Finding Heaven
This idea was inspired by @zonose recent post regarding Jax being a gremlin in a fur suit all to find the others. So please go show their page some love. This is also an Aftershow Au with a few liberties when it comes to character design. So please also show @chubs-deuce and @munchiemooz some love as well!
I wrote this instead of falling asleep, so I apologise for any spelling and grammar mistakes. I will do my best to fix them!
The circus was in pandemonium, shuddering so much that the gloinks crawled out of odd areas in panic, running like rats in a flooding subway. Caine floated high above them in a tpose while glitching in and out of existence. Threw the floorboards, what could only be described as the screams of the damned echoed and somehow hit Jax's sensitive ears even louder than he ever thought possible. He didn't have a clue where any Zooble, Gangle, Ragatha, or Kinger were… but Pomni stood across from him. A panicked look covered her face where anger and frustration once stood. A growl slipped past Jax's lips before he could even think to stop it from coming out. How dramatic of Caine… of the Circus in its entirety to fall apart around him… While he tore apart the only connection in this damned hell hole that he gave two shits about. Taking a deep breath to steady himself, he looked into Pomni's eyes again. Eyes filled with fear and pain, this was no time to try and tear emotional bonds apart. If they're just going to die in a few moments anyway, what's the fucking sense in that? Jax took Pomin's small gloved hands in his own… and damn are they small. Her fingers came to just barely graze his third knuckle. Her palm sat in his as if it was meant to, as he tugged her close and set his other hand in her hair.
“Don’t watch Pom pom…” He grunted while squeezing her tighter to his chest, turning her head so one ear rested against his chest. The other covered with his hand just in time to muffle the sound of Caine's body tumbling to the ground and shattering into shards of digital glass. Pomni still flinched, of course, as the sound shattered the room louder than the gunshots that filled the halls just under an hour before.
“W…what was that?” Pomni asked after a moment, trying desperately to look only for Jax to hold her head still. He shook his head and let out a hollow laugh.
“You need to trust me here, Pomni, you don’t want to know… Just… Just close your eyes and let's imagine we finally got that beach adventure that you suggested.” Jax murmured, eyes burning with unshed tears as he lowered them to the floor. “It's a shame, honestly. I was planning on burying Zooble in a mountain of sand… I bet they wouldn’t be able to get out on their own.” Jax couldn't help but chuckle at the image, and Pomni peered up at him and rolled her eyes, taking a shaky breath before responding.
“Cained probably have to snap them out of the sand… and Zooble would probably be complaining about sand in their parts for weeks.”
“Nice guess, Pompster… but try months. I was totally planning on sneaking a pale of sand into the circus and pouring it into the Zooble box.” He chuckled as the tears finally slipped from his eyes, as Pomni's adorable giggle filled the room. Caine, damn it, please… please just end this all now. If he has to die, Jax just wants the sound of Pomnis' laughter to be the last thing he hears.
=====================BEEP=====BEEP====BEEP===========
Felix’s body shot up as the sound of his alarm shattered the last echoes of Pomnis bell-tuned laughter. After a few minutes of sitting in bed just contemplating whether or not he's ready to get up off his bed and face the day. Felix ultimately groaned again and stood u,p opening the hotel's closet door. Inside the closet sat the 1,000 dollar fur suit, a near-perfect replica of his circus persona. Felix let out a hollow chuckle as he took the costume out of the closet, setting the pieces down on the lumpy bed. After pulling on a pair of deep purple basketball shorts and a wife-beater, Felix went through the process of reassembling the fursuit. Though smaller in size and sheer body mass than other fur suits, most wear. Felix still tended to sweat like a bitch, so he installed a fan to blow fresh cool air in through small slits in the suit covered by the fur. Now properly into his circus persona, he finally hazarded a glance at the mirror on the other side of the room.
“You have truly dropped to a new lows, Felix… going to Conventions.” He murmured, shuddering at the final words as he finished grabbing his phone, wallet, badge hanging around his neck, and bag of pranks hanging over his shoulder. While locking up the hotel room, Felix went over the list of live streams planned around the con over and over again. Each live had to do with different fandoms spanning from theater and video games. To paranormal junkie shows, as for whatever reason, there are a few of those set up around the building. As much as he hated this… Felix hated seeing himself, his human self, in the mirror and not knowing if the others made it out more.
Hated the memory of closing his eyes with Pomnis' small warm body pressed against his own, the two of them trembling and promising one another that they would make it out. Then the next opening, his eyes to the stark white hospital room alone, covered with IVs and a man in a business suit forcing him to sign a document and transferring more money than the shocked man in the bed knew what to do with into his banking account. With a sigh, Felix looked down at the convention floor, fingering his bag while planning his course of attack. The first stream will start in about 20 minutes in the artist alley. Any pranks that could ruin the merchandise were out. Even if he has enough money to buy the convention itself out of merchandise. He didn't exactly want to buy some nobody weirdos' art. Maybe just standing in an odd corner and making weird poses throughout the stream would be enough. Felix thought before somebody crashed into him.
“Fuck,” Felix groaned softly as he fought to regain his balance, nearly gaining it before a familiar mousy voice that could only come from Gangle sounded from in front of him.
