hey there! i'm Bee, and i'm new to studyblr & langblr so an introduction seems like the best idea!

☆ about me

I'm Bee, a twenty-three spanish media & video student who also speaks English and French and is trying to learn her fourth language on her own this time! I lived in Finland for three months with an erasmus program and been in love with the country since (and with my partner who I met there ngl). Would love to live there in the future! That's one of the main reasons I started learning Finnish :)

I have been active on here for couple of years on my main @beeisnothere where i mainly post (repost) dark academia, dead poets society and just pretty stuff in general (feel free to follow me there too!) but I've always been interested in this side of tumblr, and since I wanna keep myself accountable and motivate myself to study I just thought, why not? so here i am :)

it's been a while, so this will be some kind of update. i've finally finished my internship, and have gotten a (not formal yet) offer to continue with them, at least until i leave for finland. i'm still not sure if they will actually contact me or if they were empty words, but finally getting a foot on the door of my field just when i'm leaving has had me spiraling a little. but i know, deep down, that i really wanna move. still, doesn't make it much easier :')

If that wasn't enough, I have a week before my final project's deadline, and I've been stressing since I decided to change almost the whole thing with less than a month of time. But even if it's not fully ready yet, I'm working hard to meet the deadline. I just really wanna graduate and to not have to exchange a single more email with this ppl ever.

So, for language studies, the only thing I've managed to do is to keep up with the online classes and the homework for them. Hopefully once I graduate I'll have time to get back to it, I was doing pretty well with consistency before 🤧

these past weeks have been super hectic, and my language studies have definitely taken the hit of it. Between my internship and the deadline for my final project coming in like a month, I feel like I'm going a little insane. To be honest can't wait for it to be all over and graduate from this god awful degree. I just have to put up with it for one more month :'D

I had been neglecting finnish for a bit, but i finally booked a class for yesterday, and it was quite motivating. We're finishing the second book soon, and from now on we'll focus on more writing and reading resources outside the textbook since I already have a decent grammar base. That was really nice to hear, because sometimes it's hard to notice your own progress. We also did a long speaking exercise on a specific topic which reminded me of my english classes when I was learning it back in the day, which was cool.

I'm also lowkey excited about starting finnish classes at uni, even if I'll probably have to start from 0 it'll be nice to go over the basics again and have classmates to practice with :)

Shit got real all of a sudden and have been neglecting studying these past two weeks. But we're back to it, my tutor is back from holidays which is nice since classes keep me accountable, and after this easter break we're locking in 🫡

I'm actually really happy because I've been talking with one of my future classmates and we've clicked so well, I'm happy I won't be lost and alone the first day. These next week they're holding couple webinars for information, which will be nice. But all this is just making me excited for this next school year, and first I gotta finish this one. And let me tell you, the final project is kicking my ass.

This past week I got some super good news that I'm still trying to process and not go insane over. I got in. I'm gonna study in Finland this next school year, I got accepted into the degree I wanted. What the actual fuck.

There were only like 33 spots, I was so sure I wasn't gonna get in and even if I put lots of effort on my portfolio, the project they asked for and felt like the interview went well, I never actually believe it was a possibility, but somehow here we are. I actually got 186/200 points which is insane. I'm lowkey quite proud of myself since it's not grade-based and you are chosen based on your work, since it's an art program!

I'm kinda still not believing it's happening and probably won't until I'm there, but I'm so extremely excited. I've never gotten to experience uni life neither, and god I can't wait.

But that also means I really have to get serious about the language. I'm still doing bits everyday, but I really need to get a more strict studying schedule if I want to progress. Talk about motivation yk

Work and my final project still very much taking all my time (and energy) but still finding moments to study. Had an italki class today which completely killed me with grammar (after full on 45 mins of fighting with the partitive plural felt like my head was gonna explode lol) but feels nice to be productive

What a crazy past weeks. I think I mentioned it on my last post, I started my internship and I've been swarmed in projects and deadlines. I've had to cover events fully on my own, go film people on their studios, edit videos for big social media accounts and clients. And for my socially anxious self that was a lot. But I'm pretty proud of myself for doing it! Also building portfolio which is exactly what I needed.

I also had the interview for the degree this week!! I had gotten so many questions ready, a pitch of my project, my desk was full of papers with answers to possible questions... and then the interview turned out to be the most informal chill thing ever, just getting to know me. I had a good feeling, but maybe they're just good at their job lol. Now I have to wait until May and try not to go insane.

Still, even when being really busy and tired, been doing some Finnish everyday. When I don't have much time I try to at least watch a youtube video or listen to a podcast episode. When I have some more time, I've been going over articles, song lyrics and bits of books, translating and extracting vocab.

I've also been mega obsessing over the new Asla Jo album, especially the song Tuulia. I first heard it in an edit to the movie Valoa Valoa Valoa which I'm still constantly thinking about although I watched it months ago, and it just fits perfectly (peep the book the movie is based on that I bought when I was in Finland) And it's so satisfying being able to correctly sing the lyrics to songs!

So much has happened these past days. First of all, I got a callback for an interview for the degree I was trying to get into!!!! I'm extremely happy but still trying to not get my hopes up, there's only like 30 ish spots and interview doesn't mean I'm in, but tbh if it's a no I'd have preferred to know it now, because now I'll have to wait until May to know. I might go insane.

I've started going back to the office for my internship, and went from having nothing to do to be swarm in projects and deadlines for this week. Quite stressed but the projects are very nice, trying to focus on that.

Besides how busy I've been, I've been trying to reserve some time for finnish. Today I had an italki class which completely aniquilated me with grammar, and these past days I've been working with some articles, as well as listening to podcasts on my commute.

Cozy Friday at home ✨️ Did some podcast listening and shadowing with the transcript, and continued reading the finnish graphic novel I started recently. Even if at times I don't understand anything lol, finding it quite funny.

Enjoying some time inside before going back to my internship. Finishing Wuthering Heights so I can hate on the movie with some base, also finished the book for my bookclub this weekend! Baked a bit and waiting for my bf to get out of work so we can watch our daily Supernatural episode 🙂‍↕️

Started new notebook today, which always feels like an accomplishment. Spent 45 mins ish with translations and vocabs, and 15 mins making flashcards. Also spent some time with my final project, pretty happy about today's productivity.

Also went to the cinema with some friends! They were doing a rerun of Romeo + Juliet, and I had never seen it. Really enjoyed it :)

Unexpectedly got some free days out of my internship (not a good thing but ohwell will have to deal with it) so headed to the café for some studying!

Also finally got around to start my final project, really dreading it but first deadline coming around :'D

Using the weekend to try get some studying. New Kuumaa album released so perfect practice for some vocab. Hoping to see this week if my morning shift at work is gonna be same schedule everyday so I can work on some routine. Went from nothing to do, so much free time to now having my days full, but although bit stressed, lowkey grateful to have something to keep me busy.

Had an italki class today that went pretty decent, I've been working on grammar exercises as well as listening to podcasts on my commute. Still trying to find a balance between work, doing my final project and studying, but trying to not be too harsh on myself since today was just my third day.

But yeah I started my internship! Haven't done much yet but the company looks great, and doesn't really mather how the experience goes I'll get some new stuff for my portfolio and cv, which is always super needed in the media field. Trying to be positive about it!

Taking it slow (not at all anxiously updating my email every 5 mins, not at all). Instead, spending my time reading, listening to podcasts, playing games. Will miss my free time soon (hopefully) so trying to make the best out of it.

Doing little by little, every day. Working with some youtube videos, copying down interesting phrases and going over new vocab. Also reading! Started today a new graphic novel, "Freya & Eldi: Matka Ejderhaan".

On other note, went to an Alice in Wonderland exhibition the other day with some friends. Besides that, anxiously waiting for a reply about my internship (it's been a week, uni literally ghosting me :D)

Putting today's date to not fuck with my posts' formatting but honestly this is just a recap of the last week ish. I don't know why but I haven't feel like posting much, even when I did study. Probably because I spent the week anxiously worrying about an interview :')

But hey good news I got the internship!! It still has to be arranged with the school, talk about the specifics and stuff, but I went to the office on wednesday and it was a yes on their part and also on mine. All the people there seems super nice, and looks like I'll have lots to do (which, even if daunting, it's the way to learn) and they're working on really cool projects that, even if it ends up not being that awesome, they'll at least look good on my portfolio. So, still very nervous about starting, but happy too.

About finnish, I've been doing a bit of everything. I have my next class tomorrow so I've been going over the grammar we saw, doing my homework, writing a little text to get it corrected, and also lots of inmerssion. I've been watching videos (been enjoying the Winx lol), working with the finnish2go podcast, making flashcards for the new vocab, and reading a lot. Even the days I have 0 energy and/or time, I make time for at least a 10 min video. Feeling good about it, but I'll have to make a new routine where I can handle the internship, making my final project (which I have to start working on now) and studying finnish. Will see if I survive :D

I finally turned in the application that had me going insane for like two months. Now what's left is to wait, so (hopefully) now I'll have more time for Finnish. I have been neglecting the active studying these past days in favor of finishing the application, but will start with the routine again this week. The days that I haven't been posting here I have at least watched some youtube, little is better than nothing, same as today.

-> Watched a 15 min youtube video

-> Read for about 40 mins. Finished the Moomin book I was reading, and started another childrens book. They're still more difficult than the graded readers, but I'm powering through them and not stopping to translate every single word, because if I do so I end up not feeling like reading at all :D

-> Watched an episode of winx club in finnish lol. Funnily enough, I understood like 90% of it
