Short comic, while I work on something bigger on the side. It is nevertheless a very important topic. A lot of seabirds die because they eat plastic. They feed their chicks with the waste. It’s really tragic.

does anybody else remember in the late 2000s there was an attempt to popularize utensils made out of starch instead of plastic? Why didn’t that take off and expand to other plastic products?

Like I just read an article saying that they weren’t really decomposable and that a starch spoon only broke down about 30% after 2 years in the author’s backyard, but like that’s infinitely faster than a regular plastic item and seems like a better solution?
