Gdansk old town
So the Baltic Sea was a thing that happened.
So next Thursday is our last day of school and we have been asked to perform something, this is what we thought we'd do. :)
Lyrics
We’ve got our tickets for the long way home Two Polish vodkas for the way And we sure would like some sweet company But we’re leaving tomorrow. What d'you say? When we’re gone, when we’re gone We’re gonna miss you when we’re gone We’re gonna miss you by your school We’re gonna miss ya cause you’re cool, oh We’re gonna miss you when we’re gone We’ve got our tickets for the long way home The one with the prettiest of views It's got kangaroos and beaches It’s got maple leaves and beavers But it sure would be prettier with you When we’re gone, when we’re gone We’re gonna miss you when we’re gone We’re gonna miss you by your smiles We’re gonna miss you all the while We’re gonna miss you when we’re gone

My host brothers are way cool.
There was this gorgeous fountain in Torun, that played different orchestral music and the fountain changed colours and strength in time with the music. Needless to say we had a lot of fun running through it and attempting (and failing) to dodge the water jets, and in Bride's case, classily stacking it :P
ANZAC Day in Warsaw (shh, I know I'm a bit late... these were taken on the 25th of April, promise)
It was short, sweet, and populated by mostly confused polish schoolkids, but there was a little ceremony for ANZAC Day held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw, which a couple of us went to :)
Deutschland with Kirri summed up perfectly in 9 pictures. Boats, tea, fun, chocolate chess, cats, gorgeous gardens and selfies. <3
Just had the most amazing night last night with my favourite aussie and kiwi. Impactfest was absolutely perfect. I am so glad that I decided to go. I have a new found love for Paramore. And we discovered that sometimes you just have to yell and scream and dance to songs you don’t even know (especially since the Polish people just assumed we were drunk).
5th June, Bride, Danielle and I went to a festival to see Paramore, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Stereophonics and a couple other bands. Such a good night. :D
Quick adventure update and some soppy rambling
So I'm actually the worst and haven't updated this in like... 6 weeks? Yup. Oops. In that time I've been back to Germany, back to Torun, put a hole through my nose, been to a festival, had way too many sleepovers, and learned the hard way when you're at a Polish dinner and you're a little underage aussie girl, you're going to get accidentally drunk, because the Polish put way too much alcohol in their cocktails :P
28th April I headed to Plauen, Germany via Dresden and Berlin to visit another misplaced Aussie on her yearlong rotary exchange. It's funny how the Germans are noticeably different to the Polish even though they are so geographically and historically close. Spending a week living the German way was great thanks to the generosity of the Plauen rotarians. Kirri's host family, the Lönings, are lovely welcoming people, and everyone else I met was too (but only after I explained that I wasn't actually Polish, just living in Poland... some opinions die hard in these countries!) It was wonderful seeing Kirri and hopefully we get to catch up again in London before I head home. In a week I learned many things, including about Plauen lace, how to fit 19 people in a tiny sailing boat, and that there are cats in the world who like me. Weird, huh.
The other travel I did was back to Torun for Danielle's 19th birthday celebration. Whilst there isn't much to do in Torun seeing as I'd already done it all the first time it was great just having a weekend to relax with friends and not have to race around doing touristy stuff. Odd, hilarious things happened that weekend, including running through fountains drunk at midnight, sliding down stairs wrapped in blankets, writing bucket lists while slightly tipsy at 2am and paying 10zl to sit on a boat and play cards. It was a super great way to spend the weekend, not gonna lie. It makes me excited for doing stuff like road trips down south and stuff which is totally happening when I get home, people, prepare yourselves.
I only have one more trip planned before the end of placement and that's to Gdansk partially for my birthday and partially cause it's pretty much the last time there's gonna be a lot of us volunteers in one place which is super sad. This whole experience has gone so fast and I look at the date and go oh my goodness like 20 days until placement ends. I remember when it was like 3 months and now it's less than one and that is scary. I'm super-duper excited for the month of travel with my family at the end and getting to do everything I've always wanted to do in Europe. Not gonna lie I'm probably most excited for Paris Disneyland. (Child at heart here.) But it's still scary cause time has gone so fast and while I think I'm ready to go home to meat pies and everyone speaking english and my own nice warm cosy bed, I'm so not ready to say goodbye to all the fantastic people I have met here.
One of the things that I was most terrified of before I arrived here was making friends, despite what everyone told me that you 'click' straight away because coming here means that you share ideals and ways of thinking, etc etc. It's evidence enough that the first photo I took on this journey was an idiotic selfie of Tara and I at McDonalds in Munich, wearing leggings and thongs while it was snowing, and now we're basically bestest of friends. (Tara, I know you're reading this, don't let it go to your head, you're still a jerk <3) I already have flights booked to Steph's birthday, plans to visit Canada for the future and I'll no doubt find myself in NZ as well even though you lot of kiwis are clearly inferior ;) Bride and Danielle are my ukelele gang, Tara is my favourite troll and Steph's my adopted grandmother. These people have made my experience over here that much easier by being shoulders to lean on and a constant source of laughter. I keep telling myself that I don't want to say goodbye in 21 days when we get on aeroplanes to go travelling across the world some more, but I know it won't be goodbye, cause goodbye is forever. It'll just be see you later. I'm not usually one for sappiness but guys, you da best basically.
I'm a little bit scared about coming home 'cause it means university and jobs, and I've been bit hard by the travel bug like most of us have over here. All I want to do is keep seeing new things and it's a little bit frustrating being so torn between missing home so much and wanting to see so much more. For those of you who don't know, I've enrolled in Curtin doing BA Mass Comms for Semester 2 2013, which basically means 3 days recovery time in between getting off the plane at Perth Airport and heading to O-Week :P Which will be a little bit hellish I think but I am excited. I've learned that despite my insecurities I can make wonderful friends who love me for who I am (right, guys? :P ) so I'm less nervous about that part of uni. I just don't know if I'm going to be able to sit still for 3 years of uni. Knowing me I'll take a year off... and probably go travelling again. Yep, I've been bit hard. Oh well. I'm out in the world, I've seen things I never thought I'd see at the baby age of 17 (18 in 10 days, guys!) and it'll just keep getting better and better from here.
"Life's not about waiting for the storms to pass...It's about learning to dance in the rain."
Yup. There's more.
This time we DANCE!
So sometimes Danielle, Bride and I get bored. And cook. And film it. Thus, My Sober Kitchen was born.
(This was sparkling apple just JUST SAYING)

That I have finally been un-lazy enough to post :P The weather has finally gotten spring-ly lately so I have been making the most of my time and keeping myself very busy. I shall update you all soon. :)
A stroll through the park and a visit to the Victory Tower to end the trip :)
A street with my name and a street with my birthday :D
