Mornings aren't a good time to be demanding of Mummy... š©š½ Would you like an egg for breakfast š§š½ Yes please mummy. š©š½ Great, pop the drawing stuff away and I'll make it š§š½ No! š©š½ OK, well I'm not making eggs then 5 minutes pass *yelling at me from the lounge* š§š½ Where's my eggy! š©š½ I didn't make you one. When a baby is born, a mother is born. Thereās no manual, no book, no advice in the world that could teach us how to mother. It comes from this innate ability. Mothers are doers, teachers, nurturers, and lovers whose heart/s literally beat/s outside of her chest. People donāt talk about the hard parts of parenting or really give ourselves the freedom to share whatās real. The days where hearing the word āmomā sounds pierced, or the days youāve swept the same floor over and over, the days you spend eating over the kitchen sink at mealtime, or the days that your child is āthat childā at the market. You know āthat childā at the market, the one you swore as a childless-parenting-expert that youād never have one of those or certainly one that wouldnāt have a meltdown in aisle 3. They donāt tell you that being a mom is messy. Because on your hardest days most wonāt admit to not showering or having oatmeal crusted yoga pants. Or that we all go through a period of mourning our old selves, some never completing this cycle. And often times we are looking at the other moms thinking how easy they make it look, how well-behaved their children act, or how clean they all look. We assume because we feel inferior in our own place in motherhood. As women, we have a responsibility to be honest. By pretending our lives are perfect with perfect children, perfect birth story, perfect vaginas, with a perfect sex life after children we do a disservice to women all around. We owe it to ourselves to say whatās real and support each other even in the smallest of ways. Offer a kind glance at the mom in aisle 3, hold the door open for the giant stroller, or heck - bring a cooler of beer to the playground. May we honor each other by celebrating our differences in our mothering ways. A hat tip to you in all that you do on this coming Motherās Day. Above all, itās beyond humbling and Iām incredibly grateful to be called āmom.ā #happymothersday
Reminder to myself
Your body is awesome!
Ā āIām not fat, and Iām not skinny. Iām normal! We all have fat, and we all have skin, but that doesnāt mean we need to stereotype anyone. I wanna try somethingā¦The next time you want to label someone āfatā or āthin,ā just say whoever it is, is beautifully made. But this isnāt just for me, itās for you girls too. Just saying it once to yourself every morning, āI am beautifully madeā can change how we feel about ourselves.ā

Breakfast made for everyone
I love this wintery weather! Tonight I made tomorrow's breakfast for Squee, Moose & myself Fruit oatmeal 2 apples 2 pears 20 pitted prunes 2C rolled oats 4.5C water Peel & chop apples & pears I cook everything at once in my soup blender, 25 minutes at 100 Celsius, blend 1 minute. You could also cook everything in a big pot & use a stick mixer. Yum
Positive changes this week
I've started walking with Squee wrapped during her witching hour. A walk for at least an hour a day with 10kgs (that's over 22pounds for my imperial friends) strapped to my front is a very good work out! Much cleaner eating this week. I've been making my own cereals and but butter too. It's amazing how having a baby changes the way you look at the world. I've pretty much been looking at foods and wondering why I would feed it to myself & hubby if I wouldn't feed it to Squee
