Drake Bell and Hollywood

One of my favourite Moon Knight rabbit holes to torture myself with is that Wendy Spector could have alternated heavy abuse with being overtly affectionate.

Her going through unpredictable manic/depressive episodes where she puts her son through hell. Then comes a lucid phase where she has a momentary turn of heart whether by guilt or just... whim. Who knows what drives her. Then she showers her son with affection...toys and candy and merch and favourite take-out meals. Steven's there for all the love.

Marc's not, mostly. But he's aware. And as he grows older it starts feeling more and more wrong. It feels wrong to accept any affection. With everything else she continues to do. It feels like he's letting his mother "earn the right to abuse him by showing him affection"

I wonder what pushed them to finally make the decision to leave home. Whether it was another act of abuse, or an act of "love".

Me: Mizu’s gender in Blue Eye Samurai is complex and ambiguous even to him/her/them and that’s part of the richness of the story, not a reason for the fandom to get upset at one another or especially at the show creators for saying they envisioned Mizu as a woman struggling to survive in a society hostile towards her racial background and women in general. Mizu’s upbringing was, to put it lightly, supremely fucked up and I respect the show for leaving Mizu’s gender identity and sexual preferences fairly ambiguous because I think they’re ambiguous even to Mizu, who doesn’t exactly lead a life or display an internality in which this question is any kind of priority for Mizu to answer, even if Mizu had a cultural context that gave the tools the answer it, which Mizu does not. Mizu’s relationship with all aspects of their identity, including their race, gender, sexuality is an ongoing question and dialogue being actively explored in the show itself, without a strict conclusion offered, and a conclusion might never be offered, even in later seasons, as Mizu continues to grapple with identity. It’s an archive old stories are still meant to be found and read. Please think about interacting with the fic you read: at least kudos if you read it, a comment would be ideal. The authors will be over the moon. I guarantee you not a single author is going to ask why someone is commenting on an older fic.

I still think if you want to broaden your taste musically you should do it by literally branching out. Take something you already like, look into it’s influences, and give those a try, find something you like then do that again and again and it’s infinite. Yes, by the nature of music in the 20th century this *will* eventually take you invariably outside your genre zone and national zone, if you’re willing to give it a try. (If you like Lady Gaga, she references Sun Ra on her first album and loves him, and from there you’re already a second away from so much music from Africa and Asia, let alone the entire jazz tradition…) Getting into music in a broad and general way is such a magical trip it’s indescribable. Look up the samples, check the wiki ask friends look up the references etc…
