it called again? Right-this is our first Log Entry. I'm making Tsu'tey do it with me. ββββToday, Tsu'tey read the entire book in english, not in front of the whole class of course. And he also wrote his name in full English on the chalkboard. But I think I'm better than Tsu'tey-ouch! βββTsu'tey is taking me out into the forest again, Mother says to be back before nightfall but Tsu'tey hardly listens-ouch!β
Rina presses herself low to the ground as she peeks through the fence of the Sky-People base. The RDA they call themselves, she's seen it painted on the side of their metal...vehicles...that's the word Mother used to describe them as. The foul smell in the air clogs her nose while sticking to her skin. Mother didn't smell like this always. Sometimes she smelled like the metal and the humans but sometimes she smelled like smoke and flowers. It was an odd combination but it was home despite the ache the memories left in her chest.
Tsu'tey despised the smell. And if he caught her, he would know she came back to the base and he'll curse her and the demons all the same. But then after he's calmed down, he would help wash the scent away until she smelled like herself again.
She draws her eyes south watching the dreamwalkers prance about. Some climbing their wooden obstacles, some playing with a ball. Basketball, she recalls. She pursues her lips before shifting into an upright position. The long plaited style of her dark hair coils down her back as she moves. Rina glances up at the sun, deeming it time to head back to meet Neytiri. She was taking Rina on another scouting trip. Her dislike of the Sky-people was evident but the scouting trips were beginning to grow tiresome.
Her ears suddenly twitch when a chorus of shouts ring out from over by the laboratory. Rina immediately shifts closer to a tree just to her left, craning her neck to see further into the yard. She spots a man stumbling as if he was trying to run. A white fabric loose around him with a wide smile creasing his face. Neytiri would call you a baby, strange man. She continues to watch as he skids to a stop in the garden. He digs his feet into the soil as if it were his first time. Rina tilts her head, eyes tracking the movement. She catches sight of his hands. Five fingers. Rina looks down at her own four before curling them into a fist against her chest.
Her body slowly tenses as she waits for the chaos to begin. But nothing did, just silence. The humans didn't wave their little metal machines around or shout at the top of their lungs.
"Hey, Marine!"
Rina's eyes follow the voice and she immediately left the safety of the tree and crept forward. The tall brittle grass scraps against her skin. Mother plucks a piece of fruit and tosses it at the man. He catches it without fault and takes a huge bite of it. But Rina barely paid the dreamwalker any mind. Her sole focus was her Mother.
It's been years since she talked to her Mother. It's the only reason she sneaks away from Tsu'tey. Rina often dreams of her. The way she held Rina in her arms every night. Told her stories. Taught her the world.
Before Rina realized, she was already at the fence.
"Mother." She whispers.
Her head tilts and a smile forms as she watches her Mother talk with the marine. The tightness in her chest seems to ease only slightly like it always did when she saw her. Rina shifts even closer once the stumbling marine was hauled away. Her Mother glances around the field, eyes drawing towards the trees as if she knew Rina was here. Rina wanted to climb the fence and run back into her Mother's arms but what good would that do when she'll be dead just a second after.
Eywa takes things away for a reason no one knows. She didn't want to test what would happen if someone tried to take it back.
Several shots like thunder take aim at her feet, colliding with the fence before her. She lets out a startled gasp as she stumbles back, pressing her body up against the tree.
"Savage spotted!"
"You sure it wasn't one of the scientists?"
Rina takes in a deep breath, hand grazing the hilt of her dagger. A few more heavy thumps approach the fence.
"Man, there's nothing there. It was probably just some stupid animal."
"No, I know what I saw. It was-"
"Can you two stop shooting at grass? Get your asses back here! Colonel wants to see us."
Rina looks over her shoulder before she pushes off the tree into a sprint. Her breath comes out in shallow puffs as she climbs up disappearing into the branches. A few more shots echo out accompanied by shouts before they die out completely.
"You πππ₯ππ€ππ!" She hisses.

Rina returned to hometree, hiding the limp in her walk as she climbs the spiral in hopes to avoid Tsu'tey. All she wanted to do was curl up in a ball and sleep. But Eywa clearly showed no mercy because Tsu'tey was waiting for her in the alcove they often rested in. She inhales before forcing the full weight on her injured leg.
Tsu'tey immediately turns around when she walks in. His gaze lingers on her leg before meeting her eyes. She quickly looked away, bringing her own gaze down to the claret colored band on her forearm-the same one Tsu'tey wore during hunts. When he stepped closer, Rina held her breath hoping he wouldn't smell the scent of the base but she knew the scent was pervasive even after she took a dip in the stream.
"Come." he says, voice firm and low.
"Tsu'tey-"
"Now!" He hissed.
Rina bares her teeth at her feet before following after him. He leads her deeper into the alcove before pulling her down by the arm. She watches as he moves around, muttering under his breath. He then places a basket of fruit on the ground in front of Rina. She looks at it confused before he gestures for her to eat.
"Assuming I didn't eat?" she speaks up.
"Did you?" he retorts, voice back to its original controlled state.
When she opens her mouth to protest, Tsu'tey already stepped out. She looks back down at the fruit before reluctantly grabbing one because of course she didn't eat.
It didn't take long for Tsu'tey to return and when he did, he didn't speak or look at her directly as he pulled out some of Mo'at's herbs. He grabbed her leg which caused an involuntary hiss to leave her lips. He lathered the herbs on her calf.
"You are banned from hunts." he says under his breath causing Rina to almost miss it.
Her eyes widen.
"You can't be serious-"
His gaze snaps to meet hers, "You went to their camp and then injured yourself. I can't trust you."
A wave of panic fell over Rina, "It was to see my Mother-"
Tsu'tey in one quick motion, cupped her chin in his large hand-bringing his face closer to hers eyes ablaze.
Rina's eyes dart between his in an attempt to find her words but none came. She just stared at him in disbelief.
Tsu'tey released her before returning to his previous task of wrapping her leg. He pulled everything tighter than what it needed to be but she knew he didn't mean it, they never did when they fought like this. But it still placed a heavy toll on her heart and it did for his too.
When he finished, he got up without word and walked away, leaving behind nothing but anger wrapped in care. She glares at the basket in front of her, pushing it away with too much force. Her skin buzzed from his touch although her mind was racing. Her hand comes to swipe at a stray tear when Neytiri enters the alcove.
"You made each other upset again..." Neytiri says tentatively.
She lowers herself behind Rina, pulling the younger against her chest.
"When do we not?" Rina scoffs.
Neytiri exhales calmly, wrapping her arms around Rina.
