East of Vik lies the Eldhraun Lava Fields which were formed by the very violent eruption of Lakagigar back in the 1700’s. Jökulsárlón is a lagoon produced from the retreating tongue of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier. The lagoon is filled with large chunks of ice that constantly fall off from the melting glacier tongue. Iceland’s Strokkur geyser erupts approximately every 8-10 minutes and can reach heights of up to 40 meters! I didn’t really have that much of an expectation when we visited the geysers as I’ve seen geysers erupt on television before (i.e. I thought it would be boring) but it turned out to be such a different experience. Being there and seeing the geyser in person along with the throngs of people, there was an infectious sense of community and excitement as everyone tried to keep a close eye on Strokkur’s tranquil surface, hearts filled with trepidation waiting anxiously for any sign that it might erupt. Then Strokkur eventually erupts and the air is initially filled with the loud hissing of pressurized hot water hitting the air followed by the roaring cheers, claps, and ‘oohs and aahs’ from everyone around. #Iceland #GoldenCircle #Geysir #geyser #Strokkur #StrokkurGeyser (at Strokkur)

Had an unexpected detour at #YtriTunga, on a friend’s advice, to meet the seal colony on the beach. We got to the beach early in the morning and was disappointed as there were no seals in sight. We walked around the beach for a while and still no luck. I had the opportunity to meet some #IcelandicHorses on my trip to #Iceland 🐴. Such a beautiful breed, somewhat shorter and stockier than regular horses and they come in such a wide variety of beautiful coat and mane colours! I did get a little annoyed when I saw them cause I was a little envious of their long gorgeous locks... 😝🤣😜 (at Íshestar horseback riding tours in Iceland)

Walk on a glacier... check! I’ve always had this weird fear of slipping on ice and falling so I was super scared for our glacier hike on Svínafellsjökull.
