It’s like Buffy, there was a reason that all happened in the same place.” he shrugged, “I think it’s the government, and like you say, an experiment.” Ren sighed, shifting in his seat slightly, “Maybe, but it’s not a very good defence mechanism if it means you’re not prepared is it?”

“Well, it’s hard not to when things are happening. Especially with the weird shit around here.” Benji said and nodded. “Hm, like, someone trying out warfare stuff?” He asked, tugging at his earlobe for a moment, causing his earring to jingle slightly. “True, but it is a normal one, is it not?”

As they often did, since moving to Perfection Valley, they were walking around with their camera, capturing whatever caught their fancy. However, today, there were random sounds that they couldn’t place. It reminded them of Jurassic World. Which was one of few movies they had seen in recent time in the cinema. It was why Benjamin quickly held their camera up, and started snapping pictures of everything in their surrounding area. Nothing got caught, except buildings. And eventually, they gave up, because the noise was getting fainter, and they didn’t want to get eaten, so chose not to chase it. 

“Well, that was weird.” They said as they went inside the store. They were in the mood for a snack.

          “Someone sounds a little paranoid,” they pulling up a chair across from the other. “At least, that’s what I’d like to say, and mean it. But fuckin’ sharks in the middle of Nevada? Makes you wonder if it’s worth sticking around here.” They paused for a moment, thinking back on not just the water spouts full of marine predators, but the other bizarre creatures and happenings over the last few months, before heaving a deep sigh. “’Course, then I remember what rush hour traffic’s like in the city and think, hey, maybe tornadoes full of teeth aren’t so bad.” 

“Gee, thanks.” They said and rolled their eyes before going back to the photoediting. “Besides the freaky happenings, it is nice out here. Besides, I highly doubt that I’d be welcome back. And I do better here, where there’s less people.”

“Thankyou! This is what I keep saying but everyone’s acting like I’m nuts.” he was aware of what some of his fellow townspeople thought of it, while he was used to it in many ways it was nice to find someone to relate to. “With all the crazy stuff happening here though I’d argue the weird ones are the ones who think it’s all random coincidence.” he shrugged, there was no convincing most people though, Surendra was at peace with that.

“At first, I was inclined to agree. But now, not so much. It really feels like someone is experimenting.” He said and nodded. “That, I’m not so sure I agree with, because human denial is the strongest defence mechanism of the brain. Especially when it’s something that can’t be explain by logic.”

     Hearing a camera click nearby, Aysen turns to see where it’s coming from and spots the other. Flipping her hair dramatically over her shoulder, she narrows her eyes. “I know I’m stunningly beautiful that even Aphrodite bows down to me- but a picture of me, especially one with my ass in the shot, you gotta cough up twenty, kid.”

“First off, not taking a photo of you. Secondly, not that beautiful. Thirdly, sure as hell ain’t paying you for anything.” Benjamin said as he narrowed his eyes at her. “I may be a photographer, but I prefer non-human subjects.”

“Sounds like a pretty weird experiment,” Phoenix said, taking a seat next to him. “Why would anyone want to see if sharks could survive in a tornado?” She paused and thought about it for a second. “Although, I guess people have done some pretty weird experiments before.”  

“I know, but it just sounds like a plausible experiment.” Benji mused and looked up at who was talking. “Well... who said it was to see if they could survive outside of water. Maybe it is to see if tornadoes can transport animals from one ocean to another?”

               “What, like a government experiment?” Audrey truly hadn’t meant to eavesdrop, but it’s sort of become second nature to her; she’s basically trained her ears to hone in on whatever conversation is more interesting. “Sorry, I overheard you talking to yourself… Do you mind if I sit? I want to hear more about this conspiracy.”

He blinked and looked up at her and raised an eyebrow, then came the explanation. Benjamin hadn’t realised that he was talking to himself. It was something he did very seldom. “It’s alright, sure, go ahead, sit down.” He said as moved his laptop a bit. “And well, I’m a photographer, and have been catching several of these freakish tornadoes on film.”

“Well, if I were to guess, it’s not just a freak incident that there’s sharks in the tornadoes. What if, it’s some kind of experiment?” Benjamin was talking to himself, as he sat with his laptop open, editing photographs he’d taken. He was currently refining one of the tornado he had taken a few days ago.
