Maybe if I just work harder, this empty cup will pour again
Maybe the cup needs a bit of time to rest and refill?
Maybe the cup needs to lock the fuck in???
fun behaviors to give dragons that aren't feline/canine based
cause as much as i love dragons purring and roaring i wish there was just more variety in how they would act
clacking their teeth together to show contentedness/happiness (budgies)
using tails as a defensive weapon in a whip like fashion (iguana)
twitching to express that they're not a threat to members of their species (hognose snake)
feeling calm when eyes are hooded/covered (birds of prey)
head bobbing as a threat display (anoles/bearded dragons)
flattening neck or sides to appear bigger (snakes/lizards)
mantling over food to protect it from hatchmates (birds of prey)
wiggling neck as a courting maneuver (budgies)
audibly grinding teeth as a warning (macaques)
maintained eye contact as a challenge (gorillas)
pounding wings against sides as a threat (gorillas)
slapping other dragons with their claws when their personal bubble is invaded (seals)
hoards used as a site to impress mates (birds of paradise)
snorting when undergoing heightened stress (horses)
making repeated loud noises with surroundings to establish territory (woodpeckers)
loud constant arguments with other dragons when roosting (bats)
building lairs that cause a domino effect of change in the land around them (beavers)
slapping their tails against the ground/water as a warning (beavers)
wiggling tail tip to attract prey (various animals)
wiggling tail tip as a warning (snakes)
plucking or scraping off scales as a sign of stress (parrots)
raising spines/frills as a response to danger and carrying on with their usual business as they believe they're protected (lionfish)
and im not saying canine and feline behaviors are wrong or bad to give a dragon (people wouldn't write dragons with those behaviors if they weren't fun in the first place!) but i feel for creatures that are mythological giant winged lizards that you can do more and get experimental with it. often the more unfamiliar behavior the more dragony the dragon feels

Cladonia evansii
Powder-puff lichen, deer moss
Love a lichen that looks like a little critter! And C. evansii might be the citteriest lichen I have ever seen! Like a little sponge or coral or really spikey alien egg! This incredible fruticose lichen has whitish-gray to pale green podetia that grow in densely-branching puffs or mats up to 6 cm tall. It grows on sand and detritus in dry to mesic woodlands of the North American southeastern costal plains and the Caribbean. I want to cup one gently in my hands and give it gentle kiss on its lil spikey top.

I need a splash of color from Africa again (September 2025). So here are a few pictures of the wonderful lilac-breasted roller. It's the national bird of Kenya and Botswana.
being on the internet for more than three minutes
An artist tip ✨
love starting an art challenge and then being hit by multiple consecutive 40+ hour work weeks. anyway, this was supposed to be for week 2 of funguary: fairytale, it was meant to combine the idea of a fairy circle with an actual doorway of some kind and also to get more practice with my new paints.
super disappointed i didn't get to do funguary properly, but i already like drawing mushrooms a lot normally anyway, so there'll be more eventually!
funguary week 1: decay
i'm a bit late with this, starting this account at the same time as a new job was unfortunate timing. nevertheless we persist
i got these gouache paints as a christmas gift and still haven't quite figured them out, setting the bar nice and low for for the first piece of art i ever post here. it was fun though :]
man, when i was watching that scene in iron lung where simon's digging through the supplies that were packed in there with him and he came across the lifejacket, it was almost funny. like, this guy is buried in a tin can beneath the pressure of thousands of feet of blood, being stalked by a massive alien fish, and is suffering from radiation poisoning, C02 poisoning, a concussion, probably the bends, dehydration, and the literal wrath of god. both simon and the audience look at it like it's some sort of dark joke, that stupid undersized life jacket is not gonna save him.
and then in that final scene it makes another very important appearance. he inflates it, puts the blackbox in, and sacrifices himself to let it float to the surface. and i can't stop thinking about that scene where the blackbox is floating up there. it's practically wearing the life jacket. it just fits so snugly and perfectly. that life jacket was never meant to save a human.
Funguary 2026! The drawing challenge where we draw fungi during the month of February. This will be the last time I’m hosting this event, which is bittersweet… So join in on the fungi fun one last time, so we may end it with a bang✨ Event starts Feb 1st
In order to join, create one art piece centered around mushrooms per weekly theme. Drawing daily is a lot of pressure, so I thought we’d keep it chill this time by only doing one a week. This will give us more time to flesh out our character! Ive written down species suggestions, but please feel free to draw whichever shroom you fancy!
The only official rule is to honor fungi as your almighty deity. Oh, and to use tags #Funguary & #Funguary2026
Can’t wait to see everyone’s shroom creations! Will be stalking the tag and reblogging creations, as per usual❤️
an art challenge would be perfect to break in my new account, and also i love mushrooms.
(non-daily art challenges are the kindest thing i've ever done for myself honestly, it's way less pressure.)
not sure if i'll be doing this digitally or traditionally yet, but i'm excited to start working on it :]
new in town
so this account is gonna be an experiment. i'm not a big social media person, but i've heard many a tale of this Great Blue Hellsite and figured it was a good place to give being perceived a shot. the idea is to hopefully post some of my art here, even if on a wildly irregular schedule. come say hello if you dig my vibe lol
(also it might take me a sec to figure out how this place works, sorry in advance)
