Our simplistic take on mindfulness is: Taking a moment to pause from the chaos of life. Thoughts are constantly bustling through our minds; meetings, appointments, work, worries, kids, the game... unless we are asleep, we never really give ourselves a break from all the disarray in modern day life. Let’s think of a computer, or even your phone. Every once in a while it becomes overwhelmed by processes and crashes. Think of mindfulness as a scheduled maintenance check on the most incredible operating system ever created; your mind. So mindfulness teaches you to power down/reboot. As far as I am aware, we don’t have a keyboard shortcut or restart button built into our bodies. Mindfulness is actually achieved by focusing your thoughts and awareness to become really present in the moment. When you discovered this post, I hoped that some of you stopped for a moment to admire the beauty. I hope that for that moment, you found yourself focusing on nothing else but how peaceful the waves looked landing against the rock. I hoped that for that moment you forgot about everything else as your awareness, thoughts and feelings, became focused on one thing. If this happened then I am delighted.
