Shousetsu Bang*Bang is a bi-monthly zine devoted to queer love stories told through text and art.

Since 2005, Shousetsu Bang*Bang has been a webzine for authors and artists to showcase their original works. We are an all-volunteer project dedicated to making and displaying the sexy queer content we want to see in the world, focusing on explicit love stories with happy endings. Shousetsu Bang*Bang 2024 in Review

Thanks for joining us for another great year of smutty queer original stories and art! Here's how we spent 2024:

Issue 107: Yes, Chef was our culinary-themed February issue. Hope you're hungry, because this issue serves up an eight-course banquet of stories, art, and other tasty treats.

Usually SSBB prides itself on original tales that you can hop right into with no prior knowledge, but April's Issue 108: Another Round mixed things up by offering direct sequels, prequels, and companions to stories that have run in previous SSBB issues. It's like getting two issues for the price of one! (That price was free.)

All aboard for Issue 109: The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea! June's issue took a nautical approach, catching sea creatures and beach bums alike in its sexy nets.

Issue 110: Neon Lights is the issue that never sleeps! Inspired by big-city night life, August's urban tales of steamy romance will stay up with you long past last call.

The past isn't past -- it's here in Issue 111: Hauntology! Our traditionally spooky October issue is a little on the gentler side this time, but still good for a ghostly shiver or two.

And for our last trick, we've got our theme-free December big bang, Issue 112, to ring in the New Year just right. Containing both the shortest and the longest stories we've run all year, this issue is a smorgasbord of smutty tales to fit and fill all tastes!

As has been true for the last nineteen years, all of our contents are made with love and the hard work of creators who give freely of their time and talents. Happy Pride from Shousetsu Bang*Bang!

Hi! We're Shousetsu Bang*Bang, the world's longest-running (that we know of) webzine of original smutty queer fiction and art! For the last twenty years, we've been putting out regular issues full of all kinds of queer romance focusing on sexy scenes and happy endings. Every issue is completely free, whether you're reading it on our website or downloading the ebook versions from Smashwords and Itch.io.

This is an all-volunteer endeavor, so we need your help! Want to do your part to help keep this one-of-a-kind (again, as far as we know) project going? Here's how!

We've got a ton of back issues, so the easiest way to start is to pick an issue title that sounds good and just start reading! Issues are carefully curated, so make sure you read them top to bottom (so to speak).

Remember how I said this was an all-volunteer project? It's true! Our contributors give freely of their time and talents. And the main way to encourage writers and artists whose work you like to write and/or draw more for you is to tell them that you appreciate what they've done already! We have no advertising budget. (Did you catch the part where this is an all-free, all-volunteer project?) Thanks for spending 2025 with us at Shousetsu Bang*Bang! We’re glad you’ve joined us here at end of the year to close out the old and ring in the new with our theme-free December big bang issue! We’ve got stories large and small for you here, full of excitement, enchantment, romance — and, of course, explicit queer smut.

Since 2005, Shousetsu Bang*Bang has been providing the internet, free of charge, with issue after issue of original queer love stories with steamy scenes and (mostly) happy endings! As important as this was twenty years ago, it’s even more important now to be proud pornographers!

…And it’s even more difficult now to be proud pornographers. This year, we’ve had social media posts censored and ebooks pulled from distribution because of our content. We’re not expecting any more welcome of a corporate reception for this issue, nor for any of the issues we’ve got scheduled for 2026. Which sucks! It sucks to have these amazing collections of work by talented authors and artists, only to have our attempts to tell people about them cut off at what seems like every turn.

So please! If you like our small-batch, fully human-made artisinal queer smut project, tell people! Share posts from our Bluesky, Mastodon, Plurk, and Tumblr accounts! Make your own and tag us! Download and rate our ebook collections at Smashwords and Itch.io! Send links to your friends! The old Shousetsu Bang*Bang place? Sure, I heard of it. Folks ’round here tell all sorts of tales about it. Don’t mean nobody’s been there in a while, though.

It was back in … what, aught-five? I think it was, yeah, that there first were people up in that place. Dozens of people at first, maybe hundreds, even, on some occasions. Folk bringing their smut, their fanciful tales, their pretty pictures, all those stories ’bout boys kissing other boys, things like that. You’d hear them all night, on into the night up there, sometimes often as once a month!

Weren’t no big calamity or change that ended it, nothing so dramatic. Things just started to … dry up. Folk wanderin’ off. Platforms changing, then shutting down. All that goddamn big-city social media consolidation. And the censorship! One site or another shut them down, or told them they couldn’t do it the way they wanted to. Pretended like the internet is too good for dicks touchin’! You ever heard such a thing in all your life? But it’s true, it’s true, or at least that’s what the old-timers say.

Folks stopped talking about the old Shousetsu Bang*Bang place. Then they stopped reading. Then they stopped coming altogether. Then the whole place went dark.

But they say some nights you can still hear it, the sounds of a new issue up there. Some even say that on the last Monday of every month — why, that’s tonight! — that you can see a new round of lights in the windows and all kinds of figures dancing all around. All the queer revelry and pornographic merriment, folk say it looks as alive as it ever was. Like maybe it’s even been alive the whole time.

‘Course, no one goes there anymore. You kids wouldn’t be foolish enough to try and see it for yourselves. …Would you?

That’s right! In our pages, you’ll find absolutely nothing for your purity-culture heart to worry about! There’s nothing in here that might get a “mature content” label slapped on it, hindering our social media reach! There’s absolutely nothing that would get this issue taken down by our ebook distributors because some automatic scanning process detected that there might be some no-no words and maybe a naughty picture or two! There is without doubt not a single thing that would give even a moment’s pause to a morally and ideologically pure individual who determines their own self-worth by the peer-group acceptance of the media they consume and thinks everything would be better for the LGBTQIAA2SMOGAI+ community if most of those letters would just be a little more normal!

In short, in this, our newest issue, you will find no s*x, no p*rn, no q-slurs, no boobies, no nip-nops, no wee-wees, no hoo-hahs, and definitely, positively, absolutely no happy romantic stories jam-packed with smoking hot explicit queer f*cking!

…Goddammit, I said there weren’t going to be any q-slurs, didn’t I? Well, great, I fucked it up again. Fuck me, this one’s never getting by the algorithm now.

Whatever. Fuck it. Just start reading.

Signups are now open for our June 29 issue; the text deadline for the issue is Tuesday, June 16 and the art deadline is Saturday, June 27.

Please reply to this post if you plan to submit a story or artwork for this issue, indicating whether you are interested in contributing to the issue as an author and/or artist, and whether or not you are looking for a collaborative partner. As always, you don’t have to sign up to participate, and you’re not creating an unbreakable contract by signing up, but it’s always a good idea!
