Before this episode, if you asked me to describe a good partner for Eda, I don't know what I would have said. But it wouldn't have been soft.
Raine Whispers is so soft. Blushy, easily embarrassed, anxious in front of crowds. They're soft, but that's not the same as weak. They have crooked smiles and wide eyes for days, but they also have this deep sense of principle. Raine rebels in their own way and does it well, and they're not afraid to talk back to their fellow coven heads or stand up to the emperor. They have the same inner strength as Eda; it just manifests in a different way.
And I'd never realized this, but... Eda could use soft. She's so fierce and chaotic herself, and Raine counters that so well. Raine can keep Eda grounded without holding her back. Raine is flowers and music in contrast to Eda's sharpness and cynicism. Eda needs that quiet kindness.
Eda is also so guarded and protective. She'll joke to hide how she really feels, especially if it's something that really matters to her. Someone perceptive like Raine can see right through this- and then sit patiently and drop a comment or two to make Eda let down her guard. Raine can tear down those walls slowly and gently. A more aggressive personality might not be able to get Eda to let them in as much. But Raine can.
so tl;dr I am very emotional about Eda being treated softly and gently with the care she deserves and Eda spending years pining for this soft, blushy musician.
