Waves will not bow to your physical prowess no matter how impressive.

Shock does not care that you used to be on your school swim team.

If you hit your head, being good at swimming isn't going to turn you face-up while you're unconscious.

You may be unable to return to shore. Rescue may be unable to find you quickly.

the amount that tumblr users assume that mental health and disability is literally an american-only concept like actually makes me sick. the amount of tumblr users who assume that fighting for disability rights is only something that affects america because only americans are disabled is fucking insane.

like tumblr users really genuinely do believe the whole idea that caring about disabled people is an american first world problem, like, they fell so hard for the anti-SJW shit that was popular in 2006-2017 that they absolutely believe all the "worrying about disability is a first world problem" rhetoric that was being slung around at that time against "tumblrinas" who were trying to spread disability activism. and now this entire websites made up of people my age who absolutely got bullied into being scared of actually ever doing any kind of actual political activism because what if theyre one of the "cringy blue haired snowflakes" as if that's somehow the ~worst~ thing to be.

it makes me wonder if these people realize that the only kind of counter culture that actually exists right now is actually giving a shit about feminism, transphobia, racism and ableism. that's the only real "counter culture" that even exists. everything else is just shit everyone else is doing!

Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who was murdered on the first day of Pride month as well as Indigenous History Month. He died protecting his trans husband. Homophobia and racism aren’t marks of the past, and this is a heart breaking reminder of that.

Today is the anniversary of the death of Jonathan Joss (King of the Hill, Parks and Rec). Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who died protecting his transgender husband, on the first day of Pride month. Today we remember him and how he protected his family.
