cons of having a touch sensitive dog: almost everything
pros of having a touch sensitive dog: she removes every burr and foxtail herself
Oh we're squelching on our walk this morning
baby is the STAR!! look at his little legs!! look at his focus around barking dogs & another dog in the other lane!! wow!!!
Edi learned a cuss
brick gets along well with other dogs but she's the absolute worst because she has RULES that she made up for play and she doesn't understand that other dogs can't read her mind.
she will be engaged in perfectly respectful mutual play: bows, check ins, sneezes after growls, self-handicaps, pauses and healthy role reversals.
but that is not enough because brick has RULES. when the role is reversed so that she's the one getting chased, she will jump onto a higher object, (small platform, rock, bench) or hide under something like a bench or a log. that is her fort where nothing is allowed to touch her and she thinks the other dog should go away so she can launch a surprise attack.
but most dogs don't realize they're supposed to give up so naturally they approach her and try to play there. so she yells at them. she refuses to engage. that is NOT her rules! 😠 you are not playing by her rules! PLAY OVER. 😤 and the other dogs can't know that it's her magic fort, and that she actually wants to keep playing with them after a 15 second pause, because she gets disappointed when they completely disengage with her after she has yelled at them for a full minute and they no longer want to play when she tries to initiate chase again.
her bestie plays by her rules very strictly and there are never ever any larger lulls or displacement signals being displayed
it's literally like a child going "i have an invincibility shield!" and when her playmate goes "i have a sword that can pierce through anything!" or "no you dont! that's not fair!" she throws a tantrum
More photos from today
me every single time brick plays with a respectful dog her size or smaller than she initiated play with and shes now yelling at for being unable to read her mind
"dogs get tick borne illness because they dont have a strong immune system to fight it off due to inflammatory food and pesticides" is an insane thing to say and apparently more and more and more common aughhhhhhhhhhh 🙃
