Did anyone else get disappointed they didn’t play more hockey in heated rivalry?

I started watching the show without any knowledge, and was sad they barely showed them playing hockey. I thought it would be exciting to show them doing cool hockey stuff, but instead all they did was show like 3 seconds of a match and then cut to the aftermath.

I’m a huge hockey fan and was saddened, I feel like they could have added more hockey scenes. This could be a budget issue as well I haven’t read the book, but it feels like an under-explored aspect of the story.

I’ve seen some people critique the early 90s/2000s approach to teaching about racism. A focus on individual stories of prejudice, a kinda ‘we shouldn’t judge others, let’s celebrate diversity’ attitude to racial inequality.

I do think though that despite the many weaknesses of this framing it still is a good way to prime children for more nuanced learning later in life.

‘Incompetent woman’ is a classic trope, in ‘I love Lucy’ Lucy is the schemer with less talent.

I also think of the King of the hill episode where Peggy substitutes for Spanish class even though she can barely understand it.

Don’t disagree with the first half of this post but incompetent wife is a very common sitcom trope and is usually not controversial.

All these tourists having a great time at the World Cup isn't surprising b/c the first rule of America is that this place rules if you have money to blow and it's a nightmare if you don't. The prohibitively high cost of attending the World Cup filtered out all the ppl who don't have money so all the people who actually made it to the U.S. are basically guaranteed to have fun

Travel itself filters out most people who don’t have money and if you have money going to other countries will generally be a good time.

me as a teenager: man it sucks to have no privacy or autonomy but i guess its for a good reason. when i turn 18 i will realise how young i was and understand why they did all that.

me as an adult: teenagers are an oppressed class, their abuse is normalised and systemic and they need to start killing people
