If there’s one thing I learned since I signed up on 12/18/2017 2:43:51 PM, it’s that #1920s kakyoin takes up too much of my time.

It was quiet and dark in this lonely bar. Empty, the only things heard were the occasional sound of glasses clinking, a light flickering, and a nice, melodius acoustic guitar being strummed into a song that never seemed to end. Just to note, the song never got old or boring, every other measure containing a new, exciting chord.

Playing that beautiful sound was a woman, wearing what seems to be a full suit, fedora included. The man at the bar counter seemed as if he didnt mind, if not enjoyed, the woman’s prescence there at the age-old bar.

All that shone upon her was a dim spotlight, little pieces of dust floating about.

Who would want to visit such a dull place?

Kakyoin strolled along the empty sidewalk when he noticed this bar. He looked into the window, not thinking much of it.

“Hey, well I’ve got nothing else to do.” He muttered to himself, taking a hand out of his pocket to open the doors. Mere silence filled the air as he walked in, observing the surroundings. Kakyoin quickly noticed an untouched, fully set up chessboard; he walked over to sit down and entertain himself.

“Neat that you play guitar,” Nori mumbled as he moved a pawn.

“ Huh?” She looked up from the fretboard. “ Oh, it’s you. You depressed, too?” Of course she would ask that. Ruebi was always like that. She never bothered to care for other’s opinions. The music stopped. It was silent again. Nothing but thier dry conversation.

“Well, I’m not sure I could say that,” Noriaki chuckled. “Just didn’t feel like wandering around town, yknow?”

Hierophant was his so-called ‘chess partner’ who somehow almost always wins against Kakyoin. While HG was calculating his next move, Kakyoin turned towards the gal.

“So, do you know any songs or are you just fiddling around?”

“ Why would a songwriter care to learn other’s songs? Its dumb. But yeah, I know some. What, got a request or somethin’?”

She looked at the pegs, and began tuning the guitar by ear, in case the song he wanted to hear had to have perfect tone.

“Oh, no. I rarely listen to music, let alone remember the names of ‘em.” He looks back at the chessboard, moving a piece without fully thinking it through.

“It’d be nice if you could play a tune to fill this silence, though.” Nori tried to move stray hairs out of his face, but they ultimately just fell back. A quiet ‘kekeke’ could be heard from HG while playing his turn.

Ruebi heard that, but did not regard it as something to point out. “Aight.” That was all she said before fiddling with the guitar once more. She was playing some sort of blue or bluegrass song.

Kakyoin stared at the chessboard more intensely, noticing the easily avoided move he made moments ago. He let out an annoyed sigh as he glanced up to see HG’s smug eyes.

He seemed to be having such fun with his ‘friend’. The entity was quite competitive in a cute way. Ruebi wasn’t into cute.

“ 'Kay.” She played for a while longer, until she began, ever so softly,

“Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Black and orange stray cat sittin’ on a fence

I ain’t got enough dough to pay the rent

I’m flat broke but I don’t care

“Your singing is swell.” Kakyoin noted as he took hold of the knight. His other hand was resting on his cheek.

“I’m disappointed not many people are here to enjoy it.”
