Girl was having a slow meltdown for a while before that and her need to get away from the job and it’s stresses and NOT JUST HIM was clearly written well in advance.

​She was straight up having an identity crisis in a way she’d never had to before and dealing with anxiety related to traumas of the job she never planned to be doing. And so many fanfic writers boil it down to this misguided notion that it was just about running away from Booth and the way he loved her and her fears related to that.
