A Fallen Harvest

Just as the trees begin to drop their withered leaves, so do the beasts of the forest drop their tails in a curious ritual that forewarns the dark winter ahead. Symbols of perseverance and everlasting life, young women travel out into the forests at dawn to harvest the tails for their towns’ season cornucopia and centerpieces. Freshly-plucked, wet and writhing, these bouquets promise plentiful food stores for the cold months to come.
