some people are like “eddie wouldn’t be this nice guy everyone wants him to be he’d be mean and tough and cold and everyone’s scared of him” but imma stop you rIGHT THERE. let me have soft boy eddie let me have goofball sweetie pie eddie just let me!!!! let me believe in his softness!!!!! he’s not a meanie he’s just a cinnamon roll with a bit of an attitude!!!!!! let me wrap him in a blanket and make him soup OKAY!!!!!!!!
Also he’s literally a soft goofball?? I could launch into an hour long TED talk doing a full character analysis alongside a media literacy seminar but instead I’ll settle for saying this: if anyone thinks Eddie is mean they’re objectively wrong
Yeah. It's also classism. Poor people are dangerous. Drug dealers are dangerous. People that live outside of what is accepted are dangerous. Eddie was literally being hunted down by the nice and clean better class for a crime he didn't commit, and some people think he was the bully? Oof.
All of the above. He's not behaving worse or more mean than say, Max and Eleven did with the Boys in S3 or Mike who's constantly yelling at his mother, or Dustin and Steve riffing off each other or Lucas in S1 who was a real fucking ass to Eleven, but because Eddie is the trailer park metalhead dealer who's been through a hard childhood, he isn't allowed any edge or flaws without it making him mean and cold and dangerous.
People who go through shit and trauma are kind soft fucking souls all the time. (And they have been in the 80s too.)
