This story combines a lot of my favorite types of jam. It’s a story about badly scarred survivors, about the way the world keeps going in the aftermath of tragedy, about fitting together the shards of your life and finding something new and beautiful in what remains. It’s got magic (a little) and politics (a lot, but distant) and a Grand Country House and freshly baked bread. It’s got Ominous Dreams and Symbolic Lighting and a Hidden Library, and everyone wears really sharply tailored suits.

Whether you like ancient gods and creation myths or prefer more contemporary positions of power, this issue invites a view from the tops of the world.

Opposites attract, repel, and then attract again in this issue of sometimes-curious alignments.

Interested in doing a cover for one of these? We’re looking for full-color, finished pieces with homosuggestive, if not downright homoerotic, themes. Looking back at the covers of our previous issues, you can see that they run the gamut from sweet to sexy, from serious to silly, and everything in-between. While the editorial staff will gladly opine if asked, what you do is pretty much up to you!

If you’re game, send us an email at [email protected] and list your top three theme choices. We can’t promise that everyone will get everything they want, but we’ll do our best.

Preference will be given to individuals who a) have been active participants in SSBB, and b) have not done a cover the previous year.

Seriously. The people backing up their blogs and preparing to jump ship aren’t doing it out of panic; it’s weary recognition. We’ve been here before.

Fandom platform of the future - specs and features

So I made a tweet about how Maciej Ceglowski (aka Pinboard guy) should consult with fandom on how to build a new fandom platform inclusive of not just text, but images and multimedia. 

And then Maciej DMed me and said if fandom (I realize this does not include all parts of fandom) can get a consensus spec of what this platform should consist of, he’ll see what we can do. I have split the document into requirements and nice to haves. I know I’m not going to get everything, but hopefully this is a good enough start to get the ball rolling.

I kind of laughed like “Haha, what hubris, my tech friends say it’ll take a couple million dollars to create a platform like this, one does not simply walk into Mordor” but then all my tech friends were like, “Uh, hon? It’s  Maciej Ceglowski. He either HAS a couple million to spend, or can talk his friends into fronting the money.”

So, uh… go make a wishlist!
