the uber thing

so ive seen a lot more uber ads recently with the main idea being that there are now women drivers available. their catchphrase is "women riders can now request women drivers." and im kind of not happy about this.

im all for women's' rights and the ability to have more jobs, but firstly- uber has been around for 17 YEARS. it started in sf in 2009. why weren't we hiring women then? or literally any other time in between then and now??

also- the slogan "women riders can now request women drivers" seems...i dont know how to word it. my issue is that it does address the huge issue of many male uber drivers harassing and/or assaulting female customers, but in my opinion, hiring the first women uber drivers isn't the way to solve this. many people have been assaulted by the same sex, and just because two women are in the same car doesn't mean one won't try something. whag has been accomplished here other than uber proving that theyre "woke"?

another thing!!! one of the ads i continue to see is a young woman moving to a big city for uni, and the only comfort she finds is with a woman driver giving her advice for handling the city. again- handling the Dangerous Male Drivers thing the wrong way!! to me this ad promotes that women only feel safe when with another woman in control, which is NOT the message we should be sending. women and men should be able to feel entirely safe and comfortable using uber, and not just with someone of the same sex.

thats my take- id love to see how others feel on this topic though

Their blog features claims such as the only valid therians are physical therians, you must be transitioning to be a valid therian, and microlabels harm the alterhuman community. (And probably many more, but I didn't waste my time looking at their blog for too long.) To top it all off, they are paramisic! And of course there's everything they claim in their bio.

I am not trying to start anything, and there is no rude or hateful intent behind this post. I just want others to be aware of this blog so they don't have to deal with them.
