probably the worst thing about liking the dsmp is that it was worth it

torn because I feel like pre-l'manberg is when tommy having nubby little devil horns is the most thematic. the scrappy little imp that's endearing anyhow. representative of Childhood and the mischievousness that comes with it.

but on the OTHER hand. I Do think about tommy wearing a band with soft little hand-sewn horns because he wants to match with Tubbo's own just barely poking through his messy hair

only for them to meet again with tommy's sharp and spindly and nothing like the horns that curve around tubbo's head

nobody gets it, nobodyy gets it. tommy presents with his hybrid traits with dream in exile because it's Symbolic. dream wants to be his home, his family, to bring tommy down to the level of an obedient child, to make tommy dependent on him. so tommy is born again, with his mind and body acting in ways that he doesn't understand and don't make sense to him. so what choice does he have but to cling to the one person he Has?

it's often depicted as bloody and violent and painful because that's exactly what it was, new sharp parts of himself bursting out from the inside and carving out new shapes out of what used to be soft unmarred flesh

he's vulnerable in a way he never was before, he's a wild frenzied animal with teeth and claws, he's a Child. undeniably a child when before he'd been a soldier

when that frightened little animal was inside of you all along and yet terrifying and new. you don't recognize yourself, this is what you always were and what you'll always be from now on. there's no going back
