You maneuvered through the sea of bodies to slip into the back door of your English class, a slow breath easing out of your chest as you settled into your seat. This was it, your last year of high school. While people were already boasting about the colleges they would be applying to or their grand gap year plans, you were just relieved to be done. The school work came easy enough, it wasn’t hard to study when you didn’t have anyone to be hanging out with. Your family moving to Hawkins your junior year pulled you from your old friends and pushed you into a situation where everyone had found their cliques the years prior, so you spent your time studying or walking through the woods of the small town with your walkman fastened to your hip.
The screech of chalk on the board pulled you from your thoughts and once you realized you hadn’t missed anything important, you scanned the room for who you would be seeing first period every day. Familiar faces seemed to surround you, until you looked straight across the room to someone sneaking in after the bell and into the softest brown eyes you had ever seen. You immediately dropped your head to hide your face, cheeks growing hot from catching the gaze of possibly the most beautiful person in existence. Sure, you had seen the fluffy-haired metalhead in the hallways or standing on the occasional table in the cafeteria, but this was different. He was looking back at you this time. Heart hammering against your ribcage, curiosity got the best of you as you flicked your eyes back in that direction, only to get caught again. This time, you waited long enough to gauge his reaction, and you could’ve passed out seeing the smirk that tugged at the corner of his mouth and two ringed fingers raising off the desk in greeting. Refusing to let your nerves win this time, you offered a small wave back before turning your attention to the teacher.
It became routine for you to start your day with English class, offering a small smile and wave across the room at the boy you quickly learned was named Eddie, and he returned the gesture in kind. The more comfortable you got, the more often your gaze danced over his features as he tried to pay attention to the lesson. You liked how his fingers drummed on the desk when he was bored, the sunlight sometimes catching the chunky silver pieces just right. You wondered how they would feel on your skin. His fluffy curls swayed whenever he would lean back in his chair to stretch, and it took all of your willpower to not notice how his tee would ride up and you could see the pale skin of his belly. He would wrinkle his nose at lines he didn’t like or found particularly complex, and you just wanted to plant the smallest kiss right on the tip of it. Studying for school was a chore, but you could study Eddie Munson all day. Somehow, your notetaking didn’t falter, though you were sure it would when you caught yourself doodling the Hellfire Club logo that was on his shirt.
Eddie thanked whatever merciful power sent him a reason to want to go to English class first period. Not that he was paying as much attention, but showing up everyday instead of skipping had to help keep him on the path to graduating for real this year, right? It was time he got it together and actually wrapped up his time at Hawkins High. Maybe the band could get more gigs if he and the guys had time to travel. He was just determined to be done this time around. What he thought was going to be the most painful part of his day immediately turned around when he caught the eye of the cutest girl he had ever seen on the first day of school.
It had been a few weeks of the little back and forth with Eddie. You would smile and silently greet each other every morning from across the room and steal glances when you thought the other wasn’t looking. Almost like a game, the two of you would try to take everything in about the other while still keeping a single thread of focus on the topic for the day. You were much more successful than Eddie when it came to this. The first pop quiz handed back stared up at him with an F. He frantically looked over to you and caught the A on the top of yours as you tucked it into your folder. If he needed a sign to approach you, this was it.
-
You had dropped your chemistry textbook into your locker and closed the door, only to find the shaggy haired beauty from your English class on the other side, causing you to yelp in surprise.
“Sorry to scare you, princess!” Eddie briefly looked mortified as his cheeks tinged pink, then he took a breath and offered his hand out. “I’m Eddie.”
“O-oh, it’s okay. Sorry to scare you back.” You shyly smiled at the nickname and gently fit your hand into his as you gave him your name. “It’s nice to officially meet you.” You didn’t realize you were still holding his hand as you got lost peering into his round eyes again.
“Yeah, you too.” Eddie gently squeezed your hand again before reluctantly letting go. Why was it so easy to flirt with you across the room, but now right in front of you, he felt even dumber than his grades showed? “Listen, I was wondering..” He chewed on his bottom lip for a moment and broke your gaze to study the blank outside of your locker. “Would you maybe want to study together sometime? You look like you have a way better handle on O’Donnell’s class than I do. And it would be cool to hang out, you know?”
You held your breath as he spoke. While you were a little disappointed he wasn’t asking you out, you were also relieved at not having to muster up the courage to go on a proper date. Hanging out sounded good.
“That sounds good. Yeah. I can help you out.” You nodded, desperately trying to keep your nerves at bay. “Hanging out would be cool, too.”
Eddie beamed at you, ecstatic at getting the chance to spend more time with you and hopefully getting his grades straightened out. “I have Hellfire tonight. How about tomorrow, my place? Just me and my uncle and he works nights, so it would be nice and quiet.”
“Sure, that sounds good.” You were staring at him again, lost in the lines around his smile that made him look extra endearing to you. The bell for next class brought your attention back. “I can meet you in the parking lot tomorrow after school.”
You couldn’t help yourself in dressing a little cuter the next day. You didn’t want to be obvious or anything, but a little more makeup and jeans with your favorite top gave you the confidence to go through your day and have you fighting to not skip your way to the parking lot after your last class.
“Hey, princess!” Eddie called to you from where he was leaning against his van, waving once he caught your eye.
He chewed at his bottom lip, watching as you approached. You seemed even more chipper than usual. Were you as excited as he was for this? He wasn’t sure about that, though the thought made his heart race a little. You looked extra good today, from your bright smile all the way down to your jeans that hugged your thighs so nicely. He quickly snapped himself out of those thoughts and made his way over to the passenger side to open the door for you, dramatically bowing and gesturing for you to take a seat. “My lady, your chariot to the land of studying awaits.”
You giggled as you thanked him and climbed into the van. The ride to his place went by smoothly as he told you all about the current campaign he was running with Hellfire. The way he animatedly spoke and gestured with his hands as he drove was so engaging, his passion pulling you in more by the second.
Eddie was thrilled to tell you everything about Dungeons and Dragons and the storyline he had crafted. No one ever asked him about the game, and he loved the way you were watching him as he spoke. You seemed genuinely interested in him, or at least what he was saying. He gradually quieted down as he pulled into the trailer park, suddenly nervous about what you would think about it.
“So, do you think they’ll be able to survive Vecna?” You seemed unphased at the surroundings as you collected your bag off the floor. “It sounds like you’re giving those kids a real run for their money.”
Eddie did a double take at you not casting a judgemental look toward the trailer. He rarely had anyone over, never mind a pretty girl who was smart and seemed to like talking to him. “We’ll have to see if their plan will work. It seems pretty risky, but I think they have a chance at pulling it off.” He hopped out of the driver’s side and dashed over to your door, making sure to open it with as much flourish as he did the first time before leading you to the front door. “It’s not much, but it’s home.” He mumbled as he ushered you into the living room. He fidgeted with his rings as he watched you take in your surroundings.
“I like the hat collection.” You warmly smiled at him, trying to calm the anxious expression on his face.
“Thanks. It’s a thing my uncle and I have been doing for years.” He shuffled his feet a little but perked up at your smile. “Wanna head to my room? I mean, to start studying.” His cheeks felt warm again as he gestured down the hall.
“Lead the way, kind sir.” You softly giggled as he was clearly caught off guard by your own nickname for him. Following him into the room at the back of the trailer, you were in awe of the space completely decked out in band posters, your eyes falling to a glossy black and red guitar hanging in the center of the wall. The air was warm and smelled of a heady combination of his cologne and the weed he was no doubt stashing somewhere. It suited him perfectly.
“She’s a beaut, huh?” Eddie gently touched his fingers to the instrument. He was relieved you weren’t seemingly off put by anything and possibly intrigued by his interests. He was not used to this.
“Can I hear you play sometime?” You turned to him, the hopeful expression on your face making his chest tighten.
“I’m not really sure you’ll be into the stuff I play, princess.” He chuckled and gestured to the various metal band memorabilia around the room, “But you can if you really want.”
“I would like that very much.” You were buzzing with excitement. The prospect of getting to see him outside of school again putting an additional pep in your step. School. Right. You were supposed to be helping him with English, too. “So, did you want to get started on the homework?”
-
You read passionately as you lay across the foot of Eddie’s bed on your belly, casually rolling a few dice in your palm.
“Your hand, your tongue: look like the innocent flower,
But be the serpent under't. He that's coming
Must be provided for: and you shall put
This night's great business into my dispatch;
Which shall to all our nights and days to come
Give solely sovereign sway and masterdom”
Eddie watched you in awe, his eyes constantly flickering back and forth between the curves of your legs and the motion of your fingers caressing his game pieces. “You sure make a convincing murderous lady.” He grins at you as you roll on your side to face him.
“I hope that doesn’t scare you away…” You took a risk and winked at him, taking great satisfaction in the surprised look on his face. Like in class, the two of you had taken to stealing glances while the other was busy reading, although this time you seemed to be catching each other constantly. You felt more comfortable the more you read back and forth.
To his credit, Eddie threw on a cheesy suave look and leaned toward you, plucking a d20 out of your hand. “Not at all, dearest partner of greatness.”
Your breath caught in your throat at the proximity, his weight shifting on the bed only moving you closer to him. So easily you reverted back to your favorite activity, studying Eddie Munson. His fluffy hair was tousled from rolling around the mattress as he dramatically read his lines, his big brown eyes looking even darker from the size of his pupils, he was an absolute sight to behold.
Eddie could feel his ears burning beneath his curls from the way you looked at him, almost like you were in awe. He was used to people looking at him, but more like a performer at a freakshow or an animal in a cage. You looked at him like he was a work of art. It made him excited and nervous all at once. Did you really want him? His gaze dropped to your lips then quickly returned to your eyes, silently asking for permission.
A fresh wave of confidence soared through you as the usually boisterous metalhead softened right before your eyes, a look of almost pleading on his face the closer you became. You wanted to close the distance so badly, ever since you saw him on the first day of class, but you also enjoyed the little games you played together. You wanted him to feel in his element. “Roll for it.”
“What?” Eddie leaned back slightly, a brief look of confusion across his pretty face before you toyed with the die in his hand.
“You heard me, Mister Dungeon Master. Roll. To. Kiss. Me.” You leaned forward and softly bumped his nose with yours.
Eddie groaned, your words going right to his heart and crotch. “Damn, princess. Almost as ruthless as Lady Macbeth.” He carefully pushed your closed books together, giving him a flat surface to work with. He rolled the die around in his hand, praying to a god he didn’t believe in as he watched you bite your lip and smile at him. He slowly exhaled and released the die, watching as it bounced atop the books, the hollow sound ringing in his ears along with his heartbeat.
The two of you held your breaths as the piece spun, trying so desperately to will a high number in your heads. Both wanting it so badly…
And he rolled a damn 10.
Eddie went wide-eyed, a panicked look twisting his features as he frantically looked back and forth between you and the d20 that betrayed him. “I- Can, can I reroll? Please?”
“No.” Your voice was level, almost casual as you leaned forward to inspect the low roll further. “However, I’ll consider it a partial success. You can kiss me anywhere except on the lips.” You smirked at him, goosebumps spreading across your body as you watched his breathing pick up.
Eddie was stunned. How was the cute, quiet girl that he borderline drooled over in class teasing him like this? He never wanted it to stop. “As you wish, my lady.” He gently cupped the back of your head and leaned in, his nose bumping yours again. The soft gasp that fell from your lips only spurred on his returned teasing as his fingers ghosted over your goosebumps. He ran the tip of his nose across your cheek, watching as your eyes fluttered closed. The hum you emitted as he pressed a chaste kiss to your cheekbone made the front of his jeans tighten. You made such pretty sounds, and he wasn’t anywhere near done hearing them.
The way he teased you was already setting you on fire, his gentle touches and the softness of his lips on your skin driving you crazy. You slid a hand up his arm and pushed your fingers through his fluffy curls, needing to touch him in some way. You pulled back slightly, only to look at him and see a reflection of just how needy you were. “Eddie…”
He moaned hearing you say his name and dipped his head down to start peppering your jaw and the side of your neck with more kisses. He slid his other arm beneath you and pulled you closer to him, cradling you in his arms. “Is this okay?”
“Yes, please.” You softly cooed into the crown of his head, inhaling the mouth-watering scent of his shampoo. You writhed under his touch, pressing your bodies closer together and tugging at the hair you still had in your grasp. The vibration of his next moan had you squeezing your thighs together. The tension lingering between you all evening and finally getting the touch you needed was everything.
Eddie kissed and licked down to your collarbone, trying to nudge his way under the neckline of your top. He released the gentle grip he had on the back of your neck and rested his hand on your hip, massaging your curves through your jeans as he slipped his thumb under your shirt to touch the soft skin of your belly. “You’re so pretty, princess.” The way your back arched beneath his touch gave him the confidence to slide his hand further up, gripping the flesh of your waist.
“You can see more of me if you want.” You gasped, feeling his teeth nipping at your shoulder. “Please, Eddie. Can I see you, too?” Releasing his curls, you gently tugged at the bottom of his shirt.
“Yes! Absolutely, yes.” Eddie was quick to sit up onto his knees and yank his shirt off over his head, tossing it somewhere across the room. He met your eyes briefly, momentarily speechless seeing how blown your pupils were, before he saw you hungrily take in his exposed torso.
You sat up to match him and immediately dove in to cover his neck and chest with kisses and gentle bites, pleasantly mewling at the taste of his skin. You flicked your tongue against his nipple and hummed in delight at his sharp intake of breath. It seemed impossible, you being there with the wild boy who caught your attention from a distance a year ago, so you were going to make the most of it. You kissed across his chest and down his arms, leaving kitten licks beside each tattoo before you reached his fingers. You collected his large hands in yours and toyed with his rings for a moment, before pressing a kiss to each fingertip.
Eddie felt like he was in a daze watching you, each movement and kiss lifting him higher into the haziness of his arousal. He couldn’t believe a sweet thing like you would actually give him the time of day, but here you were borderline sucking on his fingers and making eyes at him. He needed you. Resting his hands on your hips at first, he collected the fabric of your shirt and slowly pulled it over your head, like he was unwrapping a delicate present. He let the article fall to the bed beside him as he took you in: kneeling on his bed in your bra, wet marks from his kisses across your neck, your eyes glazed over in lust, biting your bottom lip while giving him a shy smile as you reached back to unclasp your bra. He was done for.
The way Eddie was so perfectly following your instruction was driving you both insane. He tackled you back onto the mattress, covering your face with kisses, daring to get as close to the corners of your smile as possible still without touching your lips as you laughed. You both managed to undo each other’s jeans and slide them down your legs, taking a moment to process the sights before you. Hands roaming everywhere, you gently bit his shoulder as his fingers traced over the wetness of your panties, you cradling his balls and firm erection through his boxers. He laid open-mouthed kisses down your sternum and kneaded your breasts with his free hand, loving how you squealed when he would pinch a nipple.
He was painfully hard at this point, and all of your caressing and perfect squeezing further drove him to pleasure. He wanted so badly to be inside you, but he needed to feel you first. He chuckled at the pout you gave him as he retracted his hand from between your thighs. “I promise you’ll like what I’m going to do, princess.” He slid his hand beneath the waistband of your panties and swirled a finger around your already swollen clit. “You’re soaked for me, huh? You want more?” He teased as his fingertips lazily stroked through your slick folds.
“Please. Yes, please, Eddie.” You whined and swiveled your hips. Your back arched off the bed as he pressed a long digit into you, satisfying you in a way you had been craving for weeks. You dipped your hand into the band of his boxers and wrapped your fingers around his length the best you could, slowly stroking the silky skin. He had you so worked up, he easily slipped a second finger inside you. “More, please. Wanna feel your rings.”
“Oh, fuck.” Eddie was losing himself in your touch and deliciously needy sounds. He pressed his two fingers deeper, just enough to have his bulky rings nudging your entrance. His pace continued to be torturously slow, his fingers filling you repeatedly to the hilt of his rings as he watched you alternate between closing your eyes in bliss and looking up at him when you gave him a firm stroke.
You would be lost in taking in every little expression Eddie made if he wasn’t making you so lost in pleasure. His fingers curled inside you perfectly, your back further arching off the bed as you neared your climax. His mouth was hanging slack as you continued to stroke him, his lips puffy from dragging them down your body. He looked perfectly debauched. You gasped when he rubbed his thumb against your clit with both fingers pressed deep inside you. Your hips bucked against his hand, and you started to stroke his cock faster. “Eddie, I’m… I-oh!” Your orgasm washed you in absolute pleasure as you clenched around his fingers, the motion of his thumb prolonging your release.
“There you go, princess. Keep coming for me. So pretty. So, so pretty.” He egged you on, feeling such pride in making you tremble the way you did. His cock throbbed in your hand, desperate for release at this point, but he couldn’t stop playing with your sweet pussy and watching you writhe for him.
You used your free hand to weakly grasp at his wrist, stilling his movement. “So good. So sensitive. Just a second.” You giggled as you guided his fingers out of you, humming at the feeling. Propping yourself up on your elbow, you continued to stroke him, running your thumb through the precum dripping from the tip. Once you felt ready, you laid back down and beckoned him toward you, spreading your knees as he climbed between them. “Are you ready, Eddie?” You bumped the tip of your noses together again.
“Hell yes,” Eddie lowly whispered, his breath fanning over your face as he leaned forward to press a kiss to your forehead. "Are you ready, princess?" He sat back and slowly stroked himself, rubbing the nearly purple head through your wetness.
"Mhm.." You nodded up at him, wiggling your hips to invite him to fill you up. "Need you, Eds."
Eddie exhaled a shaky breath, his heart pounding in his chest and ears at the reality of where he was. He moaned as he slowly pushed into you, his forehead falling to rest atop of yours when he filled you completely. He stilled for a moment, for you to adjust to him and even more so for him to not finish the second he slid into your slick heat. "Oh, fuck, I'm inside you, princess. You feel so perfect." He mumbled into your forehead and kissed it again before pulling back to look at you.
The stretch of Eddie filling you was overwhelming in the best way possible. You grabbed his shoulder, your nails digging into his skin. "So full. Oh, my god. Please move. I need it."
He pulled almost completely out before slowly sliding all the way back in, already losing himself to how good you felt around him. He pushed himself up onto his hands that rested on either side of your head to watch you as he picked up his pace. He was hypnotized by how your body moved under him; the way your breasts jiggled with each thrust, your legs wrapping around his waist and pulling him further into you, and how you reached above yourself to grasp his wrists. The room was filled with sounds of your combined moans and the slapping of skin, something neither of you could get enough of in that moment. Eddie almost came as you sat up and started kissing and sucking at the tattoos on his forearms. “Jesus, princess. You’re gonna make me cum if you keep doin’ that.”
Your body was thrumming with pleasure, being filled so perfectly and surrounded by everything Eddie Munson. He looked so fucked out and wild on top of you, his hair bouncing with his thrusts and his beautiful eyes locked on you. You wanted to make him come, bring him the same pleasure he already brought you so easily and was going to again. You leaned forward and bit at the tattoo on his chest, your tongue laving at the expanse of skin between your teeth. He shouted and his thrusts picked up, absolutely pounding into you now. A mewl from you was muffled against his chest. With a ‘pop’ you released his pec and kissed up his neck, “C’mon, Eddie. Make me cum again, then finish inside me.”
“Oh, god.” Eddie was gritting his teeth at this point, determined to make you hit your peak again before he did. He slid a hand down your body, rolling a nipple between his fingers before settling his hand on your pubic bone, his thumb quickly circling over your clit. He was losing his pace, every kiss and bite you pressed to his skin was pushing him closer and closer. “Let me hear you. Let me hear those pretty noises, and come for me again.” He changed the motion of his thumb and nearly roared as you keened beneath him.
“Yes, yes, yes. Oh, fuck, yes, Eddie!” You buried your face into his chest as your orgasm came crashing down on you. Your entire body felt like it was on fire, flames lapping at you with each pulse of your release around him. “Please fill me up. Please!” You lifted your eyes to look at him, needing to see him come apart.
“Holy shit. I’m gonna cum, I-” Eddie thrust deep inside once more before spilling his release inside of you. The remaining clenching from your pussy leaving him with nothing but to give the smallest thrusts as he finished. He dropped to his elbows, his hair falling over his shoulders and caging your faces together for a moment. He rested his forehead against yours again as you both tried to regain your breath.
When his heart rate finally slowed, he reluctantly pulled out of you and rolled onto his back, arms open and inviting you to lay with him. He hummed contently as you snuggled into his side, your head resting on his chest. This felt so right.
After a few minutes of comfortable silence between, you suddenly shifted and reached under your side, piquing Eddie’s interest. You grinned up at him as you produced the d20 from earlier. “I think you should roll again.”
Eddie chuckled and plucked the die from your hand. “I guess I can’t really complain about my results from the last one.” Flashing you a cheeky smile, he rolled it in his hands for a moment before dropping it down the curve of your hip. He sat up a little to peer at it sitting on the bed between you, a 20 sitting at the top.
You both cheered and grabbed at each other's face, peering into the other’s eyes before finally closing the distance and pressing your lips together.
summary: your annoyingly charming roommate who you definitely do not, under any circumstances, have feelings for; and a midnight kiss.
cw: mentions of Eddie being a ho, cringe nicknames to jokingly patronize reader, mentions of sex but no real details, kissing (not in this part), both Eddie and reader beating around the bush and refusing to own up, date with someone other than Eddie (also not in this part), angsty-ish (?), they find their way to each other eventually.

Sunday was reset day. Like a week had 7 days and a day had 24 hours, Sunday was always reset day. Groceries from the market around the corner, a load or two of laundry while you vacuum the carpet, ending with a cleaning and wipe down of your bathroom. It was like a ritual, something to summon in a new week full of fresh starts and good energy.
At least it would if it weren't for your roommate, Eddie. If it were up to you, you wouldn't have a roommate in the first place. But between bills for the apartment and tuition, money wasn't exactly dispensable. Even after saving for nearly three years right out of high school. So the small two bedroom apartment, that had walls thinner than paper, was the best you could do for the time being. And a roommate wasn't something you could get around either. So when your friend Robin said she knew a guy who needed a place, and promised that he was employed and would pay his half of the rent on time, you agreed to have him over to assess the apartment.
Within a blink of an eye, Eddie Munson had been your roommate for nearly a year. The two of you couldn't have been more opposite; unless you lived on different poles of the earth. He was chaotic, scatter brained, and never knew when to be quiet. You, on the other hand, were organized and meticulous. Always trying to keep things on the right track in fear of it all falling apart. Hence the desperate need for a roommate. If you could stick it out for just the two years of community college, get your associates degree, and be able to save enough money to transfer to university, you'd succeed.
Eddie had decided to not go back to school. After the shitshow that was high school and the last nearly two and a half years of healing, he thought he owed it to himself to try and pursue his actual passions. Which of course involved late night gigs at any shitty bar him and his band could get a spot at. He was able to score a bussing job at a dive that was close to Hawkins Community, working his way up to bartending throughout the year. It wasn't paying him millions, but it was enough to cover his half of the rent and keep him fed for the time being. Even giving him enough to occasionally slide some over Wayne, just so the old man didn't have to worry himself into an early grave over bills. He'd promised you that living with him would be a breeze. That because of the nightly nature of his job, you'd have the place to yourself most nights, and he was basically nocturnal anyways. Which was true for the most part.
Except for when he had his days off. More times than one time he had invited all of his band mates and even his younger friends to your apartment without letting you know. Leaving for some awkward moments between you and the rest of his friends.
You were humming softly as you stood in front of the bathroom mirror, running a brush through your hair while using the blow dryer on it. The small radio on the shelf blasting as loud as you could get it to, wanting it louder than the annoying whirring of the blow dryer in your ear. All of the noise is so loud, you don't even hear the bathroom door open beside you. It isn't until you hear a high pitched scream that you quickly turn off the blow dryer and turn whip your head around.
"What the hell?!?!" You shout, seeing a younger curly headed kid standing there wide eyed as he stares at you.
"I'M SO SORRY! I'M SO SORRY!" The kid practically screams the apology, immediately shielding his eyes with his hands as he stands there.
"Woah woah woah, what's going on?" You hear your roommates voice as he comes quickly down the hallway. The rest of his friends follow behind him to see why the younger boy is shouting.
"Looking a little frizzy there, sweetheart." Eddie smirks when he sees your half dried hair, the group of boys behind him snickering as they all watch.
"You know, you could've let me know you were having people over?" You snark at him, wrapping your robe tighter around yourself to save some of your dignity.
"Oh, right. Is it cool if I have the guys over to practice a few new songs? Thanks, you're a doll. Cute bra by the way." He teases you even more while his friends continue to laugh.
"Ugh, get out! GET OUT!" You grab whatever is closest to you and throw it in his direction. A spray bottle flying past Eddie's head as he barely dodges it. Before he or any of them can make anymore snide comments, you slam the bathroom door in their faces and lock it.
Regardless of the awkward interactions with his friends, Eddie could be a nuisance all on his own. Leaving his leather jacket thrown on the ground by the couch after coming in from a shift, walking around in only his towel after a shower while dripping water everywhere, and playing his music entirely too loud. A few times you'd been on the receiving end of your neighbors rants about how loud it could be, profusely apologizing for the noise you didn't even cause.
The newest and most irritating trait he had picked up was his newfound infatuation with women. Eddie had always been someone who appreciated women, he'd had a good handful of crushes growing up. There was Tiffany Kemp back in grade school, she always wore her strawberry blonde hair in pigtails and smelled like a birthday cake had thrown up on her. Vanessa Anderson in sixth grade, she would bring everyone a homemade birthday card on their birthdays, even Eddie. Because of him becoming the resident dealer in high school, there were a few girls that would bat their eyelashes and try their hand at flirting for a little something extra, but Eddie wasn't like that. He was a dealer, but that didn't automatically make him a creep.
Now that he had moved his way up to the bartender position at his job, he was slowly coming to realize that there were girls out there that actually liked whatever it was he had going on. Girls who liked the long haired, leather wearing, metalhead persona. And maybe, perhaps, may-haps, he was living out a fantasy he had only ever dared to think about in his mind. Where a beautiful girl actually wanted to spend the night with him. For years he'd spent very lonely nights with his left hand, flipping through pages of old Playboys and Vampirella comics, occasionally renting a video from behind the curtain at video stores. But every once in awhile, even back then, when the stars and planets all aligned, he'd actually get lucky. It wasn't as if he had a smorgasbord of girls crawling their way into his bed, so his options had been limited. All the scarring he had coasting along the sides of his abdomen had been enough to make him want to hide away forever. Only now, about three years after the whole almost succumbing to demon bat creatures, was he gaining the confidence he lost while being used as a chew toy.
Back in high school he was older than most of his peers, and younger girls weren't necessarily something he was willing to take a risk on. Dealing was already enough to keep him on the radar of the small town cops, he didn't need questioning from any parents about their oh so innocent daughters going around with him. So he lost his virginity to an older single mom that lived a ways down at the trailer park. He'd helped work on her car while she kept him company, and she was nice enough. It was good. As good as a completely inexperienced 19 year old could get. Which seemed like heaven at the time. But now that he was gaining more experience, he was finding it easier and easier to flirt his way into bed.
It hasn't bothered you much. You really could look past it, if it weren't for how loud it all was. Sometimes, when you have to lay in your own bed and try to force yourself to sleep, it felt like he was doing it on purpose. The loud consistent banging of his headboard against your wall, each girl and their screams of pleasure, and all of his stupid encouraging grunts and growls. Most of those nights were spent with a set of headphones over your ears and a pillow covering your head, just so you were able to drown the noise out, and sometimes not even that did it. More times than one, you had resulted in banging your hand on the wall hard enough to get him and whoever was with him to quiet down.
All in all, Eddie was a distraction. A loud, obnoxious, annoyingly handsome distraction. It's not like you were blind. It was clear to see why he was beginning to garner so much more female attention. Decently tall, a kind smile that made his gorgeous eyes sparkle, tattoos that littered his skin, and despite the deceivingly dangerous aura, he was always funny and kind.
You found that on the rare occasions where you both were home alone, the two of you seemed to gravitate more and more to each other. Eating late breakfasts together in the early afternoon, once you both managed to drag yourselves out of your respective beds. Leading to lazily lounging around the apartment together while you probably caught up on your most current book, and he jotted down new ideas for a song he was working on or notes for any upcoming campaigns. Usually the day ends in long conversations about your week, late night take out, and watching reruns of Charlie's Angels or The Golden Girls.
Eddie looked forward to those days together. He liked getting to view you in a more domestic light. You were always so conclusive and practiced, he was surprised you hadn't had any type of mental breakdown with the way you run yourself rampant. He loved to watch you unwind and finally take a breath away from all your responsibilities. Doing his best to make you laugh with any stupid joke or ridiculous story he had from the bar. Watching as the tension in your body seemed to deflate as the day went on. Eddie liked knowing he was probably one of the only people who ever got to see you this way. Relaxed and unguarded. It made something in his chest melt in a way he was always trying to avoid.
There was something about you that made him feel so warm and mushy that he had to keep reminding himself to get it together. Constantly telling himself that you were far out of his league. Far too smart for him and sometimes your own good. But he liked having a cute face to come home to, the two of you like ships passing in the night most often. Him coming in early mornings from the bar and you just getting up to go to work or get to a class. His favorite times being the ones where he gets to come home early enough to find you at your desk in your bedroom, nose buried in a barrage of textbooks while you scribble notes with one hand and flip the pages of the other. Which is exactly how he found you on this Sunday night.
"Honey, I'm home!" He announced from your bedroom doorway, after taking only less than three minutes to watch you scribble in silence.
"Hello, Edward." You jump at the sound of his voice, too lost in your work to even notice his set of amber eyes boring into the back of your skull.
"How's my favorite little scholar doing? Working hard or hardly working?" He continues with his teases as he enters your room, half sitting on the only spot of your desk that isn't covered in loose paper.
"Considering I've got a final that's worth 80 percent of my grade in two days, I'd say I'm currently draining all of my brain power." You take the moment to put the highlighter and pen down to look at him, your vision somewhat fuzzy from how long you'd been staring at text on the page.
"Then what? You're off for break?" He questions, crossing his arms over his chest while he watches you spin side to side in your chair.
"Yup, get about a month off for Christmas break before the next semester." You nod, sighing at just the idea of a break that long.
"But you'll be done in time for the party, right?"
Every year some of your overlapping friend groups decide to get together for the holiday's. This year the get together was going to be on New Years Eve. Usually it was just a gift exchange, some food, music, and really strong drinks that were sure to keep you warm. Eddie was the one who thought it would be a good idea to have it here at your shared apartment. Hoping the view from your buildings roof would be a good place to see fireworks.
"Yeah, I'll be done in time. I still have to find something to wear and get a gift for the gift exchange." You let your mind wander as you mindlessly doodle on a free space in your notes.
"Something skimpy and tight, it'll draw attention away from all this." Eddie gestures to your face as he speaks, and without missing a beat you flick a crumpled up piece of paper at his head.
"Are you in my room for a reason, or do you just like to stand there and be an idiot for fun?" You question him some, he never usually spends more than a few minutes at a time in your room, something about your respective spaces being "sacred" or whatever.
"Just wanted to give you a heads up, I'm having company over in about thirty minutes." He wiggles his eyebrows at you, meaning he'll be having a girl over in half an hour.
"Ugh, not tonight Eddie. I've got so much shit to study and I don't need to be hearing your grunting all night long." You roll your eyes at just the idea of him having a girl over tonight. You've been crouched over your desk for the last couple hours and feel like you've barely made a dent in the material you need to go over. The last thing you needed was to have to listen to him and whoever his pick of the week was.
"It'll be quick, I think…" He tries to compromise.
"Gross," His statement alone makes you cringe.
"I'll make sure we keep it down, you won't even know what we're doing." He promises.
"Extra gross." You shake your head. "And I definitely will know, considering you're standing here telling me like I'm a nurse at the clinic you frequent."
"Hey, Nurse Josie is a very nice woman, I buy her a cup of coffee once a month whenever I go in and see her." He shakes a finger in your direction.
"My point is," You cut him off. "just not tonight, okay?"
"And my point is, I'm only telling you as a heads up, not because I need to ask you for permission." He snickers, his shoulders bouncing just slightly as he looks at you almost condecendingly.
"Just-" You cut yourself off to take a breath, even having to think about arguing about his sex life was frustrating enough.
"Just close my door on your way out." With a defeated sigh, you turn your body away from him and pick up your pen and highlighter, deciding trying to focus on the work in front of you would be enough to drown out whatever was about to take place.
"Will do, doll. I owe you." He pats the desk as he pushes himself towards the door.
"Yeah, whatever." You roll your eyes as you mumble to yourself, already reaching for your headphones.
You debate on picking up the phone and calling Robin, just to complain. She was usually on the receiving end of your rants about Eddie, considering she knew him well enough too. Letting you go on and on about his somewhat patronizing nature, and the way he seems to less than value the fact that you both share this place, or the idea that it makes you uncomfortable to have to wake up to strangers in your space every few weeks. Eddie would probably say you were jealous, that your lack of dating or one night stands just makes you sound bitter. Which, in return, makes you even more angry.
It wasn't that you were inept or unable, you just had other things to worry about. Sure maybe it had been a few months since you'd been out on a date, even longer since you had been intimate with anyone, but you were fairing just fine. The vibrating electronic boyfriend in the bottom drawer of your nightstand had been seeing the light of day a lot more often than not, but something was better than nothing. School has been really kicking your ass, especially lately. And dating wasn't always the easiest with a male roommate. The few times you had brought a guy home, they were almost always immediately turned off by the fact that you lived with a male. Eddie was never any help either, making jokes about having seen your birthmark that's hidden on your upper thigh. Which was true, he had seen it, when you and your friends went swimming together. Even with the most innocent of explanations, your date for the evening wanted none of it.
It hadn't even been a full hour later when your bedroom door was being overwhelmed with consistent knocking, making you groan and pull your headphones off. Before you can make an attempt to grab the doorknob, the knocking gets more insistent and loud.
"Jesus Christ, what?!" You huff as you pull the door open, revealing a flushed and almost panicked looking Eddie in only a tight pair of boxers.
"Oh my god, what the hell is wrong with you?!" You quickly raise a hand to block your view of his lower body.
"Sorry for the show, but I have a really huge problem." He sounds almost out of breath, and if this were a normal circumstance you might think he looked good. His flushed appearance doubled with his toned body on display makes your mind wander a bit. But the splattering of pink lipstick on his neck and remembering there's a whole other woman just on the other side of the wall waiting for him, kills the fantasy.
"Aww, don't worry sweetie, it happens to every guy around your age." You rub his arm in faux comfort, joking about the functionality or dysfunction of his nether regions.
"What? No no no, that's not what-" He huffs in slight annoyance at your demeaning joke.
"I'm out of rubbers." He relents with a sigh.
"Oh you've got to be shitting me." The admission makes you laugh, a hand quick to come up to your mouth to stop yourself from doubling over in laughter.
"I forgot to get a new pack when I last bought cigarettes." He sounds angry with himself, making it even harder for you to stop from laughing in his face.
"And just what is it you want me to do? I'm not exactly a 24 hour pharmacy."
"Oh c'mon, if anyone has a box of unused condoms, it's you." His annoyance isn't at you, but you are its current target. The statement makes you raise an eyebrow at him and scoff, taking a step back so you can slam the door in his face.
"WAIT! wait wait wait…" He quickly pushes the door open when you try and close it.
"I'm sorry, that was rude. But you're my last hope here, doll. If you could help me out, I'll be in your debt." His voice is strained, like it's hurting him to say this.
He felt antsy and embarrassed having to stand here, nearly naked, and ask you for this. The lack of clothes wasn't the problem, you'd seen him in only a towel one too many times to count. But something about having to ask his very cute roommate for a condom he was going to use on a girl that wasn't her, that made something in his gut churn wickedly. The beat of silence on your end also wasn't helping. Was this too much? Was it crossing a boundary of roommate-ship you would be uncomfortable with?
"…. breakfast from Annie's Diner tomorrow morning…" You demand, thinking you might as well get something out of him.
"Done." He nods, perking up just a bit when you agree to help.
"And… that pasta from Enzo's we both like." You point a finger at him.
"Seriously?" He huffs and you start to push the door closed on him again.
"FINE! fine, breakfast and dinner." He gives in and you make your way back into your room while he follows. Watching as you open the bottom drawer of your nightstand to dig through it.
"Uh, what is that?" He chuckles as his eyes catch the hot pink vibrator in the drawer.
"Don't worry about it." You mumble, your face immediately feeling hot from his discovery.
"Naughty, naughty girl. And here I thought I was the only one around here getting any type of action." He nudges your shoulder as he teases you. Eddie had assumed, of course, that you were taken care of, in that sense. He could've sworn he'd heard the electronic humming through the wall on some late nights, but he never let himself get too far with those fantasies.
"Do you want the condom or not?" You roll your eyes as you shut the drawer closed and hold out the tiny metallic package to him.
"Yes, please." He nods as he plucks the small square packet from your fingertips.
"Thank you, doll! Breakfast and dinner's on me tomorrow!" He quickly pecks the top of your head before skidding out of your room and back to his own, slamming the door shut. You choose to ignore the shiver that trails down your spine when his lips come in contact with your head, closing your own door and putting your headphones back on so you can try and get some studying done.
Eddie does his best to balance all the food in his hands and the two coffee's from the diner, struggling to get the apartment door unlocked. He'd knocked a good three or four times but you never came to his aid. Normally you'd be up by now, Monday's were usually the days you got up early to take a shift at the library before your afternoon class. He didn't even hear the shower going as he set down the breakfast he'd promised you. Deciding he should at least make sure you were alive, he grabs your coffee and makes his way to your bedroom door.
"Sweets! Breakfast is here, as promised." Eddie knocks on your door, eyebrows furrowing when he doesn't get a response, or hear any movement.
"Hello? You alive in there?" He knocks again, met with another round of silence. Now he was starting to get worried, deciding it was better to go in and have you be angry, then leave your body there to rot.
The door is, luckily, unlocked as he slowly turns the knob. Making sure it doesn't squeak too much as he pushes it open. His eyes land on your bed first, the whole thing made nearly to military standard, like it was pulled straight from catalogue pages. There's no way you slept in it if it looks that pristine.
Eddie surveys the rest of the room, nearly jumping out of his skin once he finds you. Your body slumped over your desk, head resting between the open pages of one of your textbooks with a pen dangling from your fingertips. Eddie can feel his heart begin to race, his mind jumping to the worst case scenario possible. Was an overly educated induced aneurysm even possible? He gripped the doorknob a bit tighter at the fear of something actually being wrong, his heart rate slowing only when he sees the rise and fall of your back as you breathe. He lets out his own relieved sigh when he realizes you are in fact alive.
Eddie risks it, taking a few tentative steps closer to where you're clearly passed out. Watching the way a few soft snores escape your parted lips. It makes his chest flutter in a way he hadn't felt in a long time. The way your lashes drape over the tops of your cheeks, casting a soft shadow there. He'd never seen you so at peace before. It almost made him want to let you stay asleep longer, just so he could watch you. But judging by the way your head was positioned and how your whole body was slumped over, he knew you had to be more than uncomfortable.
"Uhh… sweetheart?" He whispers, gently poking your shoulder a couple times, which only makes you groan quietly in your sleep and turn your head away from him.
"C'mon sleeping beauty… you need to wake up before you break your neck." He tries again to wake you, now rubbing a hand against your back. Watching as you slowly begin to rouse yourself awake, a prominent indent on your cheek from where your face had been smushed against the textbook. He in no way, under any circumstances, thinks about pressing a kiss to the spot that's been indented.
"Eddie?" Your voice is soft and raspy from just waking up, making Eddie's body tense as he hears his name. The sound alone making his knees nearly buckle, like he was melting there at your feet. He takes you in, seeing the way your eyebrows furrow in confusion as your eyes slowly blink open, the light shining in from the window blinding you.
"Mornin' sleepyhead. Your bed would've been a much comfier spot, you know?" He chuckles softly, doing his best to sound normal, setting down the cup of coffee on a space where there aren't any loose papers or notes. Your body unfurling as you sit up straight and take in your surroundings. A hand quickly moving to your neck as wince, a soft crackle of your back as you stretch.
"Jesus, I don't even remember falling asleep." You groan once you realize that you spent the whole night hunched over your desk, the last thing you remember is having to reread the same page three, four, maybe five times as you tried to keep yourself awake. Your body was aching and your neck was so stiff you could barely turn your head in both directions.
"What time is it?"
"About to be ten. Missed your shift at the library and everything." Eddie points out. He's really trying his best not to stare, but the way you gently run your hands through the tangles in your hair, and rub your eyes awake is nearly taking the breath from his lungs.
Eddie wasn't oblivious to the idea that he was attracted to you. It wasn't so much an idea as it was a hard fact. He'd known from the moment Robin introduced the both of you, when you were desperate enough to even consider him for the position as your roommate. He'd managed to pull himself together enough to get you to agree. After a few conversations and promises of paid rent and half the security deposit. He had been able to worm his way into your life. Even if it was just on the outskirts of it, he wanted to stay there. Getting to watch you in times like this, soft and exhausted from running your brain into overdrive, it was the closest to heaven he believed he could get.
"I didn't take a shift today. I knew I'd need the extra study time." It's the turning of your textbook pages that breaks Eddie out of his momentary gawking, watching as you ready yourself to dive back into whatever word soup is between those pages.
"No no no no, you need to wash up, eat something, and then maybe you'll be able to start studying again." He's quick to slap the textbook closed on you, refusing to let you continue when you've already run yourself into exhaustion. Hands already gripping the backs of your arms as he gently pulls you up from the chair and to your feet.
"Who are you, my keeper?" You huff at him as he pushes you to your dresser, opening the top one to dig through it like he'd done it before.
"No, but considering you just worked yourself into a hole and fell asleep on your desk, you might need one." Eddie retorts as he digs out a pair of your underwear and a bra, smirking to himself as he holds up the lacy pair in front of you both.
"Now why have you been hiding these from me?" He laughs as you quickly swipe the undergarments from his hands, groaning at his attempt of a joke while he opens the next drawer to look for some clothes.
"Eddie, I don't have any time for this. I still have so much material to cover."
"Well make time. Now go shower, your breakfast is getting cold." He grabs whatever shirt and shorts he can before ushering you out of your bedroom door towards your shared bathroom. As you're walking into the bathroom, he playfully slaps you on the butt, heartily laughing when you gasp out a yelp and turn to hit him a few times.
"QUIT!!"
Even though you hated to admit it, he was right. The shower was much needed and the heat helped the remaining ache in your muscles from the crumpled sleeping position. Your head felt less swarmed as you allowed yourself to relax after nearly drowning yourself in studying. The familar scent of breakfast hits you while drying off and getting dressed, instinctively making you move a bit faster so you can make your way to the kitchen.
"There she is." Eddie grins when you walk into the room, a soft flutter of butterflies moving through you just from the notice, and how cheerful he sounds to have your presence near.
"I feel like I got hit by a bus." You groan groggily, taking a seat at the small table that's set for two.
"Yeah well, sleeping on a desk all night might do that." He chuckles, as he plates both of your breakfasts from the take out bags.
"What about you? Get any sleep last night?" You're a little more than a little curious as to how his night played out.
"Don't you worry about me, doll. I am very well rested." His he laughs, almost a bit too smug for your liking.
"So much so that I made good on my promise, as any good roommate should, and went all the way to Annie's and got you your favorite pancakes." His smile gives him away immediately, letting you know that he's more than proud of himself as he walks over and sets down the full plate of food in front of you.
"Banana chocolate chip pancakes, two over easy eggs, two slices of bacon, one hash brown, and of course, one caramel cappuccino."
"The fact that you have my order down to an exact science, tells me we need to stop eating out so much." You chuckle softly as he moves around the space to grab his own plate of food along with his cup of coffee.
You can't help but smile to yourself as you lift your coffee to your lips. Eddie had transferred your drink from the to go cup into your favorite mug and warmed the drink up again. The sweet taste along with the heat was enough to make you sigh contentedly. He watched as you sipped the drink, the corners of his lips tilting up in a soft smile as your shoulders deflated.
"Well it just so happens that nearly a year of being roommates will have you paying attention to things you never really thought to pay attention to before." Eddie mutters through a bite of his waffles, a soft blush crossing his features when he thinks about what he's said. You do your best to not think too hard about what he means by that, picking up a bite of food to distract from the warmth crawling up your neck.
"I think after last night, we officially know too much about each other." You mumble through the bite of food you're chewing. Recalling not only the way he was desperate enough to ask you for a condom, but his humiliating discovery of the hot pink vibrator in your bottom drawer.
"And I think you might be right about that." Eddie's face feels even hotter when he thinks about his desperate plea from less than twelve hours ago.
"Thanks for breakfast, I might have to extort you for pancakes more often."
"It's no problem, I'll take any excuse to get these waffles, no extortion needed." Eddie talks through the large bite of food he just shoveled into his mouth.
"Don't talk with your mouth full." You lightly scold, tossing a napkin in his direction. Biting back a smile as he wipes the syrup from the side of his mouth and laughs.

There was something painfully millennial about stumbling through your apartment door, drunk as a skunk, throwing yourself onto the couch without bothering the turn on the lights and opening the long-forgotten Facebook app just to respond to all the birthday wishes people had left on your timeline.
Which was saying something, considering you’d just gotten back from celebrating your twenty-fifth birthday, which meant you were very much gen z – not a millennial, no matter what the younger gen-z’s insisted on.
Your feet ached from the heels you’d squeezed yourself into earlier that night, your mascara had probably migrated somewhere around your cheekbones, and your fingers hit backspace more than any other key as you stumbled through half-coherent replies to anyone Facebook had reminded to wish you a happy birthday.
By the time you’d made it through the seemingly endless stream of notifications, you decided it was time for your annual reminder on why you never opened the app for anything besides this exact task.
It was nearing three-thirty in the morning, and you’d been telling yourself you were getting off the couch and going to bed for the last ten minutes without making any real effort to move. Instead, your thumb kept scrolling despite your better judgement, your brain pleasantly fuzzy from one too many birthday shots.
And then you froze, thumb hovering over the cracked screen as Facebook loaded another section.
People You May Know
Normally, you would’ve scrolled right past it without a second thought. This time, however, you didn’t when a particular profile made your brain grind to a complete halt.
You had no idea whether it was actually true or just one of those Facebook myths people swore by, but you’d once hear that the profiles showing up under People You May Know had looked at yours recently.
And if that was true, why the hell had your former high school music teacher been looking at your profile?
Your fuzzy eyes narrowed at the tiny profile picture. There was no mistaking the familiar mess of curls, now streaked with silver, or the faint stubble he’d never really grown back when he used to pace the front of the music room with an acoustic guitar slung over his shoulder.
Eddie Munson.
Or rather Mr. Munson. At least, that’s what you’d spend four years calling him.
For a ridiculous second, you simply stared. Then, before your drunken brain had the chance to think better of it, your thumb tapped the add friend button.
Waking up with a raging headache – the kind you’d never seemed to get back when you were sixteen – was easily the worst gift your twenty-fifth birthday had given you.
Well, the second worst – because the first was the particular notification waiting for you on your lock screen when you reached over to silence your blaring alarm.
God, no.
No, no, no.
Your stomach dropped and the only thing you could do was stare at it until your phone’s screen dimmed and went black. And then you tapped the screen, and stared a little longer.
Yeah, you were never, ever drinking again.
Warm sunlight spilled through the gap in your curtains, illuminating the mess you’d made at four in the morning when you’d finally stumbled into your bedroom before collapsing face-first onto your mattress.
Instead of throwing back the comforter and begrudgingly cleaning up the hurricane that had swept through your room, you let yourself flop back against the pillow and stared at the ceiling. Maybe if you stared hard enough, it’d crumble into big, heavy chunks and put you out of your misery. No such luck, unfortunately.
Your stomach, however, had decided to punish you instead.
One second you were lying perfectly still. The next, you were bolting upright and sprinting towards the bathroom, shoving strands of hair away from your face with one hand while still clutching your phone in the other.
The few blissful seconds of silence were interrupted by the sound of your buzzing against the tiled floor, and then once again.
“Please, God,” you groaned after flushing the toilet, letting your head fall back against the cool wall. “I am begging you. Just kill me.”
It was fine. Everything was alright.
The buzzing was probably Hayley flooding your phone with blurry pictures of the night before. Or maybe it was the cute guy you’d given your number to a couple of weeks ago finally deciding to text you.
You didn’t actually want to know.
As long as you didn’t look, there was still a microscopic chance last night’s Facebook-induced humiliation had been nothing more than an alcohol-fuelled hallucination.
Your phone buzzed three more times before the screen faded back to black once again, only to light back up when it started ringing. This, at least, was something you could handle. Answering the phone didn’t require unlocking the screen, and as long as you didn’t unlock it, Mr. Munson technically hadn’t accepted your friend request. That was how it worked, right? Probably.
Hopefully.
“Kill me, Hayley,” you whimpered as you swiped to answer the call.
“Only if you kill me too,” she mumbled back, her voice barely audible over the constant rustling on the other end of the line. “I just sent you the pictures, by the way.”
You squeezed your eyes shut. “Please tell me I don’t look cross-eyed in half of them.”
“…The sun is shining today,” she said eventually.
“Fucking hell.” You sighed, already knowing exactly what that meant.
“Listen–”
“I did something so fucking stupid, Hayley,” you groaned before you could stop yourself.
“Oh, no.” You could practically picture her pinching the bridge of her nose even before you told her what you had done. “What did you do this time?”
“I don’t wanna talk about it.”
The line fell quiet for a few seconds before Hayley let out a long, suffering sigh followed by your name.
“Spill. Now.”
Suddenly, the tiny spiderweb tucked away in the corner of the bathroom ceiling looked infinitely more interesting than continuing this conversation.
“I… added my old high school music teacher on Facebook last night,” you admitted eventually.
“The hot one?”
“Hayley.”
Then your phone lit up with a FaceTime request. You briefly considered declining it, turning your phone off, and moving to a different continent. Because you just knew Hayley was going to make you share your screen and open the godforsaken blue app.
Against your better judgement, you answered anyway.
Hayley took one look at you and grimaced. “Jesus, you look like absolute dog shit.”
“Thank you, Hayley,” you deadpanned. “I feel like it too.”
“I told you not to order those extra shots.”
“Yeah, well…” You pushed yourself off the bathroom floor with a groan. “You didn’t exactly stop me either.”
Every muscle in your body protested as you shuffled over to the sink, twisting the tap open before splashing cold water over your face. While you reached for glass and filled it with some water, Hayley dragged you on an impromptu tour of her apartment ceiling as she wandered from one room to the next. The microphone crackled a few times as she propped her phone against something on the kitchen counter before pulling open the fridge.
“Share your screen. I wanna see him,” she commanded, scanning the shelves for something to eat before deciding she had absolutely nothing and swinging the door shut again.
“No.”
“Share. Your. Screen.”
You stared at your phone with pursed lips and narrowed eyes.
“Or I’m posting one of last night’s pictures on Instagram.” She crossed her arms over her chest, lifting an eyebrow in challenge. “The one where you’re cross-eyes and practically flashing your panties.”
“I was what–” You squeezed your eyes shut and pinched the bridge of your nose. “Fine. Fuck.”
Never in your life had you unlocked your phone so fast.
Screw Hayley for making your life a living hell, screw drunk-you for putting you in this situation, and while you were at it, screw Mark Zuckerberg and his stupid fucking app too.
As the screen-sharing countdown ticked from three, you swiped through your home screen until you found the blue icon.
Facebook opened to an E! News post about the latest celebrity breakup, followed by a collection of AI-generated images people had somehow decided were worthy of sharing on their stories. Your thumb hovered uncertainly over the bottom of the screen, caught somewhere between the Friends and Notifications tabs.
Then your eyes drifted upwards when you noticed a little red bubble sitting in the top-right corner of the screen.
“…No.”
“What?” Hayley frowned. “What happened?”
“Someone messaged me,” you whispered, your eyes glued to the notification as though looking away might somehow make it disappear.
“Open it.” Hayley’s face lit up from the tiny FaceTime window in the corner of your screen.
“Absolutely not.”
“What if it’s him?” she gasped, leaning closer to her own screen. “Come on, open it already!”
“Are you absolutely insane?” you whisper-shrieked, sounding more like a teenager sneaking a late-night phone call after bedtime than a twenty-five year old woman standing barefoot in her own bathroom. “What if it is him?”
“Exactly!” Hayley exclaimed. “Click on it!”
Your thumb slowly drifted towards the upper-right corner of the screen, hovering over the little red messenger bubble for far too long.
“Do it,” Hayley urged.
Biting your lip, you swallowed around the pounding heartbeat lodged somewhere in your throat and tapped the messenger icon.
One new conversation sat at the very top of the list. Your heart immediately sank somewhere into your stomach as your eyes landed on the name.
Eddie Munson
“Holy fucking shit,” you whispered.
“What?” Hayley breathed, immediately perking up. “Is that him?”
You didn’t bother answering. Your thumb hovered over his name for another second before you decided ripping the band-aid off all at once was better than dragging it out any longer. So, before you could talk yourself out of it again, you tapped the conversation.
The first message had been sent a little after eight in the morning.
Happy birthday! Hope you had a good one.
You stared at it for a moment. It was… completely harmless. Friendly, even. Perfectly normal.
And yet, the knot in your stomach refused to loosen just enough for you to take a breath as your eyes drifted to the second timestamp – sent two hours later.
Did you end up going to Arizona after graduation? How’s that treating you?
“There’s…” Your voice caught in your throat. “There’s two.”
“Yes, I can see that,” Hayley replied dryly.
“Shut up.”
“Did you tell him you were going to Arizona?”
“I-I guess?” You frowned. “I don’t even remember.”
Hayley stared at you for another second before pointing an accusing finger at your screen.
“He remembers where you went to college,” she said, a smug, knowing look slowly creeping across her face. “You graduated, what? Seven years ago?”
“I know.”
“And he remembers.”
“Yes, Hayley.” You rubbed a hand over your face. “I can see that.”
For a long moment, neither of you moved. Had it not been for the occasional crackle in the call or a passing car, you could’ve sworn the connection had frozen. Then Hayley smiled – not just any smile, but that slow, knowing smile that immediately made you suspicious.
“Don’t.”
“I haven’t even said anything!”
“You’re thinking loud enough.”
“So…” she drawled, folding her arms across her chest with infuriating satisfaction. “Are we gonna answer him, or what?”
“We? We aren’t doing anything.” You looked at her as though she’d completely lost her mind. “I’m deleting Facebook, changing my name, and moving to Antarctica.”
Hayley snorted. “Oh, please. Stop being so dramatic.”
“What am I supposed to say?” you continued, exasperated. “‘Thanks! I had a great birthday. nearly drank myself to death and accidentally added you. Arizona was a complete shitshow, but I survived. I’m back in Indiana now, though. Wanna grab a drink?’”
Hayley’s face contorted as an unimpressed expression spread over as your rambling finally came to an end. You took a shaky breath, completely failing to ignore the twitch that had started somewhere around your left eye.
“Well,” she said after a moment, thoughtfully scratching her chin. “Yeah. But maybe not with those exact words.”
The mirror reflected your wide-eyed panic right back at you as you chewed on you lower lip, desperately trying to gather your thoughts. With a quick swipe, you shoved Hayley’s little FaceTime window into the corner of the screen, sparing her from watching you actively unravel in your own bathroom.
Leaving the bathroom light glowing behind you, you hurried down the narrow hallway towards the kitchen. Hayley snorted at your theatrics before mumbling something about coffee sounding good herself.
“What the fuck am I supposed to say?” you muttered, setting your phone beside the grumbling machine before grabbing your favourite mug from the cupboard.
“Just be normal about it.” She shrugged as though that were the easiest thing in the word. “You’re a fully grown woman. Stop overreacting.”
You shot her a look. “Weren’t you the one having a complete meltdown last week because that hot guy spam-liked your Instagram?”
“Well… Yes.” She scratched absentmindedly at her temple, suddenly finding something very interesting on the ceiling. “But that was last week. Besides, we’re not talking about me.”
The porcelain mug clinked softly against the countertop as you set it down before pulling open one of the kitchen drawers and fishing out the emergency pack of cigarettes hidden behind a pile of takeaway menus.
Normally, you’d have been firmly against smoking indoors. It wasn’t the eighties anymore, and your plants certainly hadn’t signed up for second-hand smoke. Today, however, they were just going to have to deal with it.
The stove clicked a few times before blue flames bursts to life. You held the cigarette over the burner for a moment before the tip glowed orange. Turning the gas back off, you took a long drag, letting the bitter smoke settle in your lungs before slowly exhaling towards the extractor fan.
“What do I say?” you asked after a long moment, defeated as you leaned against the small kitchen island.
Your eyes drifted back to the open conversation. Just two, harmless messages, that was all – so why did it feel like you were about to sit an exam you hadn’t studied for?
“Why are you asking me?” Hayley frowned.
“Weren’t you the one who literally just said ‘are we answering him, or what?’”
Hayley glanced off to the side as if she were a character on The Office silently acknowledging an invisible camera before looking back at you and offering an entirely unapologetic shrug.
“Just…” She waved a hand. “I don’t know. ‘Hey! Thank you, Mr. Munson. How have you been?’ Keep it simple.”
“God, no.” You grimaced. “That sounds so lame.”
“Then why did you ask for my help?” Hayley sighed. “Seriously, though. Why are you freaking out so much?”
You let out a long breath, staring down at the cigarette between your fingers.
“Because–” You grimaced at the memory. “I used to fantasise about marrying him when I was fifteen.”
Hayley blinked at her phone before barking out a laugh so hard it made your speaker crackle.
“Damn. Was he that hot?” she snorted, her face twisting into something between disbelief and amusement. “I wish I’d had hot teachers in high school.”
You rolled your eyes, an exhausted sigh escaping you as you flicked the ash into the sink before reaching for your phone again. Without really thinking about it, you reopened Facebook and tapped the search bar.
The first thing you noticed when you tapped on his name was the ridiculous number of followers underneath his name. The second was the short bio sitting directly beneath it.
No, I won’t teach you how to play Wonderwall.
Your thumb drifted to his profile picture before pinching the screen apart.
“…Jesus Christ,” Hayley whispered. “I feel pregnant just looking at him.”
His hair, now threaded with streaks of dark grey, had been pulled back into a messy ponytail while a few stubborn curls framed the sides of his face. A fitted black t-shirt stretched across broad shoulders, one hand raised in the air with a beer bottle caught between ringed fingers while a cigarette rested carelessly between his smiling lips. The picture had clearly been taken at some backyard barbecue or summer party, all golden evening light and blurry figures in the background, but somehow the camera had still managed to capture the same crooked grin you remembered from high school.
“Imagine how I felt every Thursday when I was going through puberty.”
“Oh, I can imagine.” Hayley leaned so close to her phone that she was practically trying to climb through the screen. “Yeah, no. Don’t send what I told you to send.”
The two of you fell into a comfortable silence while the coffee machine became the only thing filling the room, steadily dripping dark coffee into the glass pot below.
“Okay.” Hayley finally broke the silence. “Just answer what he asked.”
Your teeth found your lower lip as you swiped back to the messenger app.
Hey! Thanks, I had a great birthday :)
Yeah, I did go to
Your thumb froze when three little dots appeared at the bottom of the conversation.
“Oh, no.”
It disappeared almost as quickly as it had appeared, but neither you nor Hayley moved, both of you staring at the screen as though willing it to make up its mind. And then it came back.
“Just send it!” Hayley shrieked.
It took your thumbs another couple of seconds to cooperate, but eventually you managed to finish the message.
Hey! Thanks, I had a great birthday :)
Yeah, I did go to Arizona for a few years! I’m actually back in Indiana now. How have you been?
You hit send.
Then immediately locked your phone and tossed it onto the countertop. The screen was already cracked, one more wouldn’t make much of a difference.
“Hey! Did you just lock your phone?”
“I can’t look at it,” you whispered, grabbing the coffee pot and pouring yourself an entirely unreasonable amount into your mug. “I think I’m having a heart attack.”
The phone buzzed against the countertop, and you froze all over again.
“Oh, God.”
“Did he answer?”
“I think so, yeah.”
“You think so?”
“I don’t know, Hayley! It buzzed!”
Despite every instinct screaming at you not to, you slowly reached for your phone again.
And Eddie’s name was nowhere to be seen on your locked screen. Instead, an Instagram notification of Hayley tagging you in a picture stared back at you.
“Well?”
“No, it was just you tagging me on Instagram.”
“Oh! Did it finally upload?” She tapped at her own screen. “Can you like it and comment? I don’t want it to flop.”
“Jesus Christ,” you muttered under your breath. “Sure, give me a sec.”
You took one last drag of your cigarette before putting it out beneath the running tap, watching the last curl of smoke disappear down the drain. With a quiet sigh, you tapped on the Instagram notification. Contrary to what you’d expected, Hayley had actually posted a cute picture of the two of you.
It had been taken early on in the evening, long before the three dozen shots you’d somehow managed to split between the two of you and a handful of your other friends. Your hair still looked good, your makeup hadn’t yet started melting off your face, and the smile you’d flashed at the camera was an effortless one.
The dress had done your boobs a lot of favours, too, without making it look like you’d been trying too hard.
“…I actually look pretty cute.”
“I know,” Hayley grinned. “I have an eye for these things.”
You double-tapped the picture without hesitation before typic out a quick ugh!!!! i love you!!!! thank you for the best birthday EVA and shared it to your own story for good measure.
The little black box reading Added to story had barely disappeared when another notification slid onto your screen.
Taking advantage of Hayley being too distracted liking and replying to every comment under her new post, you quickly swiped the Messenger notification away before you had the chance to read it and dwell on it and spiral all over again.
Not long after, Hayley mumbled something about hanging up to run a handful of errands she’d been putting off all week, making you promise to keep her updated on what she enthusiastically dubbed your sexy teacher romance – as though there would be any, but you promised anyway.
The second the FaceTime call disconnected, your apartment fell into a deafening silence.
You spent the rest of the afternoon doing everything in your power to pretend Facebook Messenger didn’t exist.
You folded the laundry that had been sitting in the basket for nearly two weeks, watered the plants lining your windowsill, vacuumed the living room, and even answered the handful of work emails you’d been deliberately ignoring since Thursday afternoon.
Every now and then your phone buzzed, and every time your heart leapt into your throat. Eventually, the constant anticipation became so exhausting that you gave up and switched your phone on Do Not Disturb.
By the time evening rolled around, you’d almost convinced yourself you’d stopped thinking about him.
A rerun of Pretty Little Liars played quietly in the background while you curled up on the couch with a blanket draped over your legs, your phone resting lazily in one hand as you absentmindedly scrolled through Instagram.
You’d been at it for nearly ten minutes before remembering the picture Hayley had posted earlier that morning, and curiosity got the better of you.
Tapping on your own profile, you opened your story and swiped up to see who had viewed it and liked it. The usual names filled the list – your mom, Hayley, a few old college friends.
Then your thumb stopped.
@metalmunson
There was no way–
He hadn’t actually searched for you on Instagram, had he?
Before you could second-guess yourself, you tapped on the profile, and your breath caught all over again.
The first thing greeting you was a carousel of photos. The opening picture was a black and white close-up of him onstage, singing into a microphone with a guitar slung over his shoulder. Bright stage lights glowed behind him, silhouetting the familiar outline of his curls, tied back into a ponytail, and a silver earring dangling from one ear.
Jesus. You’d completely forgotten about the collection of earring he’d swap between every other week.
Tapping the picture, you swiped through the rest of the carousel. The remaining photos were a mixture of candid backstage moments, blurry concert shots, and moody, artistic pictures that somehow didn’t feel nearly as pretentious as they probably should have,
His profile wasn’t carefully curated in the slightest. Instead, it was filled with pictures of friends, the occasional beer, ironic mirror selfies captioned with things like am I doing this selfie thing right?, more guitars than any one person reasonably needed to own, and an alarming number of photos of the same scruffy dogs.
Apparently his name was Rocco and he’d been adopted from an animal shelter on one of Eddie’s trips back to his hometown, according to a post from 2021.
A smile tugged at the corner of your mouth as you continued scrolling.
Then your thumb slipped.
Before you had the time to register what had happened, a bright red heart appeared beneath the blurry concert photo posted all the way back in September of 2020.
“No, no, no.”
Your thumb immediately darted towards the heart before hovering uselessly above it. Even if you removed the like, he’d probably already seen the notification.
“…Fuck.”
You let your hand fall into your lap with a defeated groan. Someone needed to put you in a conservatorship immediately and permanently confiscate your phone before you embarrassed yourself any further.
Dragging a hand down the lower half of your face, you stared at the cracked screen in complete disbelief.
It was fine. Everything was fine. He’d liked your picture first. The picture of you and Hayley. The very one where your dress hugged your boobs just enough to make them look fantastic without crossing into trying way too hard territory. That had to count for something, right?
So, really – you were even. Kinda.
But still, a picture from 2020? Seriously?
Your attention drifted to one of the deeper cracks running across your phone screen, silently wondering whether it was possible to simply dissolve into the couch cushions and never resurface.
Then your phone buzzed.
@ metalmunson started following you.
You’d already dug your own grave; you might as well climb in and bury yourself at this point.
And so, with a resigned sigh, you tapped the blue Follow back button.

Description: All Eddie does is talk about you, so the Hellfire boys give him a chance to get closer to you.
Word Count: 1.09K
The Hawkins cafeteria is a plethora of overlapping conversations and occasional shouting. For once, Eddie isn't shouting. He's quiet, and that concerns the shit out of his friends.
"He's never been this quiet…what the hell?" Mike mutters to Dustin. "You think he wants to kill us?"
"Hey, Eddie. What's up? You haven't spoken for five minutes."
"I am bleeding out, Henderson. I've been shot by Cupid's arrow, and I don't plan on pulling it out anytime soon." Eddie says breathlessly.
"He met this girl who's new to Hawkins today. Why the hell would her parents want to move to Hawkins?" Jeff asks.
"Her face can cure world depression all by itself." Eddie says before munching on a pretzel.
"You should ask her to join us. You've got a way with bringing people together." Dustin suggests.
"Oh, no. She'd never talk to me. She's like up here, and I'm in hell."
"Suit yourself. Some guy just might come in and swoop her in because you're too much of a coward." Mike says with a shit eating grin.
"You damn-" Eddie mutters before flicking a walnut at him.
"Ow!"
Eddie's time in his classes have consisted of tapping his pencil against his paper as he thinks about you. He slowly begins to realize that aside from his own fantasies (some innocent, and some not), he's actually curious about you. He wonders what you like to do, what you like to eat, and even what things you don't like.
You give him a reason to come to school, besides trying to pass of course.
The Hellfire boys aren't used to seeing Eddie not bouncing off the walls, and they can tell you've made a mark on him before he's even spoken to you.
"Dude. Just tell her. What's the worst that can happen?" Mike asks.
"Uh, she says no?" Eddie huffs. "Laughs at me, tells me my hair looks funny-"
"You're focusing on your fears, not the logistics. What's she like?"
"I don't really talk to her in our class but she's always answering questions. She's very opinionated and looks at things in this articulate way that an average person wouldn't get from first glance. That's the thing…she's not just an average person. For once? I think she's the only person in a while where I actually care what someone thinks of me."
The whole table goes quiet—a true rarity amongst Hellfire.
"Holy shit." Dustin says in disbelief. "Come on, man. You've got to tell her."
"The only time I've really interacted with her, she asked me for a pencil. I gave it to her, but I froze like an idiot!"
"Any other time?"
"I don't know. I can't exactly pinpoint the way she looks at me. She gets tense, like I scare her."
"Eddie." Dustin deadpans. "She's scared of you, but she asked for a pencil?"
"…Yeah?"
The boys groan in unison.
By the time an entire month came around, Eddie's friends decided they were tired. They're going to invite you to the Hellfire Club meeting tonight.
"Okay, do this quick or else Eddie's going to wonder why we're so late for lunch."
You slam your locker after grabbing a Chemistry book you need for your next period, and you're startled by two boys you've never spoken to before.
"Hi. I'm Dustin, this is Jeff. We're apart of Hellfire Club."
"I've heard. What's it about?"
"Dungeons and Dragons."
"I'm sorry, I've never played."
"It's okay. Our leader Eddie can teach you." Jeff says.
"Well…if there's someone willing, how can I say no?"
"Great! Can you make it to our meet tonight at 7?" Dustin asks.
"You can count on it."
When you walk away, Dustin and Jeff give each other a fist bump.
Eddie sets down the last piece, and plops down into his throne.
"Okay, guys. This meeting shall commence."
"Actually, Eddie. We're missing a person." Dustin says.
"…No we're not?" Eddie says, looking around. "All of you airheads are here."
You open the door, and it closes behind you. "Sorry, I'm late. Traffic sucked. I hope you guy's haven't started."
Eddie looks at you in shock, then slowly looks at the guys. Suddenly, the ceiling is very interesting to them. He turns to you again, already knowing exactly how you knew about the meeting.
"Please milady, sit down." He says.
Jeff gives you his seat directly next to Eddie, and Eddie's trying super hard to control all the feeling of blood rushing to his face and pants.
"The boys here told me you could teach me how to play?"
Eddie turns and looks at them again, and this time the floor is very interesting to them.
"You could say that."
Eddie's taken many risks in his life, but this one takes the cake. He can't remember the last time he was this nervous. He's going to gut these shrimps the second he gets the chance.
At some point in the meeting, he realizes something. You wanted to be here. You don't mind hanging out with them. He eases into his cinematic persona, encapsulating everyone into merging as one.
You're loving every moment of it. Everyone else is just as invested as you are, and it's a feeling everyone should have at least once in their life.
The feeling of belonging—being seen and heard.
Eddie is perceptive. He notices your comfortable body language. How your eyes sparkle in fascination.
He claps his hands together.
"Gentlemen. Miss. I must conclude this week's meeting."
Everyone, including you, groans in unison.
Eddie giggles. "Patience, patience. This too shall pass."
Dustin dramatically halts. "Oh my gosh. I've got to head home right away!"
"You do?" Jeff asks.
In return, Dustin nudges him.
"Oh yeah, you do!"
"I can take you, if-" Eddie offers.
"No, no! I've got to go now!"
Eddie frowns in confusion. You stifle your giggle.
Every one of the boys rushes out of the room.
"…Are they…always like that?"
"I wish I could say no."
You chuckle, looking down at your fingers bashfully.
"Would…would you ever come back?"
You look up from your fingers, silently giving yourself the courage to look into his eyes.
"Would you mind?"
"I don't think you've heard of the 'once you've met Munson, you're stuck with him' rumors." He grins.
"I think I prefer to go by the truth, Eddie."
"Yeah? What do you think of me?"
"I think being stuck with Eddie Munson doesn't seem so bad."
His Adam's apple bobs in his throat when he gulps. You're going to be the death of him.
This was so cute! I love that Eddie is just so captured by reader that the boys can't help but do a little scheming. I can just picture how excited he would get seeing her interested in his greatest hobby and the eagerness to teach. Very sweet!
I was staffing a metal music festival this weekend and an older woman accidentally got knocked over in the pit and a guy scooped her up and carried her out before I even got to them and he was so kind and gentle with her and he had such an Eddie vibe I was like 😳

eddie woke up to the sunlight spilling through the window, a slow gold that slid across the floorboards and crept up the rumpled sheets. he yawned softly, shifting to find a more comfortable angle, and the movement stirred you from sleep—a low, sleepy hum escaping your throat before you even knew you'd made it.
his eyes fluttered open at the sound. the haze of sleep cleared just enough for him to register that you were here, in his bed, your face half-buried in his pillow. something in his chest pulled taut.
“mm. morning," he murmured, his voice rough and low.
"good morning," you mumbled back, not opening your eyes. you nuzzled deeper into the pillow, your breath slow and even.
he watched you for a long moment—longer than he meant to. his gaze traced the curve of your cheek, the way your lashes fanned against your skin, the soft rise and fall of your breathing. the morning light caught the edges of your face, highlighting every small feature he already thought was beautiful, and he felt something warm bloom low in his chest.
he caught himself and cleared his throat.
“so," he said, quiet, "we didn't finish the movie."
you nodded, eyes still closed. "mhm. i knocked out on the couch."
you said it with a hint of sheepishness that made him chuckle. "i know. i tried to be quiet when i snuck away."
a lazy grin spread across his face even though you didn’t see it, boyish and unguarded in the soft light.
"wow. so careless of you," you teased, your voice still thick with sleep. "not even bothering to carry me over to your bed like a gentleman."
he scoffed, but the grin didn't fade—it softened, turned almost tender, even though you couldn't see it. "why?" he asked, voice dropping to something quieter. "why should i have to be a gentleman? it’s my room."
"cause i’m a girl, dumbass. it’s like an unspoken rule."
a sleepy smile tugged at your lips, and the sight of it made his heart stutter. he covered it with a laugh.
"oh, right. 'cause you're too dainty and delicate to sleep on the worn-out couch in my living room, huh?"
his hand found your hair, fingers threading through the mess of it, ruffling gently. you finally opened your eyes, swatting at his hand with a giggle.
“careful. i know jiu-jitsu, y’know.”
eddie’s eyes went wide, a slow grin spreading across his face as the memory surfaced. “oh, shit. yeah—you’ve been taking classes, right? you told me you’d show me some moves.”
you blinked, the haze of sleep parting just enough for confusion to settle in. “oh my god, really? i said that?”
“yeah.” he propped himself up on one elbow, looking down at you with that lopsided smirk that always made your stomach flip. “you said you’d show me your bjj.”
you stared at him. “my what?”
“your bjj,” he repeated, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “your brazilian jiu-jitsu.”
a beat of silence, and then you relaxed, a laugh bubbling out of you. “oh. guess i did.” you stretched your arms above your head, the movement pulling your spaghetti strap tank top up just slightly. “i bet i could show you some moves right now.”
eddie’s eyebrows shot up, amusement flickering in his dark eyes. “right now? in the morning? before breakfast?”
“what’s the matter, eds?” you tilted your head, voice dropping into something teasing and sweet. “too chicken?”
he scoffed, pushing himself upright, the challenge landing exactly where you aimed it. “i’m not chicken. i’m just saying—you’re in my bed, in my room, and you wanna grapple with me first thing in the morning?”
“scared i’ll pin you?” you shot back, sitting up slowly, the sheet pooling around your waist.
his grin turned sharp, playful, his gaze dragging over you in a way that was half challenge, half something else entirely. “sweetheart, i’d like to see you try.”
“so it’s an invitation?”
“it’s a warning.” he leaned in, close enough that you could smell the sleep on his skin, his voice dropping to a murmur. “i don’t go easy on people who threaten me in my own bed.”
your heart stuttered, but you held his gaze, a smile curving your lips. “good. i’d be offended if you did.”
the second the words left your mouth, eddie lunged.
you let out a surprised yelp as he crashed into you, the both of you tumbling back onto the mattress in a tangle of limbs and laughter. the sheets twisted beneath you, and his weight pressed you into the pillows for half a second before you squirmed, hooked a leg around his, and rolled.
he hit the mattress with a grunt, the breath punched out of him. "shit—"
"too slow, eds," you breathed, already scrambling to pin his wrist to the bed.
but eddie was wiry and quick. he twisted beneath you, his hip bucking up hard enough to throw off your balance, and suddenly you were the one on your back again, his knee wedged between your thighs, his hands catching your wrists and pressing them into the pillow on either side of your head.
"who’s slow now, huh?" his voice was rough, his chest heaving against yours. a strand of his hair fell loose, brushing your cheek.
you bucked, trying to throw him off, but he had you pinned good. your breath came fast, a laugh hitching in your throat. "beginner’s luck."
"beginner's—" he laughed, breathless and disbelieving. "nah, this is just talent."
"talent my ass." you twisted your hips, and he made a small, strangled sound as your thigh pressed up between his legs. his grip on your wrists loosened just enough. you shoved, and he went rolling sideways, the two of you grappling across the rumpled sheets in a mess of grunts and half-stifled curses.
"fuck—" he grabbed for your waist, but you were already moving, swinging a leg over his torso and dropping your weight onto his chest. the air left him in a sharp oof.
"gotcha."
he bucked beneath you, strong and stubborn, his hands finding your hips, fingers digging in as he tried to unseat you. "not yet, you don't."
"eddie." you pressed down harder, your thighs squeezing his ribs. his back arched, muscles straining, and you could feel every shift of him beneath you, the heat of his body seeping through the thin fabric of his shirt. "just tap out."
"no."
you grinned, shifting your weight, and his breath stuttered as you bore down, one hand pinning his wrist to the mattress, the other pressing against his chest. "come on, say it."
“n-no, it's not happening."
he twisted again, and you almost lost your grip, your core tightening with the effort of holding him down. your hair fell forward, curtaining both your faces, and for a moment, all you could see were his eyes, dark and glittering and fixed on yours.
"tap," you said, softer now, but no less certain.
he held your gaze. his chest heaved. and then, slowly, his fingers curled against the mattress, and he tapped twice against the sheet.
a triumphant laugh broke out of you. "yes! yes." you flopped forward, your forehead dropping to his sternum, your body still shaking with the exertion. "i told you. i told you."
"okay, okay." his voice was strained, breathless, but there was a smile in it. his chest rose and fell beneath your cheek, his heart hammering hard and fast. "that was... that was pretty good."
"pretty good?" you lifted your head, propping your chin on his chest. "i destroyed you."
"you got lucky."
"i got good."
he snorted, but his hand came up, brushing a strand of hair from your face. his touch lingered, just a beat too long. "alright, hotshot. rematch."
you raised an eyebrow. "you sure you can handle another round? i’d hate to embarrass you twice in one morning."
"embarrass me?" he laughed, sitting up beneath you, and you had to scramble to keep your balance as he shifted. "i'm just warming up, sweetheart."
"mhm." you slid off him, settling onto your knees on the mattress, already rolling your shoulders. "so, same rules?"
"same rules." he mirrored you, his hands coming up in a loose guard, that familiar smirk tugging at his lips. "but this time, i’m not going easy on you."
"aw, you went easy on me?"
"i went gentle. i could’ve—"
you lunged.
but this time, he was ready. he caught your wrist, pivoted, and for a second, you thought he had you. but you dropped your weight, twisted, and wrapped your legs around his torso in a move that had him grunting in surprise.
"what the—"
you locked your ankles, your thighs squeezing tight around his neck, and suddenly he was trapped, his face pressed against the inside of your thigh, his body bent at an awkward angle as you rolled onto your back, pulling him with you.
"it’s triangle choke," you said, voice strained with effort.
his response was muffled. something between a laugh and a groan.
you tightened your legs. his hand came up, slapping weakly at your thigh. once. twice.
"tap?" you asked, breathless.
he tapped again, harder this time, and you loosened your hold, letting him pull his head free. he collapsed beside you, chest heaving, a hand pressed to his face.
"holy shit."
you grinned, rolling onto your side to face him. "see? i’m pretty good.”
he let out a breathless laugh, still catching his wind. "you didn't tell me you could do that."
"figured i’d keep it as a surprise."
he turned his head, looking at you with those big, dark eyes, his cheeks flushed, his hair a wild mess. "well, it definitely worked. that was... i didn't see that coming."
"most people don't." you propped yourself up on one elbow, feeling warm and pleased and a little smug. "you okay down there?"
"define okay." he shifted, clearing his throat, and you noticed the way his gaze dropped to your thighs for half a second before snapping back up. "i think i need a minute."
"from one round?"
"from that round." he sat up slowly, running a hand through his tangled hair. "you’ve been holding out on me."
"i told you i’d show you some moves."
"yeah, but i thought you meant, like... a wristlock or something. not..." he gestured vaguely at his own neck. "not getting put in a headlock by your legs."
you laughed, bright and genuine. "you liked it."
he swallowed. "i didn't say that."
"well, you didn't not say it."
he opened his mouth. closed it. looked away, a grin tugging stubbornly at the corner of his lips. "alright, fine. maybe i liked it. a little."
"just a little?"
he looked back at you, and there was something unguarded in his expression, something that made your stomach flip. "maybe more than a little."
you held his gaze for a long moment, searching his eyes for something you weren't sure you'd find. that look in his eyes was still there, and it made your chest feel tight, so you looked away first.
there was something tense in the air, thick and unsaid. you cleared your throat.
"well, either way, you haven't pinned me down." you tried for teasing, but your voice came out a little quieter than you'd intended.
eddie scoffed, and you could hear the grin in his voice. "that’s 'cause I wasn't trying. if i did try, i would've pinned you down a long time ago."
you rolled your eyes, shaking your head. "yeah, right. you told me you weren't gonna go easy."
"i was joking," he clarified, and there was an edge of sincerity now. "if i did, i’d probably hurt you."
you snorted, not buying it for a second. "sure, eddie."
"don’t 'sure, eddie' me."
"then don't be so full of shit."
“oh, shut up.” he laughed.
“make me.”
so he did.
you two tumbled back onto the mattress, arms tangling, breath coming fast. there just the sound of your ragged breathing, the rustle of sheets, soft curses slipping out as you fought for leverage. his knee dug into the mattress beside your hip. your hand slipped against his forearm, both of you slightly slick with sweat.
then he had you.
he flipped you onto your stomach and pressed his weight down, chest against your back, the side of your face squished into the pillow. his breath was hot against your ear, ragged, triumphant.
"not so tough now, huh?" he was panting. "told you i’d pin you down."
you squirmed, thrashing beneath him, trying to find an angle, a gap, anything. but the movement dragged your ass back against him through his jeans, and he felt that unmistakable pressure.
his breath hitched. "hey—stop."
"i’m trying to get out," you shot back, still writhing.
"then—fuck—try a different way."
you didn't listen. you kept moving, kept twisting, until you heard it—a soft, low groan he couldn't quite swallow.
you froze.
then it clicked.
you went still for a second, letting the realization settle warm in your chest. and then you didn't stop. you moved again, slower this time, more deliberate—rolling your hips back against him with intention.
"jesus," eddie breathed, his voice cracking. his forehead dropped against the back of your shoulder. "you’re gonna kill me."
you didn't let up. you kept moving, slow and lazy, dragging your hips back against him like you were still searching for an escape. your voice came out sweet, breathless, edged with false concern.
"what’s wrong?" you murmured against the pillow. "getting tired, eds?"
he was quiet for a moment, just breathing—shallow, uneven, his chest heaving against your back.
"n-no," he stammered, and you felt his fingers twitch where they gripped your wrist. "i’m not tired. i can—" a sharp inhale as you rolled your hips again. "i can do this all day."
you hummed, a soft, pleased sound. "mm. if you say so."
you shifted beneath him, pretending to search for leverage, but you angled your hips deliberately this time—grinding back against him in a slow, torturous arc. his pelvis met yours, and you felt him through the denim, hot and hard and straining.
his breath stuttered.
"fuck—" it was barely a whisper, punched out of him before he could stop it.
you kept going. kept squirming. kept rolling your hips like you had no idea what you were doing, like this was just part of the game. and he let you. he didn't pull away. didn’t tighten his hold to stop you. he just stayed there, taking it, his breathing growing rougher by the second.
another soft groan escaped him, low and involuntary, vibrating against your spine.
"having fun up there?" you asked, your voice syrupy sweet.
he didn't answer. his jaw was clenched so tight you could almost hear his teeth grinding.
you moved again—slower this time, dragging your hips back in a languid, deliberate roll, letting him feel every inch of the friction. his breath caught. his whole body went rigid.
"okay." his voice was strained, hoarse. "okay, what the fuck kind of strategy is this?"
you blinked, all innocence. "i don't know what you're talking about."
"bullshit." but there was no heat in it. his voice had gone soft, almost wondering. "you know exactly what you're doing."
you turned your head slightly, just enough to catch the edge of his expression from the corner of your eye. his face was close—so close you could feel the warmth radiating off his skin. his brow was furrowed, his lips slightly parted. he looked wrecked.
your stomach flipped.
"i’m just trying to get out," you said, but even you didn't believe it anymore.
eddie’s jaw clenched. he stared down at you, and for a long, heavy moment, he didn't move. didn’t speak.
his mind was racing.
the two of you had always been touching, teasing, pushing boundaries until they blurred. he’d bite your shoulder just to hear you yelp, and you'd retaliate by stealing his shirts and refusing to give them back. sometimes he'd lick your face when you were being annoying, and you'd shove him into walls, laughing. it was easy. it was fun.
but this?
this was different.
he’d been in love with you for so long he couldn't remember when it started. it had crept up on him slow, like sunrise—imperceptible until suddenly everything was golden and warm and he couldn't look away. he’d watched you laugh, watched you get frustrated, watched you fall asleep on his couch with your mouth hanging open. he’d memorized the sound of your footsteps, the way you said his name, the way your hand felt small in his when you weren't paying attention.
and now you were beneath him, grinding against him like you were trying to undo him, and you didn't even know. you were just playing. just trying to win some stupid game.
but for him, this was everything he'd never let himself have.
he swallowed hard.
"you think i give a shit?" his voice came out low, rough, but underneath it—soft. vulnerable in a way he rarely let himself sound. "i don't care if you're trying to get me to tap." his breath hitched as you shifted again. "it’s not—fuck—it's not gonna work."
he held himself still above you, every muscle coiled tight, his forehead nearly pressed to the back of your head.
"i can do this all day," he repeated, but the words came out broken, like he was trying to convince himself more than you.
you should have stopped. you knew you should have stopped. the game had changed, shifted into something heavier, something that made your skin prickle with awareness. but his voice—that soft, rough edge to it—sent a thrill through you that you couldn't name.
so you didn't stop.
you rolled your hips again, slow and deep, and you heard him choke on a breath above you.
"eds," you whispered, and there was no teasing in it now—just curiosity, just heat. "you sure you're okay?"
he let out a breathless laugh, shaky and raw.
"no," he said, his lips brushing the shell of your ear. "i’m really, really not."
the sound of his voice—that broken, breathless confession—settled somewhere deep in your chest, warm and electric. it made you bold. made you reckless.
you moved again.
harder this time. slower, deeper, rolling your hips back against him with deliberate pressure, no longer pretending to search for escape. your body pressed flush against his, the friction sending a shock of heat through your veins. you felt him twitch against you, felt the sharp intake of breath that followed, and something dark and hungry unfurled in your stomach.
a low groan rumbled from his chest. it was guttural, involuntary, the kind of sound that seemed to surprise even him. his forehead dropped to the back of your head, his breath hot and uneven against your hair.
"oh, fuck," he breathed, the words barely audible, more air than sound.
you didn't stop.
you rolled your hips again, slower this time, letting the movement drag out until you could feel every inch of the contact. the denim of his jeans was rough against the thin fabric of your shorts, and the friction was maddening—not enough, never enough, but enough to make your pulse hammer in your throat.
his hands were still on your wrists, but his grip had gone slack. he wasn't holding you anymore. he was just... there. braces above you, trembling, his whole body taut as a drawn bowstring.
another roll of your hips. slower. harder.
his breath stuttered. a soft, broken sound escaped his lips—half groan, half whimper—and it sent a jolt straight through you. you felt it in your chest, in your stomach, in the space between your thighs. your skin flushed hot, your own breathing growing shallow.
you hadn't expected this. hadn’t expected him to sound like that. hadn’t expected the way it would make you feel—powerful, yeah, but also desperate. hungry in a way you didn't have words for.
you arched your back slightly, pressing your hips more firmly against him, and the sound he made in response was almost too much. a strained, shuddering exhale that turned into a low, guttural moan. his hips twitched involuntarily, pressing back against you, and you felt the hard length of him through the layers of fabric.
he was losing control.
you could feel it in the way his breathing had gone ragged, in the way his body shuddered against yours, in the way his fingers curled weakly around your wrists like he was holding on to the last shred of his composure.
you moved again—a slow, grinding circle of your hips that made his breath catch and then release in a shaky, desperate groan.
"jesus christ," he whispered, the word cracking at the edges. his voice was wrecked. hoarse. barely recognizable.
your body responded before your mind could catch up. a soft, breathy sound escaped your lips, and you felt your cheeks flush with heat. you were getting wet. you could feel it—a slick, growing warmth between your thighs that made the friction of your movements even more maddening.
you wanted more.
you shifted your hips, angling yourself differently, and when you rolled back against him this time, the pressure was perfect. the seam of your shorts pressed against you just right, and a small gasp escaped your lips.
eddie heard it.
his whole body went still for a moment, and then he let out a sound that was almost wounded—a low, desperate groan that vibrated through his chest and into your back. his hips moved against yours, grinding back in a slow, instinctual rhythm, and the feeling of him moving with you sent a shudder through your entire body.
your breath came faster now. your skin was hot, flushed, sensitive to every brush of fabric, every shift of his weight above you. you could feel the heat of his body radiating against your back, could smell the faint, familiar scent of him—cigarette smoke and worn leather and something warmer underneath.
his mouth found the curve of your shoulder.
it was tentative at first, just the brush of his lips against your skin, featherlight. but then you rolled your hips again, and his breath hitched, and his lips parted. his mouth pressed open against your shoulder, hot and wet, and you felt the faint graze of his teeth.
a shiver ran through you.
he did it again—his lips dragging across your skin, his breath hot and uneven. his hips moved with yours now, matching your rhythm, grinding against you in a slow, torturous push and pull that made your head spin.
his breathing was loud in your ear, ragged and uneven, punctuated by soft, helpless sounds that he couldn't seem to suppress. a groan here. a shuddering exhale there. a whispered curse that dissolved into a moan as you pressed back against him harder.
you were both moving now. no pretense. no game. just the slow, grinding rhythm of your bodies, the heat building between you, the sounds of his breathing filling the quiet room.
his hand moved.
it happened slowly—his fingers loosening around your wrist, sliding down your arm, trailing across your skin with a featherlight touch that made you shiver. his palm came to rest on your hip, his fingers curling against the curve of your waist.
he didn't pull you. didn’t guide you. he just... held you. like he needed something to hold onto.
his thumb traced a slow, absent circle against your hip bone, and the tenderness of the gesture, in the midst of all this heat, made your breath catch.
he pressed his forehead to the back of your head again, his breathing ragged, his body shuddering against yours.
"fuck," he breathed again, the word barely audible, wrecked and raw and reverent all at once.
you rolled your hips in response, slow and deep, and felt his whole body tense. his fingers dug into your hip, his breath caught in his throat, and a low, shuddering moan escaped him—longer than the others, more desperate, more broken.
he was completely lost in you.
and the sound of it—the feeling of him falling apart against you—was turning you on more than you had ever expected.
the shift in rhythm was subtle at first—a slight increase in the roll of your hips, a little more pressure as you ground back against him. but eddie felt it immediately. his breath stuttered, a soft, strangled sound catching in his throat.
you did it again. faster this time. harder.
his hips jerked in response, meeting your movements with a desperate, uncoordinated thrust. his hands found your hips, fingers digging into the soft flesh, holding on like you were the only thing keeping him tethered to earth.
"god," he breathed, the word barely a whisper, lost in the space between your bodies.
you moved faster. harder. the rhythm of your hips grew urgent, driven by something primal and hungry that coiled low in your stomach. the friction was maddening—rough denim and thin cotton, the heat of his body searing through the layers, the sound of his ragged breathing filling the room.
his eyes were shut.
you could feel it in the way his body moved against yours—blind, instinctual, lost. his brow was pressed to the back of your head, his lips parted, his breath hot and uneven against your scalp. his mind was blank. empty of everything except the feeling of you moving against him.
god, she feels so good.
the thought surfaced and drowned in the heat flooding his senses. he couldn't think. couldn’t form words. all he could do was feel—the slow, torturous grind of your hips, the soft sounds you made, the way your body fit against his like it was made for him.
he had imagined this before. late at night, alone in his van, when his mind wandered to places it shouldn't. he had pictured your hands on him, your mouth, your body pressed against his. but he had never let himself believe it could actually happen. you were too good for him. too bright. too far out of his reach.
but you were here. moving against him. making him feel things he didn't have words for.
and he was in love with you.
the thought hit him like a freight train, sharp and undeniable, and it made everything worse. made the ache deeper. made the heat in his blood burn hotter. because it wasn't just physical—it had never been just physical. every roll of your hips, every soft sound you made, every brush of your skin against his—it all meant something more to him.
his breathing grew ragged. shallow. his chest heaved against your back, and a low, desperate groan escaped his lips—louder than before, raw and unguarded.
your hips moved faster, grinding harder, and he felt himself losing the last thread of control.
“fuck," he gasped, the word cracking. "fuck, sweetheart—"
his hips bucked against you, chasing the friction, chasing the heat. his fingers dug into your hips hard enough to bruise, and he couldn't bring himself to care. all he could think about was you. the way you felt. the way you moved. the way you were unraveling him piece by piece.
i’m gonna—
the thought came too late.
his body tensed. his breath caught. and then it hit him—a wave of heat that crashed through him without warning, pulling a loud, broken moan from his lips. his hips jerked against you once, twice, as he spilled into his jeans, the release sudden and overwhelming and completely beyond his control.
he gasped. panted. his body shuddered through the aftershocks, his forehead pressed hard against the back of your head, his hands trembling against your hips.
for a long moment, neither of you moved.
the only sound was his ragged breathing, loud in the quiet room, slowly evening out as the haze began to clear.
then his lips found your shoulder again.
soft, open-mouthed kisses, warm and trembling, trailing across your skin. he wasn't thinking. he was just... feeling. trying to ground himself. trying to remember how to breathe. his lips pressed against the curve of your shoulder, the slope of your neck, slow and reverent, like he was memorizing the taste of your skin.
but then you moved.
in a flash, you twisted beneath him, your body rolling with sudden, fluid grace. he barely had time to register the shift before you were on top of him, your knees bracketing his hips, your hands pressing his shoulders down against the mattress.
he stared up at you, wide-eyed, chest still heaving. a beat of silence. then a low, breathless laugh escaped his lips.
"you’re kidding me," he said, his voice still wrecked, still rough around the edges.
you pressed down harder, and he groaned—a soft, defeated sound that melted into another laugh.
"fine. fine." he raised his hands, palms open, and tapped twice against the mattress. "i tap. you win. congratulations, you defeated me, you little shit."
a grin spread across your face, bright and victorious. but there was a glint in your eyes. a question.
"did you just... come in your pants?"
his face flushed red.
he let his head fall back against the pillow, one hand dragging down his face.
"jesus christ," he muttered, his voice muffled behind his palm.
you raised an eyebrow, waiting.
he groaned. long and dramatic and full of self-pity. then he let his hand drop, staring up at the ceiling like he was praying for the floor to swallow him whole.
"yeah," he said, the word clipped and frustrated. "yeah, i did. i fucking came in my pants. you happy now?"
a laugh bubbled out of you—bright and genuine, not mocking, but warm. surprised.
"i didn't even do that much," you said, your voice teasing, but soft.
eddie’s eyes finally met yours. there was something in them—something raw and unguarded, something that made your laughter fade at the edges.
"yeah," he said quietly. "you did."
the words hung in the air between you, heavier than they should have been. he meant more than he was saying. you could feel it in the way his gaze held yours, in the way his chest was still rising and falling too fast, in the way his hands had come to rest on your thighs—not pushing, not pulling. just... holding.
but you laughed it off, shaking your head, rolling your eyes with playful affection.
"guess i’m just that good."
the grin returned to his face, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. he was still looking at you like you were something he couldn't quite believe was real.
"yeah," he said again, softer this time. "i guess you are."
eddie’s eyes searched yours.
he told himself he was just looking. that he was just waiting for your next move, reading your body language, trying to figure out what you were going to do next. that’s all it was. just strategy.
but it wasn't.
he was looking for something else. some flicker of warmth, some crack in the playful facade that would tell him you felt even a fraction of what he felt. some sign that this meant more to you than just a game. some hint that you saw him—not just eddie the freak, not just eddie the dealer, not just eddie the guy who was convenient and willing and pressed against you in the morning.
but there was nothing.
your eyes were bright with mischief, sparkling with the thrill of the chase, the satisfaction of winning. there was heat there, sure—a lazy, satisfied kind of desire that told him you were enjoying this. but it was surface-level. fun. a game you were playing because you could, because he was letting you, because it was easy and exciting and meant nothing the next day.
something in his chest cracked, just a little.
he looked away.
the ceiling was suddenly very interesting. water stains. a crack running from the corner to the light fixture. he focused on that instead of the weight of you on his hips, the warmth of your thighs bracketing his waist, the way his heart was pounding in his throat.
"wasn’t fair though," he said, forcing his voice into something lighter, something that sounded like him. "you grinding your ass up against me like that. pretty sure it's cheating."
you rolled your eyes, and he could feel the movement, could feel the shift of your weight as you adjusted above him. "i still won. plus you weren't really in a rush to stop me."
he snorted. "yeah, well. i was being polite. didn’t wanna hurt your feelings."
"uh huh. very chivalrous of you."
"i am a gentleman."
"you came in your pants."
"gentleman," he repeated, louder, and you laughed.
the sound did something to him. made the crack in his chest spread a little wider. he wanted to bottle it. keep it. listen to it on repeat in the lonely hours of the night when he was alone in his van, staring at the ceiling, wondering what the hell he was doing with his life.
but he didn't say that. he just grinned, letting the banter carry him, letting it be enough.
"rematch," you said, and before he could respond, you were moving.
this time, you were faster. smarter. you caught him off guard, your body twisting with practiced ease, and suddenly your legs were around his head again, your thighs pressing against his ears, and he was trapped.
"jesus christ—"
he struggled, but half-heartedly. his hands came up to grip your thighs, but he wasn't pushing. he was holding. his breath was warm against the inside of your leg, and he could feel the heat of you through your shorts, could smell the faint scent of your skin, could feel the way your body settled against his with comfortable familiarity.
but you didn't stop there.
you shifted. adjusted. your hips lowered, and suddenly you were positioned differently—not just holding him, but using him. your weight settled lower, and he felt the damp spot there, still cooling, still embarrassing.
your mouth found it.
"oh, fuckkk—"
he groaned, loud and broken, his hips bucking up instinctively as your lips pressed against the wet denim. the fabric was rough against your mouth, but beneath it, he was sensitive, aching, still trembling from the aftershocks of his release.
"fuck, this again?" he gasped, his voice muffled between your thighs.
you paused, just barely. your lips ghosted over the damp spot, and he could feel your smile against the denim.
"want me to stop?"
he knew what you were doing. you were giving him an out. a chance to say no, to retreat, to save whatever shred of dignity he had left.
but he didn't want an out.
he wanted you.
“no," he said, the word coming out rough and desperate. "don’t—don't stop."
your hands found the button of his jeans. the zipper. the sound of it lowering was loud in the quiet room, and eddie’s breath caught in his throat. he stared up at the ceiling, at the water stains, at the crack in the corner, and tried to remember how to breathe.
you pulled the denim open. his boxers were visible now—dark blue, damp in the center, clinging to him. he was half-hard again, stirred by the friction, by the heat of your mouth through the fabric, by the sheer overwhelming reality of you.
your tongue touched him through the cotton.
he moaned—a sound he couldn't control, couldn't hold back, couldn't disguise. it was raw and desperate and full of everything he was trying not to feel.
his hands found your thighs again, gripping tight, and he squeezed his eyes shut.
the wet heat of your mouth through the thin fabric. the slow, deliberate drag of your tongue along his length. the way you explored him like he was something to be savored, something to be learned. the way your breath ghosted over him between licks, cooling the spots where your mouth had been. you were basically cleaning up his release.
his chest rose and fell in uneven rhythms, his breath coming in short, sharp gasps. his hands trembled against your thighs, and he couldn't tell if he was trying to push you away or pull you closer.
"f-fuck," he stammered, his voice cracking. "do whatever you want to me. i’m still not gonna t-tap again."
you laughed against him—a soft, warm sound that vibrated through the cotton and made his hips jerk.
"we’ll see about that," you murmured. “you’re pretty easy to manipulate.”
eddie groaned softly as you licked him again. “s-shit, can you just put it in your mouth already?”
you hummed against him. “that’s not something a gentleman would say, eds.”
“i don’t care,” he panted. “just… please. just put my cock in your pretty mouth, please. instead of just… eating the come while you clean me off.”
you paused, a small smile forming at your lips. “you think my mouth’s pretty?”
he swallowed hard, realizing he had to be careful with his words if he was gonna keep this up.
“y-yeah. i think you’re pretty,” he failed immediately. “whatever. come on, just suck my—“
and then your fingers hooked into the waistband of his boxers.
he lifted his hips without thinking, helping you, letting you. the fabric slid down, and then he was exposed—hard and aching and damp with his own want. the air was cool against his skin, but your mouth was warm, and when you kissed him there—soft, almost tender—he thought he might die.
"fuck," he breathed, the word barely a whisper.
you kissed him again. slower this time. your lips pressed against the head of his cock, gentle and deliberate, like you had all the time in the world. like you wanted to memorize the shape of him, the taste of him, the way he gasped and trembled beneath you.
and then your tongue.
a slow, flat stroke from base to tip, and his whole body arched. a desperate, broken sound tore from his throat, and his fingers dug into your thighs hard enough to leave marks.
you gave him more.
your mouth closed around him, warm and wet and perfect, and he felt his mind go blank. there was nothing but you—the feel of your lips, the stroke of your tongue, the way your throat relaxed to take him deeper. his hands slid from your thighs to your hair, fingers threading through the strands, not pulling, just... holding.
he was panting. moaning. muttering your name like a prayer, like a plea, like a confession.
"god, you—" his voice broke. "you feel so good.”
suddenly an idea popped into eddie’s head.
he arched his back deliberately, letting out a guttural moan that echoed through the small bedroom.
“fuuuuck, sweetheart. just like that. you’re gonna make me come again. right in that pretty mouth of yours—god..." his words were calculated, designed to throw you off your game while his hands gripped your thighs tighter.
you continued your work, taking him deeper as your tongue swirled around the sensitive head. your own arousal was building from the power dynamic, from having him completely at your mercy beneath you. but you weren't expecting what happened next.
the moment your mouth finally released him with a soft pop, replacing it with your hand stroking his length firmly, eddie moved. fast and decisive. in one fluid motion, he flipped both of you over, breaking free from your triangle hold with surprising strength fueled by adrenaline and arousal.
before you could process what was happening, you found yourself bent over his knee, your stomach pressed against his thigh, your ass raised high in the air. your hands braced against the mattress, steadying yourself as shock rippled through your body.
"what the fuck, eds—"
"yeah, right," eddie growled, his voice dripping with dark amusement as he positioned himself behind you. one strong arm wrapped around your waist, holding you securely in place while his other hand hooked into the waistband of your shorts. "thought you were gonna get me again, huh?" he yanked your shorts down roughly, the fabric sliding past your hips and pooling around your knees along with your panties, leaving your lower half completely exposed to him.
his eyes darkened as he took in the sight before him—the curve of your ass, the glisten of moisture coating your inner thighs, the way your body trembled with anticipation and surprise. "holy shit," he breathed, his hand trailing possessively over the smooth skin of your rear. "look at you. all that just from teasing me, huh?"
"you’re such a good little slut for me, aren't you?" his thumb circled your entrance teasingly, feeling how wet you actually were. a low groan escaped him at the discovery. "this is what you wanted, wasn't it? to get me so worked up i couldn't think straight?"
the sharp crack of his palm against your bare flesh sent a jolt of sensation racing up your spine. you gasped, your fingers curling tightly into the rumpled sheets beneath you as the sting bloomed across your skin. a full-bodied shudder ran through you, and you whimpered—a sound that was equal parts pain and desperate need.
"eddie..."
hearing his name on your lips did something to him. something beyond the physical. the sight of you bent over his knee, your back arching involuntarily, your thighs trembling, your skin flushed pink wherever he'd touched—it hit him somewhere deep. like a punch directly to his heart.
"yeah? you like that, sweet girl?" his voice was rough and low, vibrating with barely restrained desire. his thumb traced slow circles over the reddened spot on your ass, soothing and tormenting in equal measure. "if you tap, i’ll play with you. i’ll make you feel reeealll good, i promise."
he gave you a moment to consider it. his hand rested warm and heavy on your hip, his fingers digging in just enough to remind you exactly who was in control now.
but you didn't tap.
of course you didn't. because you were competitive. because tapping meant admitting defeat. and you'd rather burn than give him the satisfaction.
eddie noticed. a slow, knowing grin spread across his face as he read your silence loud and clear.
"that’s what i thought," he murmured, his voice dropping into something darker. possessive. "my stubborn girl."
his hand lifted, hovering in the air for one agonizing second—letting you anticipate, letting the anticipation build to almost unbearable levels—before his palm came down again with a firm, resounding smack against your other cheek.
"ah—!" the moan tore from your throat before you could stop it. your hips bucked involuntarily, pushing back against him in a way that was entirely contradictory to your attempt at maintaining composure. your walls clenched around nothing, your body betraying every ounce of defiance your mind was trying to cling to.
"there we go," eddie praised, his voice thick with satisfaction. his free hand slid between your legs, his fingers parting your slick folds with ease.
the sensation of his finger dipping into your heat was overwhelming, a sudden intrusion that made your breath hitch violently. he didn't rush; instead, he used his fingertip to circle your entrance, dragging through the thick, honeyed slickness he’d already observed. the sound of his movements—the wet, rhythmic sliding of skin against skin—was deafening in the quiet of the trailer.
"god, look at you," eddie groaned, his voice cracking with a primal sort of hunger. “you're fucking drowning in it, sweetheart. absolutely soaked. every time i touch you, you just... you melt."
he pushed a single finger inside, testing your tightness, and you let out a broken, high-pitched whimper that sounded nothing like your usual self. you tried to keep your jaw clenched, tried to maintain some semblance of that stubborn pride, but your body was a traitor. your hips were practically begging for him to fill the void, tilting back toward him instinctively.
"all you gotta do is tap, sweetheart," he whispered, “just one little tap and i’ll play with you. i’ll give you exactly what you’re aching for. you think i don’t know how much you want this? i’ve known you for so long, i’ve picked up a thing or two about what makes you lose your mind."
he pulled his finger out almost entirely, only to drive it back in deeper, pushing past the initial resistance until he hit that sweet spot that made your eyes roll back in your head.
"mmmgh—eddie, please—"
“please what?" he mocked softly, though his breathing was coming in ragged, heavy bursts now. he was losing his own battle with control, his cock twitching rhythmically. "tell me what you want. tell me you can't take it anymore. tell me you're ready to tap."
despite the mounting tension, you still didn't tap. you clung to the sheets, your knuckles white, your breath coming in short, jagged gasps as you fought the urge to give in.
eddie let out a low, dark chuckle. "still no, huh? you’re really going to make me edge you? it’s just one little tap, baby."
the nickname hit you like a physical wave. the word 'baby'—spoken in that specific, low register—sent a jolt of electricity straight to your core, causing your internal muscles to clench tightly around his fingers. eddie groaned softly as he felt the sudden, desperate grip of your walls. it turned him on viciously, but it also made his heart clench with an intensity that terrified him. the raw intimacy of it, the way you reacted to him, made him want to make you feel good.
"yeah, you like it when i call you that, baby? fuck, you look so pretty like this. come here."
he shifted his weight, leaning over you more aggressively. he didn't let go of your heat, but he reached around, pressing his thumb firmly against your lips. you didn't hesitate; you leaned into it, sucking on his thumb with a desperate hunger, your whimpers muffled and wet against his skin.
"yeah, suck on that, sweet girl. drool on it if you want to," he groaned, his voice sounding strained, almost pained. "just take it. take everything i’ve got."
his fingers inside you shifted gears, moving from a slow tease to a rough, demanding pace. he was driving into you now, hitting that precise spot over and over again, pushing you closer and closer to the edge of a cliff. he could feel your body shaking, your breath hitching in a way that told him you were seconds away from shattering.
eddie pulled his thumb from your mouth. before you could even gasp for air, he slid his hand down, pressing that same thumb directly onto your swollen, hypersensitive clit. he began to rub in a fast, relentless rhythm, perfectly synchronized with the rough pace of his fingers inside you.
the dual stimulation was too much. your head snapped back, a loud, broken cry escaping your throat as the world dissolved into white noise and pure, blinding pleasure.
as waves of pleasure crashed over you, eddie kept up the relentless pressure. his fingers curled inside you, grinding against that perfect spot while his thumb circled your clit in tight, deliberate motions that had you seeing stars.
“come on, baby, you're so close, aren't you?" he taunted, his voice a mix of dark amusement and genuine wonder. he leaned down, pressing his forehead against your shoulder blade, breathing heavily. "so fucking close to coming, huh? your wet, sloppy pussy's just aching to come, yeah? not until you tap though."
he punctuated his words with another sharp slap to your ass. the sting shot through the pleasure, intensifying it to an almost painful degree. you cried out, your whole body convulsing as a second orgasm threatened to tear you apart.
"c’mon, tap. i tapped for you earlier, baby," he murmured, his voice shifting into something sweeter, almost tender despite the cruel teasing. his thumb slowed its rhythm, becoming gentler as he coaxed you. "don’t you want to come? don’t you want to come for me?"
he knew you were fighting it. could feel the tension in your muscles as you battled against your own body's demands. it was infuriating and beautiful all at once. his heart swelled with something far deeper than simple lust.
"just one tap, sweetheart. give in. let me win this round," he whispered, his lips brushing against your ear.
“please... eddie... please, i can't..." you managed to choke out, your voice cracking. you tried to pull away, to find some relief, but his hand on your hip was an anchor, keeping you pinned exactly where he wanted you. "let me... just let me come, please!"
eddie’s grip tightened. he didn't relent; if anything, he increased the pressure, his fingers curling deeper, driving into you with a newfound, predatory urgency.
"no, baby, not yet," he purred, the teasing sweetness still there mixed with raw, commanding hunger. "don’t fucking come until i tell you to. you gotta tap."
"you’re... you're such a dick!" you sobbed out, a mixture of a laugh and a cry. you hated how much you loved this. you hated that even through the haze of ecstasy, your pride was still standing, stubborn and ridiculous. "fuck, i hate you, eddie!"
"yeah? you hate me?" his thumb worked your clit with a frantic, punishing speed that made your hips buck uncontrollably. "is that right? no, you don't hate me, sweetheart. you love—“ he paused. “…this. you love being told what to do by me, don’t you?”
he leaned down, his teeth grazing the nape of your neck, leaving a mark that made you whimper.
"yeah? you’d rather i just edge you like that?" he taunted, his voice dropping into a dangerous, low register that sent a fresh chill of arousal down your spine. "just drill that fucking pussy with my fingers? is that what you want? guess i should just fuck you then, huh? i’ll flip you over, pin you down, and pound you until you can't even remember your own name, let alone how to be stubborn."
the mental image was too much. your breath hitched, your lungs feeling too small for the air you were trying to pull in.
eddie’s gaze was unwavering; he watched every tremor of your muscles, every frantic roll of your eyes, looking for any sign of surrender. but even as his lust burned white-hot, a deep, aching pang of longing throbbed in his chest. he didn't just want to conquer your body. he wanted to pull you into his arms and kiss you until neither of you could breathe, to tell you everything he had been hiding behind jokes and hair-ruffling for years.
“yeah," he breathed, his voice a jagged edge of desire. "i’m gonna pump that pussy full of come. is that what you want, baby? to feel me inside you, filling you up?"
you were a broken, moaning mess. your protests had dissolved into incoherent pleas, your pride finally buckling under the sheer weight of the sensation. you were hovering on the precipice, your entire being vibrating with the need to shatter, but eddie was a master of torment. every time you reached for the peak, he shifted his rhythm, pulling back just enough to leave you gasping and empty.
suddenly, the friction stopped. the sudden absence of his fingers felt like a physical wound.
before you could even find your breath to protest, eddie moved. with a surge of strength that caught you off guard, he gripped your hips and flipped you over. you landed hard against the mattress, your legs falling open instinctively, your chest heaving as you stared up at him through a veil of damp hair.
he didn't care about the game anymore. the competition, the tapping, the teasing—it had all been burned away by a sudden, primal necessity. he needed to be in you.
eddie hovered over you, his eyes dark and hooded, looking like a man possessed. he guided himself to your entrance, the tip of his cock brushing against your slick, swollen folds. he paused for a heartbeat, his muscles trembling with the effort of restraint.
then, with one heavy, decisive thrust, he drove himself home.
"oh god—oh god, fuck," he groaned, the sound tearing from his lungs as he buried himself deep within you. the sensation of your tight, pulsing heat swallowing him whole was almost more than he could bear.
your hand immediately found his arm, fingers digging into the taut muscle of his bicep as you tilted your head back against the pillow. the sensation of him stretching you, filling you completely, sent sparks cascading behind your eyelids. a raw, guttural moan escaped your lips, his name tumbling from them without thought.
"oh fuck, eddie, you feel so good..."
the praise hit him like a freight train. his cock twitched inside you, swelling thicker as a shudder rolled through his entire body. the way you looked beneath him—eyes half-lidded, lips parted, cheeks flushed crimson, your nails leaving crescent marks in his skin—it was beautiful. devastating. everything he'd ever wanted and more.
it wasn't just the sex; it was the fact that it was you. hearing you worship him, feeling your hands clinging to him like he was the only thing keeping you tethered to the earth, sent a wave of possessive, overwhelming love through him.
"yeah?" he panted, his hips finding a slow, rolling rhythm as he settled into the depth of you. "that feel good for you, baby? take that cock, sweet girl, take it all in." his voice was reverent, almost worshipful, despite the crude words. one hand slid under your lower back, arching you slightly, changing the angle just enough to make you gasp.
he began to move. slowly at first, savoring the feel of you wrapped around him like a glove, then gradually building momentum. each thrust was deliberate, deep, pushing to the hilt before withdrawing almost all the way, only to slam back inside with a force that made the bed creak in protest. the wet, obscene sounds of their bodies meeting filled the trailer alongside your cries.
"hold onto me," he grunted, his pace quickening. "don’t let go, okay? not... not ever."
your legs wrapped around him, pulling him deeper, and eddie’s control fractured further. he buried his face against your neck, breathing you in while kissing at the skin—taking in the scent of sweat mixed with your perfume—as his hips pistoned into you with increasing desperation.
"i’m not gonna last," he admitted as he pulled back, his voice cracking. "not without you. come with me, baby, please. you’ve been so good. you can come now."
as your moans grew louder, more desperate, eddie’s gaze flickered downward. for a split second, he looked at your lips—swollen and parted and glistening—and something in his expression shifted. raw vulnerability flickered across his features before he masked it with another thrust.
you noticed.
"what, y-you wanna—fuck—kiss me, eds?"
you couldn't help yourself. even now, even with his cock driving into you and your entire world dissolving into sensation, you had to tease him. had to push him just a little further.
he swallowed hard, his gaze never leaving yours. he saw the desire, the need reflected in your eyes, and suddenly, the longing that had been building beneath the physical urgency erupted. it was a desperate bid to bridge the gap between the physical act and the soul-deep connection he craved.
he closed the distance in an instant. his mouth crashed onto yours—deep, messy, and passionate. it was hungry, a furious expression of every moment of wanting, every unspoken feeling that had coiled inside him for so long. he kissed you with the ferocity of a man who was pouring every ounce of his love and longing into that kiss, trying to communicate everything he couldn't say aloud.
your initial surprise melted away instantly, replaced by a reciprocal fire.
as you met his mouth with a desperate, frantic hunger, your movements were driven by the sheer, overwhelming sensation of him—the friction, the heat, the primal urge to feel more, to lose yourself in the pleasure he was providing. you were chasing the peak, riding the wave of physical ecstasy that threatened to drown you.
but eddie... eddie was somewhere else entirely. every time his lips pressed against yours, it wasn't just about the sensation; it was almost like a prayer. he was trying to anchor himself to you even as the world blurred around the edges.
he broke the kiss, his breath coming in ragged, uneven hitches. his lips migrated from your mouth to your jawline, trailing hot, wet kisses down to the sensitive dip of your neck. his nipped at your skin, his teeth grazing you just enough to make you arch your back, his hands gripping your hips like he was afraid you might vanish if he let go.
"come on, baby... come on my cock," he groaned against your skin, his voice a low, gravelly vibration that thrummed through your entire body. he found your clit again, his thumb working with a rhythmic, punishing precision that sent sparks flying behind your eyelids. "i got you, i got you. fuck, you look so pretty... you look so fucking beautiful..."
the praise, delivered with such raw, unadulterated devotion, was the final catalyst. your world fractured. a sharp, high-pitched cry escaped your throat as your muscles convulsed around him, the orgasm crashing over you in violent, delicious waves.
eddie let out a low, guttural groan, his forehead dropping against your shoulder as he felt you tremble beneath him. he didn't slow down; if anything, the feeling of you tightening around him drove him closer to the edge. "oh, fuck... atta girl. atta girl, you did so good," he murmured, his voice thick with pride and adoration. he peppered your neck with frantic, soothing kisses, trying to steady you even as his own control began to disintegrate.
his body continued its relentless, insistent rhythm, each thrust a testament to the building storm within him. his words were a low, husky promise, his voice scraping against your skin like a gentle rasp. "oh, i’m gonna come... gonna come inside you, baby, you want it? you want me to come in that wet little cunt of yours?"
your response was a desperate, whimpish nod, your voice barely audible over the thrumming of your pulse. "yeah, eds, i want it. give it to me." the words were a siren's call, beckoning him closer to the edge.
and then, in an instant, he was over it. a low, breathless groan escaped his lips as he came hard inside you, his body locking up in a spasm of release. soft curses and a string of muttered oaths accompanied the violent, shuddering convulsions of his climax.
“f-fuck, oh god, yeah…”
as you both panted, struggling to catch your breath, his gaze met yours in a fleeting, shining moment. his eyes were dark, his pupils blown wide with the aftermath of his orgasm, but beneath the haze of pleasure, a glimmer of something else lingered. something that looked almost like hope.
he kissed your shoulder as he leaned down, his lips tracing a soft, comforting path along the delicate curve of your skin. his hand rose to your hip, resting there lightly as if anchored to your very existence.
then your hand moved up to tangle itself in his damp curls, fingers threading through the long, wavy strands with a gentleness that made his heart ache.
to eddie, that gesture was everything. that simple, innocent touch told him more than any confession ever could. for one fragile, suspended moment, he allowed himself to believe—that maybe, just maybe, you saw him differently. that the connection he felt wasn't just one-sided.
but he knew better.
"come here," he whispered, his voice hoarse and tender. he tilted your chin up with careful fingers, guiding your lips toward his. the second kiss was a revelation compared to the first. softer. slower. still carrying the embers of the previous passion, but burning with something deeper—something patient and aching and brave all at once. his lips moved against yours with a reverence that bordered on worship, savoring every millimeter of contact.
you hummed against his mouth, and the sound made his chest tighten painfully.
he kissed you until neither of you could breathe, and then he kissed you some more.
but as you pulled back, a soft giggle slipped from your lips. eddie smiled softly, brushing your hair away from your face. “what?”
you shook your head, still a little breathless. “nothing. just… didn’t expect us to become fuck buddies, i guess.”
your words landed like a knife between his ribs. fuck buddies. two words that reduced everything he'd just experienced—the emotional nakedness, the quiet desperation in his own kisses—to something casual.
like it was something transactional
he kept his expression carefully neutral, but the muscle in his jaw tightened. he looked away, staring at the wall of his cramped bedroom as if it contained the answers to questions he was too afraid to ask. his thumb traced an absent circle against your hip, the motion mechanical now rather than intentional.
"yeah, me neither," he said quietly. too quietly. the words carried far less weight than the silence that surrounded them.
he expected this to happen, but it still pained him to hear how casual you were about it. he felt like an idiot for even letting himself hope.
you laughed lightly, and he forced a small smile, still not meeting your eyes. he could feel the shift between them—a subtle, imperceptible cooling, like a cloud passing over the sun. you probably didn't notice it. or maybe you did and simply didn't care.
he cleared his throat, disentangling himself slowly. the loss of contact was immediate and acute—like a phantom limb, he felt the absence of your warmth against his skin with painful clarity. he sat up on the edge of the bed, running a hand through his disheveled curls, trying to collect himself.
"so," he started, his voice settling back into its usual easy cadence—but something underneath it had shifted. a guard going back up. walls rebuilding brick by brick. "guess we should, uh... probably get breakfast or something."
he stood, stretching his tall frame, deliberately keeping his back turned to you. he needed a moment to compose himself—to push down the ache that was blooming in his chest like a bruise turning purple. he grabbed his boxers from the floor and pulled them on, the mundane act helping to ground him back in reality.
it’s fine. it’s just sex. just because you caught feelings doesn't mean she owes you anything.
he glanced over his shoulder, forcing that signature lazy grin. "unless you wanna stay in bed all day. i’m not complaining either way." the joke fell flat in his own ears, and he hoped you didn't hear it.
you didn't notice the flicker of pain in his eyes or the way his smile didn't quite reach them. as he sat back down, you simply leaned in, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to the back of his shoulder. to you, it was a sweet gesture of affection; to eddie, it was a gentle twist of a knife, a reminder of how effortless this was for you while he was drowning in it.
“can’t. i gotta get home soon or my parents will freak,” you said, your voice light and cheerful. you stood up, grabbing your panties and shorts from the floor and tugging them on with a casualness that made his heart sink. eddie sat there, frozen, watching you with a longing so profound it felt physical. he traced the line of your silhouette, memorizing the way you looked in the morning light, knowing that the intimacy he’d just felt was a secret he would have to carry alone.
“fuck, where are my keys?” you asked, glancing around the room.
“probably on the dresser, sweetheart,” he answered softly, his voice lacking its usual theatrical energy.
you found them and let out a sigh of relief, stepping back into his space one last time to plant a quick, friendly kiss on his cheek. “thanks, eds. and thanks for… whatever this was,” you added with a little chuckle, the phrase 'whatever this was' echoing in his mind as a definitive label for their new arrangement. “i’ll see you later, yeah?”
you were already halfway to the door, your energy buzzing and untroubled. eddie just sat there, his shoulders slumping slightly as the silence of the room rushed back in to fill the void you left behind. he nodded, his gaze softening into something mournful.
“yeah,” he said, his voice barely a whisper. “see ya.”
he waited until the sound of your footsteps faded and the door clicked shut before he let out a long, shaky breath. he sank back onto the bed, burying his face in his hands, the ghost of your scent still clinging to his skin and the crushing weight of an unrequited love settling heavily in his chest…
