Why are people still in the year of our lord 2026, acting like a six foot wide exhaust vent on a battle station is some kind of major flaw that the designers should have noticed and fixed? And not just a normal side effect of all that machinery needing somewhere to vent heat and exhaust? Like it's a plot hole? Newsflash, if you shoot thermonuclear missiles into the exhaust pipe of a car it will also explode. Most cars' exhaust pipes are not shielded against this, because they don't expect you to shoot thermonuclear missiles into them

Okya well do you think it might be possible that space anti-spaceship missiles in the magic space wizard sci-fi space franchise might be equipped with some sort of guidance system that allows it to detect bends in its path and follow them, something that rocks famously lack? Possibly some sort of heat-seeking system designed to locate and detonate at the location with the highest energy output, since that's where it would do the most damage to a larger vessel? yes. freedom of the press means the freedom of the owners of the press to manufacture ideology that aligns with their worldview. the capitalist class still materially exists post revolution and, if it's available, they will try to use control of the media to create consent for a restoration of capitalist rule

before we give a "freedom" we have to ask whose freedom, to do what, and in whose interests? clearly allowing individuals to freely own newspaper businesses isn't in the interests of the overwhelming majority, who would suffer under any restoration of capitalist rule. equally, allowing the mass dissemination of pro capitalist ideology is against the interests of the masses whoever actually owns the media. so yes, the worldview of the NYT should be barred from print

freedom of the press works as an ideal in a capitalist country, most of the time, because the overwhelming majority of the media will be produced by the ruling capitalist class, which controls the economy. in that way the press manages to do much more than report information, but instead helps to protect capitalist rule by spreading and reinforcing a pro capitalist worldview while sidelining dissenting views

under the transition to socialism, however, the proletariat uses its position of power to suppress its material and ideological enemies while it builds socialism. how much suppression is necessary or wise at any time is is a question for ruling parties, and ofc can be debated, but the US 1st Amendment, which allows capitalist apologists to publish whatever they want, would be a gift to the capitalist class. this is especially true immediately post revolution, where the whole population has grown up under the indoctrination of the capitalist class and still holds many of its views as their own

in fighting for and building socialism, we can never forget that we're in a class war — a war for material power waged by different groups, based on their common interests. every policy has a class character, in that it aligns with the interests of one class over another. giving our enemies the freedom to spread propaganda in favour of the capitalist exploiters regaining power would be a betrayal of our responsibility to our own class

On the morning of April 7, 2026, a fire was started at the Kimberly-Clark Distribution Center in Ontario, California. It escalated to a six-alarm fire and took nearly twelve hours to extinguish. The facility was completely destroyed and declared a "total loss". There were no injuries or deaths. An employee who was working in the warehouse is accused of arson.

Authorities stated that the employee had shared videos of himself starting the fire on Facebook, saying "all you had to do was pay us enough to live" and "there goes your inventory" while lighting pallets of toilet paper ablaze.

ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS PAY US ENOUGH TO LIVE

No injuries. No deaths. This was a protest fire. This is why unions are important, to prevent frustrations like these, to ensure people are paid enough to live.
