The rain wasn't pouring as harsh as it was anymore, small droplets of water hitting the bricked road less often now. Under the shed that prevents students from becoming wet stood two figures studying the solemn pitter-patter of the rain, the weather a great time to soothe one's self and relax.
"Jinnie," She started, blinking at the droplets of rain in front of her.
With a small raise of his left brow, Hwang Hyunjin side-eyed her before slowly turning to face her.
"The rain has stopped now." She smiled at him, her crinkling as she stares at her best friend. "Maybe we should get going!"
There and then, the boy understood that he will never fancy anyone as he did her, his chest hurting and his stomaches churning knowing that he will never get to have her.
Because in her eyes, she only sees his other friend, Han Jisung.
Han Jisung, who was always clumsy.
Han Jisung who was a coward and need to be behind Chan Hyung in a fight.
Han Jisung, who never fails to make her laugh with his lame jokes.
And most definitely, Han Jisung. The one who mesmerizes her just for being his self.
Hyunjin's lips lifted upwards to form a smile, albeit it didn't reach his eyes, hating that fact that his best friend could have that one person he yearns the most, and hating his self for feeling envious of his best friend.
She nodded at him enthusiastically, opening her umbrella before towering it over their heads, the ends of the object poking Hyunjin's head in the process.
"I'm sorry!" Her eyes widened. Hear hands immediately flying towards his head to probably give him a massage when all of a sudden, the male stepped back, his eyes equally as large as hers in panic.
Her umbrella dropped while her hands remained in mid-air, too flabbergasted to react. She couldn't pinpoint where the disappointment that's bubbling inside her stems from, maybe by the fact that Hyunjin acted as if he never wanted to be touched by her.
Embarrassedly, she let out a small chuckle.
"What's wrong with you?" She asked, trying to sound nonchalant when in fact she was dying to know why he wasn't acting differently right now.
"Ah," Hyunjin looked away, rubbing his nape while his attention focused on the surroundings outside the remnants of the Waiting Shed they're currently under.
The thing is, he knows he wouldn't be able to handle it if she steps closer to him than she already was earlier.
Hyunjin knows how dramatic he is, so he wouldn't risk any chance to embarrass his self even more. "You just surprised me." He mumbled.
Then, an idea came. "You're acting like you're ninja self again!" He laughed dramatically at her, knowing fully well her attention will be diverted to his teasing instead to the awkward happening just a few minutes ago.
"What?!" She fumed. She hated being called a ninja ever since she was a little and Hwang freaking Hyunjin knows how to use it against her every single time.
She was great at climbing trees and stuffs when she was little this the name. But, she likes to think of her self as a princess.
Well, he was a prince ever since young but he doesn't want her to be the princess. Instead, she became the prince's ninja/bodyguard who will save him everytime he's in trouble.
She could be anything for him, if that means that she will get to near him.
"I'm not letting you under my umbrella! Go home soaking!" She grumbled before picking up her umbrella on the ground then started walking away from the shed, her nostrils flaring in anger.
Still laughing, Hyunjin ended up wiping his fake tears a few moments when she was walking away from him. Instantly, his face fell as he watched her walk away from him.
He blinked, before looking at her longingly.
