Another bad use of formula is that Mira and Zoey turn on Rumi seemingly just because she hid her condition, which is a bullshit way of getting us to the emotional lowpoint of the climax. Rumi has been their friend for years! Pointing a weapon at her only validates her fears about the secret being revealed in the first place, and it cheapens their reconciliation later because Rumi is the one who initiates it and saves the other two when she's entirely blameless. Yeah, she was acting a bit overbearing before and she did things behind their back, but again, by guilting her about it they are validating those bad reactions in the first place.

It's also a waste of Mira and Zoey's characters as well. Instead of a tired Liar's Revealed plot, have Mira be angry at Rumi for something that actually takes her back to her bad relationship with her family. It doesn't have to be a particularly fair reason, just one that clearly stings enough, in fact, it would be better if it was slightly unfair and personal because then you could give Zoey a complete character arc of her own as well. Zoey is clearly affected by her parents' divorce, that's why she people pleases so hard, so have her freeze in this conflict between her two friends who puts her in a similar situation and then have her gather the courage to confront Mira and say, hey, I get why you're pissed and all, but Rumi's our friend and deserves our support right now in spite of your feelings. That way when they all sing together at the end it really is a culmination of all 3 of them overcoming their issues and becoming a family again.

And while we're talking about wasting secondary characters, I think the other Saja Boys should've had personalities of their own as well. I get that Rumi and Jinwu are the main course, but since these are apparently other demons that Jinwu recruited to his cause giving them a bare minimum of character interactions with him would help the movie structurally. They don't need to have deep personalities, or individual character arcs, or serious romances with the other girls, just show me what they think about the plan, or about their leader's weakening resolve, don't just have them stand there being pretty for the joke, it's not funny enough.

okay but imagine a sequel for Kpop Demon Hunters where because Rumi has Jinu’s soul, she can feel his suffering from the underworld. because Jinu is def alive since his pets were there at the end.

So now they’re tasked with returning his soul because Rumi can’t stand to feel his suffering and seeing him in pain in her dreams. She’s able to give him his soul back because with the Honmoon, her soul is now complete on her own since her half-demon genes got tamed and she has a full human soul or some sorta mythology explanation.

With that they get Jinu back, but it’s not as simple as that, and now the demon hunters are back in business and having to fight again harder than ever. BUT THIS TIME, Jinu joins the Demon Hunters because he provides unique insider intellect that no one else can provide. Through this, we also get to see silly moments of him getting used to modern life because he’s from like way back when ancient times.

By the end, Jinu is no longer demon and goes back to being regular human once the underworld is defeated and fully cut ties from him. We get a post-credits scene of him not being fully used to not having any mythical powers, and him being like “Rumi what do you mean boil the hot water for the ramyeon with the kettle. i haven’t had to use tools to boil hot water in centuries, i usually just snapped my fingers and ah nevermind— where is the fire wood? what??? what do you mean *electric* kettle????”

I just hope the people who animated these scenes get all the recognition they deserve cuz these expressions? The resignation and devastation you see in those eyes? It physically hurt to watch the characters go through all this
