Hello all!

I couldn't be more excited to announce that I have been cast in the ensemble of "Damn Yankees" and "110 in the Shade" with Tent Theatre this summer! 

This is going to be an incredible experience, not only because I'll be getting paid to perform (WHAT?!), but I will be working alongside professional equity actors from around the country. 

Through Tent, I will become an EMC, an Actor's Equity Association Membership Candidate. One step closer to becoming a professional actor!

This will be my fifth summer in a row spent working on a show, but this year, I'll be under a massive tent.

PROS: No rain outs!

CONS: Hot. Very hot. I'm glad we aren't doing RENT!

110 in the Shade runs from June 11-22.

For my girlfriend Taryn's 20th birthday this year, I decided to take a page from my own book and write her a song and shoot an accompanying music video for it. Song, cheese and tap dance included.

Wow, do I feel old.

Only 10 years until I turn 30!!

My 20th birthday was super busy, but really good. It began with a big kinesiology exam at 7:30am which I was pretty nervous about, since most of my friends had been scoring 60-70%. I somehow happily ended up with 87%.

I took a stab at baking Nanaimo bars for my Voice & Movement classmates (see photo above). They didn't turn out perfectly, but they were a huge hit with everyone.

After my other classes, we opened our little one-act play "The Chocolate Affair". It's a twelve minute show about two "candies", Mr. Goodbar and M&M who taunt and tempt Bev, a middle-aged businesswoman, with her daughter's Halloween candy. It's a fun, cute little show and opening night was a success.

After the show, I had rehearsal for the Hibernotes, our new mixed a capella group. I'll try to post a sample of what we sound like at some point this week.

After rehearsal ended at midnight, I finally hit the hay, exhausted, but feeling slightly better about entering another decade.

Happy (American) Thanksgiving! Last night I travelled back with Kelly, the other Canadian musical theatre major, to her home in St. Louis. Her Mom even made nanaimo bars for us! Today we're going to make granola bars, wander around town and probably watch more movies on Netflix. It's pretty foggy today, but tomorrow the forecast calls for 20 degrees and sunny. How's that for the end of November? I still haven't seen a flake of snow, which means I'm a happy camper.

It turns out I might get a Canadian semi-turkey dinner tonight after all!

Well, it turns out my bragging about the warmer temperatures here in Springfield to all my Canadian friends might have proven a little erroneous, as the mercury is currently sitting at a brisk 51 degrees - or 10 degrees celsius. Yes, it's currently ten degrees warmer in Calgary right now, and I don't know how that happened.

Classes have been going really well, and I'm especially enjoying Astrophysics, Voice & Movement and Tap. My kinesiology class has proven slightly challenging, but hopefully I'll scrape by with a B - people say it is among the hardest courses offered, yet it's mandatory. Yikes. I'm also making what I would consider to be great progress in my voice lessons - it's insane what one little correction in technique can do for you. My Public Speaking class requires a decent amount of homework to prepare our speech outlines, but I can already tell it will be very rewarding in the long run. My "Freshman Foundations" class is definitely an easy-A class, but thankfully it's only twice a week and doesn't require much homework. 

I'm now almost half-way through my first semester. Time sure does fly, but I also can't wait to come home for Christmas and see all the faces I miss.

First tornado warning of the new school year!

Shortly after this video was taken, I was strictly told to hurry down to the basement of my residence to wait out the tornado. The power went out a couple times, but I survived ;) 

After about half an hour, the warning was over and we were able to return to our rooms.

Yes, my school has a glow-in-the-dark bowling alley. I scored second in our game last night. That's not too bad, hey?
