Lucas noticed the other man staring and glanced away, a small smile gracing his lips. Luca really is adorable. Though there must be a catch for someone so good looking and apparently open to be single….Or maybe he just puts his pack first… And he was so jealous before…

“So I take it yours is not the only pack in town? Had any trouble with them? What about the other supernaturals? One thing I’ve noticed in my travels, is how different the dynamics play out between the different factions in different cities.”

“We are the only one around here. It’s not...We usually don’t have any problems with others as long as they don’t attack us or are hostile. I protect my pack and if someone goes against them, they go against me.” Luka explained his pack dynamics a little bit. After everything that happened his pack was very keen on protecting each other even more. 

“We met vampires once but they were nice. Witches are around but also get along with us. It’s not the picture perfect world but it’s better than somewhere else.”

Lucas thanked him and shot a cheeky grin back. “Oh I bet!” He appraised Luka, looking so good in his dark green shirt. “Looking so fine as do you, I bet you get into all the mischief. A proper heartbreaker.  I know your type,” he teased.

More than anything, Luka smelled good. Lucas hadn’t realized how much he missed the scent of another werewolf - especially an alpha. And sitting next to the man, locked in the car with Luka, he couldn’t help but appreciate it.  He inhaled deeply through his nose but didn’t comment on it. 

“So, you’re taking me to this tapas restaurant? One of your favorities?”I’m still working out the better places to eat here.”

“Mischief yes, heartbreak? Not so much. When I can see myself with somebody, I’m loyal. When I just want to have fun, I’m honest. I may have a lot of fun but I was never an asshole.” He smirked. “But if you want to find out what type I am: Be my guest.” 

He looked at the over, eyes traveled over Lucas’ appearance. Damn, that guy was incredibly attractive and he was also smart and talented. A very dangerous but also very tempting mix. He heard the other inhale, but didn’t bother to say something since he didn’t want to make him feel uncomfortable in any way.

“Yep. That’s the one I’m taking you to. It’s a really great restaurant with great food. You will love it there.”

They were interrupted by people crowding around to look at the paintings. Lucas shot a wistful smile across at Luka, resigned to save their flirting for later. 

Friday night finally rolled around, and Lucas found himself looking forward to meeting that cheeky Alpha again. He wore a leather jacket over dark denim jeans and a deep burgundy shirt - a few extra buttons undone at the collar, of course. Luka turned up on time and after the usual pleasantries were exchanged, they were off. 

Lucas looked across at the other man, enjoying the view. “So, did you get up to any mischief over the week?” he asked. 

If he was being honest, he could not wait to meet Lucas again. The other man intrigued him and he really wanted to learn more about him and talk about his art. Because Lucas was a great artist and Luka enjoyed people with great talent. So he dressed in black jeans and a dark green dress shirt with a black suit jacket over it. 

So when they finally met, he smiled at Lucas. “You look gorgeous.” He said. “Me? Never. I’m innocent all the time.” He grinned cheekily.

His phone buzzed. A message. “Ah, just ignore that,” said Lucas. At this hour, it’s probably James. Why won’t he ever get the hint?” 

He smirked. “You haven’t seen me when I’m really in control, stud.” He told Lucas and inserted his number into the other’s phone, ignoring the message just like he was told to. Not his business anyway. 

“There you go. Free access to texting me whenever you feel lonely or in the mood for tapas.” Luka joked and winked at Lucas. “I’m pretty sure you will like the restaurant.”

“Now if that’s not a line, I don’t know what is. “ Lucas burst out laughing, his eyes sparkling. “Though I am surprised you’re asking me - the new guy in town - for date ideas. Doesn’t every charmer has a date checklist at the ready?“ 

Lucas clapped a hand on the other man’s back “I can’t do your job for you,” he teased.

“Uh, a challenge. I like challenges.” He watched Lucas intensely, contemplating his next words. “I didn’t ask for date ideas, darling. I asked what you would like to see, that’s different. But okay, if you want me to take control...” Again he winked at Lucas. The other just drew him in. “I know a great little restaurant around. They have great snacks and their red wine is great. Also, and that’s a fact, this restaurant is not on my date checklist but it would suit you. Interested, stud?”

Lucas smirked. So Luca is flirting with me! Perhaps I should turn up the heat a little. He’s probably used to being in control.

“What are you saying, you all come as a package deal?” teased Lucas. Now there’s a hot mental picture. Being tag-teamed by Luca and Alec…. Stop, don’t be a pervert, Luca’s probably just looking to recruit. Alpha’s always are.

“I’m not looking to join a pack,” said Lucas, crossing his arms. “Never have been. But if I hear a promising offer….I could make some time for a date.”  

He chuckled at the other’s words. “Of course we are. Every Tuesday we have orgies with friendly packs. Should come next time.” He replied with a half-smirk and a wink directed at Lucas. Flirting had always come naturally to him and he enjoyed it immensely at the moment. And neither him nor Alec had ever been innocent in this regards. When Luca snorted and started talking about Alec, Lucas blinked rapidly. I must have misspoke. I meant quite the guy. But he didn’t interrupt or correct the man, instead listened to Luca earnestly talk of family and pack. 

“..I personally think you are quite nice,” continued the other man. Their eyes met, and for a brief moment,  Luca’s eyes flashed.

“But not too nice I hope?” teased Lucas.

  Is he flirting with me or just recruiting? Best not to assume anything.  “Seriously though, I can understand why you’re being protective. It’s a rather admirable quality. Our kind always needs to be wary. Especially with the rise of so many hunter groups. I was recently in Seattle and there’s no packs left there.” Lucas shook his head sadly.  So many lives lost..

“You’re nice, that much I can tell at the moment. is too nice bad?” Luka asked with a small chuckle while he looked at Lucas, eyes returning to their normal color. “You’re definitively interesting if that’s what you were going for. I like interesting.”

A little flirt could not hurt, right? So, yes he was partly flirting with Lucas, partly enjoying the conversation they had. “It’s sad to hear that and it’s also the reason I’m so protective. I don’t want to lose another member. They are my family. Alec is my head beta by the way. Second in command if you were wondering.”
