         louis’ words strike leon deep in his soul. it was meant to be a fleeting comment, he knows, but it means so much more to him. because truthfully, he is a bit ashamed of how he feels for leith. he is afraid to move forward. he’s heard all the talks of the noblemen who prefer men to their wives & how others perceive them. the whole ordeal of these feelings is foreign to him & he’s not certain he wants to get into that kind of MESS anyway. 

         the thoughts only linger for a moment longer, until louis clasps his shoulder. with a small nod, he looks to his brother.  “ you’re right. we should go out & get to work. ”

                         his  hand  LINGERS.        he  knows  what  leon  is  thinking.      it  has  little  to  do  with  them  being  BROTHERS  &&  more  to  do  with  him  recognizing  the  emotion  written  across  dark  hues  of  chestnut.            he  purses  his  lips  &&  clears  his  throat  just  slightly.        ❛     leon  do  you  recall  the  boy  from  italy  ?       fiore.        i    he  was  a  noble  from  that  rich  family  antoine  had  stay  with  us  when  we  were  younger.       ❜               he  pauses  &&  glances  towards  the  window.           ❛       he  was  one  of  the  first  people  to  break  my  heart.            what  i  did  with  him  is  between  god  &&  myself  but---          ❜          there’s  a  small  pause,         a  smile  curling  his  lips.          he  was  FAR  too  comfortable  with  his  own  sexuality  to  flinch  from  this  sort  of  talk.        even  a  subject  so  taboo.         ❛     i  will  NEVER  question  whom  you  take  to  bed.           just  be  careful  where  your  heart  lies.        while  mine  was  broken,    i  have  more  than  enough  reason  to  believe  antoine  was  the  downfall  to  my  affair  ----  so  just  keep  yourself  guarded.      our  brother  may  not  be  as  ACCEPTING  as  i  am.    ❜

            an exasperated sigh leaves leon’s lips as he paces his way back across the room. he doesn’t move far, just to the foot of louis’ bed to lean against the post.  “ yes — i will talk to LEITH. but only if it is absolutely necessary. the less people involved with our schemes, the better. ”

                           he  watches  his  reaction,         head  tilting  just  slightly  as  his  dark  gaze  shifts  back  out  of  the  window,          eyeing  the  passing  set  of  guards,           leith  among  them.         ❛       you  don’t  have  to  be  ashamed  to  enjoy  his  company,        brother.       ❜                it’s  a  passing  comment  as  he  moves  across  the  room,        clasping  leon’s  shoulder  before  nodding  towards  the  door.         ❛      come.      we’re  not  making  any  progress  by  merely  speaking  here.   ❜

         the mention of stéphane narcisse makes leon’s skin crawl. the man is despicable. there isn’t an honorable bone in his body, as far as the prince is concerned. the lord got by on flattery & blackmail. why king francis would let him so near is completely lost to leon.  “ perhaps we should, ”  the twin agrees as he returns to the window where his brother stands.  “ narcisse is a RAT. it certainly wouldn’t hurt to keep an eye on him. ”
