The voice startled Alice, she hadn’t expected an answer. She hadn’t realized anyone was on the beach, especially at this time of night. For a moment she half wondered what he was doing out here, then again did she really have a good reason for being here as well. Her head tilted ever so slightly as she considered his question, making no effort to move from her current position. “I believe I am, I myself once transcended time and space.” That was one way to describe her trip to Wonderland. “Have you ever listened to their stories?”

Adam could tell his voice startled her and he hadn’t meant to do such a thing he was merely trying to pass the time. He found himself looking up towards the sky taking in everything surrounding them thinking on her words chuckling softly “Have you really? not many can make that statement really paint me interested.” He mused before nodding his head as he took a seat next to her. “My mother used to tell me the stories before I’d fall asleep, sometimes there were things I thought could never be possibly but they were the stories I always kept close to my heart when she passed away.” He mused softly before looking at her “You wouldn’t want to hear one would you?”

Perdita nodded. “I’m sorry about your father,” she said. She didn’t know how long ago it had been, but it was still sad. “What does your company do?” She smiled brightly. “Thank you!” she said. “Oh yes, isn’t that lovely? France is so elegant.”

Adam looked at the other nodding his head “Thank you for such words” He mused so used to people offering their condolences towards his father. He smiled softly “Well we do a couple different things, but our biggest market is that fashion, we’ve created this sort of think tank of people who create and design pieces to add to the Baudelaire Collection.” He mused nodding his head “Its very elegant.”

The night was rather quiet, the waves upon the sand a comforting sort of lullaby. Alice laid in the sand, staring up into the night sky as if the stars would whisper their secrets to her. The young girl was not eager to go back to her not quite home. So she went for a walk, no particular destination in mind, just aimless wandering. Somehow she ended up sprawled out on the beach, a mess of limbs and wild blonde hair. “Starlight, star bright, first star I see tonight.” She said aloud to herself. “I wonder, oh great stars, would you tell me a story if you could.” The blonde mused.

Adam found himself wondering yet again he couldn’t sleep plagued by nightmares that seemed to be eating away at him. No one knew about these flashes of the beast that seemed to live within his mind but it was still enough to give him pause. He didn’t know why he found himself on the beach only that he wasn’t alone as he listened to the other speak soft. Words that brought a memory of his mother to front of his mind making him smile “You sure you could handle such stories? they are said to transcend time and space.” He mused still standing near the other.

Mira shook her head, her blood heating up with anger that she couldn’t control. “No, no, no. Your mother didn’t abandon you. She didn’t choose to leave you. She did not look at your face and decide that she didn’t want you anymore. There’s a difference.” She said, her face flushing red. If there was one thing she hated, it was ignorance.

Adam looked at the women he saw her getting angrier by the moment before opening  his mouth. “You done with your little rant? I take I know what happened in your life.” He replied before shaking his head “abandonment takes on many forms, sometimes its not a choice someone can make for themselves, maybe by not keeping you, you lived instead of dying at the age of 2. My mother left me in the hands of her husband weather willing or not she condemned me to rot with that monster.”

“Do you own your own company?” she asked, with a little bit of interest. She’d never had to work a day in her life and owned the gallery now in part for something to do, and also because she loved art. “I’m just on a coffee break,” she said. “It’s up the street from my gallery.”

“Yes I do, I took over officially when my father passed away but I’ve always been working there.” He replied looking at her before moving to grab his cup of coffee to sip it before smirking “I've passed by the gallery, You’ve got some great pieces especially the one from France, it reminds me of home.”

“She seems like a Rose to me with her perfect pink nose and white and black fur.” Adam admitted smiling it had been something his mother had loved Roses and he couldn’t help but think of her as the kitten relaxed in his hold. “I think so too, and I don’t mind getting them something to eat, they probably need it.” He mused looking down at Rose “Think I could leave her here while I grab some things from the shop? outside of putting her in my pocket it would free up some hands”

Perdita raised an eyebrow as he actually looked at her. She wasn’t sure if the man was actually checking her out or not, but she knew that, as far as humans went, many people considered her beautiful. Something she certainly enjoyed. “You’re welcome,” she said. “What are you working on?”

Adam looked at the other tilting his head to the side before looking up from his newly acquired folder to look at her. “Work for my company, one of my ex employee’s though I would be too stupid to notice him stealing funds.” He mused typing up a email. ‘What brings you to this little corner coffee shop? outside of returning property.” He mused.

With a croissant balanced in one hand and a mug of coffee in the other, Fauna edges her way through the café as carefully as she can, heading in the direction of the man in the back that everyone else seems too scared to approach. Really, how bad can he be? If she was deterred by every stern face she came across, she’d hardly get to talk to anyone!

“I admire your confidence, dear,” she replies cheerfully, struggling to hitch her heavy tote bag higher on her shoulder without dropping everything else. “Would you mind terribly if I sat here? I hate to bother you, but there isn’t anywhere else…”

Adam looked up from his laptop smirking slightly at the reply the other had for him. “No one calls me dear expect for Mrs. Potts, and you are definitely not her” He replied allowing a rare smile to grace his lips as he took in her bag before quickly moving a clear space for her to sit down. “Normal I’d say no but you seemed to have quite the heavy load, if you don’t mind the typing of my laptop as I work I don’t mind.” He mused honestly quickly shoot off a text to the old women it had been awhile since he’d checked in and she could curse at him just like a mother it was always easier to avoid her ire.
