His name is Onur Albayrak! Here’s the story.
Hurriyet Daily News reports that Albayrak had been hired to photograph the July 5th wedding at Turgut Özal Nature Park in the eastern Turkish province of Malatya. On the day of, when he noticed that the bride-to-be didn’t look like an adult, he asked the groom her age and learned that she was only 15.
“The groom had come to my studio some two weeks ago and was alone,” Albayrak tells the Daily News. “I saw the bride for the first time at the wedding. She’s a child, and I felt her fear because she was trembling.”
Albayrak then reportedly refused to continue as the wedding photographer and attempted to stop the wedding.
The argument soon turned physical when the groom attacked him as he was attempting to leave, Albayrak says. The photographer ended up breaking the client’s nose in the fight, according to local reports.
Albayrak confirmed the reports in a Facebook post, which has been met with widespread approval, attracting thousands of Likes and hundreds of overwhelmingly positive comments.
“I wish this had never happened, but it did,” Albayrak writes. “And if you were to ask me if I’d do the same thing again, I’d say ‘yes.’ Child brides are [victims] of child abuse and no power on earth can make me photograph a child in a wedding gown.”
The legal minimum age for marriage in Turkey is 18-years-old for both sexes, and child marriage is punishable by imprisonment for men who marry underage girls. Despite being outlawed, however, child marriage is still prevalent in the country and remains a controversial political issue.

this guy is a hero.
btw - let’s remind ourselves, americans, that unlike turkey, in the US the legal minimum age for marriage is only 18 in two states. in alabama, you can be married as young as fourteen years old if you have “parental permission”. in california, you can get married under 18 if you go to counseling, have a parent with you when you apply for the marriage license, and appear before a judge. in some states, there isn’t even a specific minimum age for marriage.
the minimum marriage age for girls in new hampshire is 13 years old.
48 states allow child marriage.
child marriage is not an “over there” problem, it happens right here, legally. any one of us might find ourselves called upon to break somebody’s nose if we encounter something like this occurring. we also have a responsibility to support groups and laws trying to end child marriage in this country.
Florida judges have approved child marriages of children down to age 11.
Okay but who saw the footage of the aftermath of the Israeli bombing of a flat in Beirut last night, in which they assassinated Hamas members? Here's a picture fyr
Do you see how precise the attack was? There are buildings on both sides of the targeted flat and they look almost intact!
The accuracy is quite intriguing when you think of all the flattened neighbourhoods in Gaza and the residential buildings turned to dust, where supposed Hamas leaders were, according to Israel. Nearly 70% of Gaza's homes and about half of its buildings have been destroyed by Israel since October, killing over 20,000 Palestinians in the process.
If it doesn't make sense to you it's because you're using the wrong words to describe and understand this. Try "ethnic cleansing" and/or "genocide" next.
A few weeks ago the UN reported that everyone in Gaza is facing a food crisis -and that 1 in every 4 people in Gaza are starving -a quarter of their population is hundreds of thousands of Palestinian people. EVERYONE is hungry -their medical systems have collapsed and there are imminent outbreaks of diseases. How HUMILIATING and dehumanizing it is to have to fight for basic necessities. Imagine seeing a humanitarian truck -something rare because as we know the IOF has been collectively punishing Palestinian people for months now and has been committing mass genocide under the guide of 'war.' Not letting through resources to prevent people from dying from starvation is beyond depraved. And the fact we will NEVER see this on western/European mass media is just... absolutely infuriating.
sharing from the letstalkpalestine broadcast channel, 1/2/2024:
Israel struck Hamas’s office in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, causing an explosion that killed top Hamas leader Saleh Al-Arouri and two Hamas commanders.
Al-Arouri was the deputy leader of Hamas’s Political Bureau. He co-founded Hamas’ military wing, the Qassam Brigades. He is deputy to Ismail Haniyeh, and heads operations in the West Bank.
The explosion destroyed nearby cars and set fire to the surrounding area. The area is known Hezbollah stronghold. Unverified reports say it was a drone attack.
This marks by far the biggest escalation in Lebanon since Oct 7, after Hezbollah intervened against Israel along the Lebanese border to assist Gaza. While Hezbollah and Israel have been trading blows almost daily (except during the truce), it has been restricted to the areas near the Lebanese border.
This outrageous Israeli attack is sure to change that.

The Lebanese resistance has forced over 230,000 settlers to leave occupied southern Lebanon and northern Palestine (x). The zionist entity has extended the mandatory evacuation period by three more months, and many settlers have already decided not to return in the foreseeable future (x). This is how decolonization begins—the occupation relies on “civilian” settler presence as much as military presence to maintain its hold on stolen land
"She was only 20." [@/ Adirondalachia on X. 12/30/23.] Breaking: The Israeli military killed journalist Nermine Haboush, along with her child and mother, in a missile strike on their home in #Gaza City ! [@/ NourNaim88 on X.]
The IOF killed another journalist. Her name is Nermine Haboush, and above is a picture of her -may Nermine rest in peace and power.
The IOF has committed heinous war crime after war crimes, crime against humanity after crime against humanity; mass targeting of 'safe' havens like hospitals, schools, refugee camps, and places of worship. They have been and continue to terrorize Palestinian people. And for anyone 'celebrating,' New Years tonight I hope you take a moment -or a bit longer to press pause about what is happening in the world right now -and what has been happening in Gaza, because it's the least you can do. This is just absolutely despicable.
If this is true, this is very interesting. Unlike the poster I think this is actually fairly literal and close to the reality on the ground.
They have destroyed their army, and received reservists twice and still employed mercenaries, and STILL they pulled all 5 of their brigades out of Ghazzah. Their tanks are destroyed, their artillery is destroyed, they depleted their shells and missiles 3 or 4 times and had to be replenished by the settler colony known as the United States.
And then Hezb and Yemen joined. And their economy is now crashing, and they are no longer occupying Southern Lebanon. Their own psychotherapists are fleeing to England because of the workload they're anticipating.
What direction is this society headed in? What caused this? They're destroying themselves by their own hand.

Multiple sources report heavy rains causing severe flooding in Jabaliya and other parts of norther Gaza and the wider Strip. Flooding has already led to the spread of dangerous diseases. These diseases are caused by the destruction of sanitation infrastructure and water treatment facilities, the close proximity of so many people living on top of each other and sharing bathrooms, the accumulation of decaying bodies in the streets, as well as other factors. To make matters worse, the most recent reports say the flooding is so severe that it’s flooding shelters and destroying the tents of displaced people. Not only will this render displaced people once again without shelter, but it will also increase exposure to dangerous disease.

hi i'm dylan. i'm your local struggling disabled transbi blak australian idiot. you may know me from my greatest hits such as "everything is so expensive and i am so scared" and "i can't afford to get to fucking work" and it's sequel, "i'm too sick to work now" and i need assistance with the following:
- school fees (i am returning to uni as abstudy is more stable for me)
- moving and rent (my lease ends in a few months and cannot be renewed. this is incredibly time sensitive)
- debt repayment (from previous tafe fees, as well as debt ive had to take on for survival over the past few months)
- medication, appointments (particularly specialist mental health and rheumatology so i can pursue the disability support pension)
- visa stuff (long story, willing to explain if necessary but it's quite personal)
- seizing my car from my abusive family
after further review i realised $1.5k would barely cover my debt, so i've adjusted my needs and goals.
i can take both paypal and stripe donations through ko-fi, but i can also draw, edit (e.g. i can edit comic/manga/anime screencaps), make graphics, design characters, etc. and am willing to do these for payment as well!

Have you heard that the IDF used to be a terrorist group that was recognized by the US and the UN? And apparently the same terrorist group that carried out the Nakba? Basically meaning THE terrorists?...Because BOY, it sure would have helped learning that little detail earlier!
Oh yeah, the Irgun? Haganah? Lehi? All of these literal terrorist gangs made up what we know today as the IDF. Before that, they carried out terrorist attacks against the British as well as commit massacres against Palestinians such as the Deir Yassin massacre in 1948.
All of their terrorist acts are well documented and can verrrry easily be found if you look them up. For instance, the Lehi's focus was literally assassinations of British officials and the Irgun was in fact regularly described as a terrorist organisation in US media outlets, and they were all also described as "terrorist organisations" in official British and UN documents that detail their terrorist activities.
To add, the leaders of these terrorist groups later became Israel's prime ministers (David Ben-Gurion, Menahem Begin and Yitzhak Shamir).
If you're interested in learning more about this, The Institute for Palestine Studies has recently published The Roots of Zionist Terrorism, a paper that includes more info and a rundown of these gangs' most infamous terrorist acts committed against Palestinians starting the years leading up to the Nakba.
award-winning palestinian children's illustrator baraa awoor writes:
"what use is it to be an illustrator of children's books when the world has sentenced the children of your country to the death penalty, to vanish, to genocide?"
some of baraa's illustrations:
this is an illustration for youssef, whose mother is remembered running desperately into the hospital asking if anyone had seen a "small white boy with beautiful curly hair, his name is youssef," a description which was remembered by millions when she finally identified his body:
this illustration is for young omar, who was hugging his little brother and teaching him how to repeat the shahada after him (a prayer spoken by muslims before their death) as he lay on his hospital bed:
"we want a new year that doesn't kill us or our children, we want it a year without blood, without screaming, without pain, we want a new attempt to get our lives back, or something that resembled our life, even if life is a lie we still cling to it, return life to us—a new year's card unlike any other year:"
baraa is currently fundraising to get her family of 12 out of gaza. she is a friend of mine and this is a reputable fundraiser, so please donate if you can. the egyptian government is currently charging upwards of 5,000 USD per person to get to cairo through the rafah border:
